I've used many banks, and it's just not the case. 1) your unable to login by email 2) unless requested, your ID is never sent to you over email to refer to it 3) often on the login screen, "Save ID" does not actually save your ID 4) resetting your password sometimes doesn't work as they, "cannot verify" when you've correctly entered your ID, last 4 of social, and email address.
