## What is Gecko Guide?

Gecko Guide is a local-first reference app for gecko keepers and breeding enthusiasts. It brings species notes, care parameters, health reminders, legal-reference prompts, gene records, and a simplified genetics calculator into one focused tool.

Field guide
Browse common gecko species including leopard geckos, crested geckos, African fat-tailed geckos, gargoyle geckos, leachianus geckos, chahoua geckos, frog-eyed geckos, knob-tailed geckos, day geckos, tokay geckos, and more. Search by name, filter by care level, habitat, and climate, and open structured species profiles.

Care parameters
Species pages organize hot-zone temperature, cool-zone temperature, humidity, size, lifespan, habitat notes, diet notes, health references, and CITES or local-rule reminders where available.

Gene dictionary
Review common gecko genes and traits across supported species. Gene pages can include inheritance type, visual markers, relationship notes, incompatible traits, stackable traits, breeding notes, and health warnings.

Genetics calculator
Choose sire and dam genes to estimate simplified offspring phenotype probabilities for supported single-locus traits. The calculator flags allelic conflicts, health-risk traits, and approximate cases so the result stays bounded and transparent.

Favorites and settings
Save frequently checked species, switch between light and dark themes, choose display language, and view temperature or length values in the units you prefer.

Privacy
The current version does not use sign-in, advertising identifiers, third-party analytics SDKs, cloud backup, or cloud sync. Favorites, reading history, language, theme, and unit preferences are stored on your device.
