You would think that it should be able to detect that the vehicle is no longer moving and discard the “phone distraction”. Also I was told to use the app while riding my scooter: I get hit with “phone distraction” although the phone is in my backpack (???). And then quite a few hard breaking events, as a scooter brakes naturally faster than a car. ### 3/5 — Drive easy in Geico app. *2024-05-05* It’s hard to give this five stars. The point of drive easy is to show good driving, but the app can’t even tell when you aren’t using your phone while driving. If you pull over or use your phone at the end of your trip the app still says you used your phone. ### 4/5 — Pretty Accurate *2024-05-01* I’ve been getting into the habit of pulling into nearby parking lots/spots before using my phone to text dispatch back. The 4 Stars is because it can’t detect that and assumes I’m texting while driving. I’m a mobile locksmith and receive my jobs via text message but they don’t translate well when using Siri. If the app can detect that I’m stopped in a parking space or parking lot, gas station etc. I’d give it 5 stars because other than that, pretty accurate. ### 3/5 — Has Issues *2023-03-16* It works alright but it doesn’t sense the Cornering and Smoothness function properly, I even tried turning like a 90 yr old person still can’t get a good cornering score and for the Smoothness function if you’re in in town traffic with a lot of stop lights it’s going to ding your Smoothness score, it’s working alright and saving me money but it needs a lot of issues worked out. ### 5/5 — App in Review *2023-02-25* At first, seemed not too pleasant to have this app as a necessary functionality of your everyday every moment driving. However, it made me aware of my driving, as well as to be a defensive driver every time I planned to pick up my keys. It’s improved my awareness on the road. No longer do I follow the speed of the traffic as I use to. I follow the laws of the roadways. ### 3/5 — Good…but… *2023-02-01, version 1.2.0* My cornering is NOT uncontrolled, yet my score in that area is always low. What do you want me to do…put the car in neutral and get out and PUSH it around corners??? ### 4/5 — It’s alright *2023-01-29, version 1.2.0* Saves me money, so I’m good with it. The only thing is, it has no way to recognize when I pass my phone to my spouse. Therefore I have to select like 90% of my trips as “passenger”! GEICO is probably very suspicious of me at this point lol Edit: to those whose phone number isn’t recognized by the app, you’ll probably want to contact customer service. Every time I leave my house it dings me for speeding on the same road. Stated that speed limit is 30 when it’s actually posted at 40 so it dings me for speeding at 12 miles over the speed limit every time. I have never had an accident and haven’t had a ticket in over 30 years. If it’s this much off when I’ve barely gone anywhere I can’t imagine how off it’ll be when I have to actually travel further out. I kept correcting the system yet nothing changed. Totally not worth the time it takes to double check the information and keep up with it!!! ### 1/5 — GEICO’s drive easy app is problematic *2024-05-11* At the advice of the sales representative, my husband and I downloaded and installed the drive easy app on our separate phones. But no one told us that we should create two separate accounts to do the sign up. As a result, after many phone calls and uninstalling and reinstalling the app, we are told that we no longer have the drive easy discount because GEICO did not detect that we have the app on our phones.😫 Anyway, the app is a mess. One of GEICO‘s representatives even mentioned it to me that she hasn’t used it herself because of its poor quality. ### 1/5 — Bad *2023-11-19* They cannot be trusted with insurance They will avoid paying when a problem occurs. Their funny commercials on TV are really laughing at you. I have been with Geico for 25 years and never had an accident or have any tickets then during the hurricane my $15k worth BMW was totaled and they only wanted to pay me $1200. Learn from my experience and stay away if you don’t want to be taken advantage of. ### 1/5 — Poorly designed *2023-11-06* The app assumes I am driving even if I am a passenger so I get dinged if I use my phone. There is no way to temporarily turn it off without having to turn off location tracking which is a hassle. It would be nice if the app could read whether CarPlay is active or if Bluetooth connection to the car was active to determine I am driving. I wish uninstalling this app didn’t impact my discount. I really don’t want it. ### 1/5 — Be careful’ this app has hiding purposes. *2023-09-25* Today, I was informed by a Geico representative that our family is been charged charges based on this application record. It sounds like this app is used to invade the client’s privacy. They said it keeps record of how many time you abruptly stop your car while driving, if you use your cell phone while driving, etc.. this is unacceptable. Be careful and do not authorize this GPS on your devices. It has huffing purposes. I did not authorized it. ### 1/5 — App is flawed *2023-03-10* Don’t hit a yellow light and stop it will ding you for slowing down too fast and forget it if someone cuts you off! Any time someone else drives like a moron you adapt to their driving to get out of their way. This app will ding your score for all the wrong reasons. One way to avoid getting a breaking too fast is to roll through the stop sign or light. Not a very good promotion of driving defensively, more like how many accidents can you cause by holding up traffic. Acceleration is also an issue when you start in first gear. Got dinged for going too fast from 0-8 mph in 1.8 seconds. This application is just a way for Geico to charge you more based on the way the rest of the idiots on the road drive not the way you drive. The app is perfect if you were the only one an the road and the yellow lights lasted long enough for you to slow down in time to stop slowly. This has definitely changed that as im much more aware now. When first installed my score went way down until i learned what and what not to do..
