## What is Gemel?

Track calories and protein in seconds.

Gemel tracks the two numbers that matter, calories and protein, and paces them through your day, so you always know whether you're on track while there's still time to fix it. No food database, no account, no feed.

A TARGET THAT MOVES WITH YOUR DAY
A daily number is only useful if you know how much of it you were meant to have used by now. Gemel draws a pace line that climbs from the hour you wake to the hour you turn in, so a number at 2pm reads as ahead or behind, not just as a number. Cutting or building: your calorie number is a ceiling or a floor, and the words change to match.

SECONDS, NOT A FOOD DIARY
The fastest way to log a meal is to type the number you already know. Your usual amounts are one tap, ranked by what you reach for and when. Anything else, the pad adds up as you type, with the running total in view. On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence you can also describe the meal in a sentence: Apple's on-device model estimates it and fills the pad for you to check, and nothing is logged until you say so. Log from the Lock Screen, Control Center, the Action button, your Apple Watch or Siri without opening the app. No barcode scanner, on purpose.

DIFFERENT GOALS, SAME STREAK
Pair with a friend and you start a second streak, one that only continues on days you both hit your goals. She's cutting, you're building; neither of you sees the other's figures, only whether today was hit. One person per pairing, as many pairings as you like.

GEMELS
A day where both bars cap is a gemel. Streaks, comebacks and awards build from there, on your own and with each friend.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.2 — 2026-10-10

Share any block. On a pairing's page or the Gemels tab, tap a block — TODAY, THEIR DAY, YOUR WEEK, the trend chart, an award or a best — and Gemel frames a snapshot of it, with whose it is, the Gemel mark and the time. Then Share… or Save to Photos. A day's sheet has a share button in its top corner for that day's bars, and both Histories can share the run card that opened them.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-10-08

Portions now go below one (½, ⅓, ¼), and an entry remembers its portions. A day's entries show the device and method behind each one, with a divider at midnight. The pad suggests figures more often. Describe a meal keeps its totals in view while the keyboard is up. Every button answers a press. And Gemel no longer waits on Apple Health at launch, which could leave it on a white screen on iOS 27.

### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-07

Gemel 2: describe a meal and Apple Intelligence estimates it, on your phone, through Siri, on the watch, and in onboarding. Plus a rebuilt day timeline and entry page, and fixes: calendars open on today's week, missed days keep their bar colour, and onboarding buttons sit at the foot of the screen.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-26

Streaks now show on your calendars. Every day you hit a target gets a border — violet for calories, green for protein, both on a gemel day — and days in a row are joined by a line. You'll see it in History, yours and each pair's, on the Gemels cards, and on the large Today widget; on a pair's calendar, a day only counts when you both hit. A full week of calorie or protein hits now marks its week in violet or green, too.

The day-end recap no longer sits on top of Undo: log something while it's showing and it steps aside, so Undo is right there.

Fixed a crash in the background that could stop your widgets and watch face updating while Gemel was closed.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-24

Kilojoules, if that's how your food is labelled. Switch the unit right on your numbers screen and type straight off the package — Gemel handles the rest.

Undo now reopens the log where the entry came from: the pad, still holding what you typed, so you can fix a number instead of starting over — or your quick-add tiles, if that's where you tapped it in.

On Apple Watch: logging from the wrist now shows the bar fill and the figures count up, with an Undo for a few seconds in case you tapped the wrong thing. A new day no longer shows as on pace before you've logged anything, opening the app no longer brings yesterday's totals back, and switching to your other watch picks up today straight away.

Your widgets and watch face stay current without opening the app: a friend's progress arrives in the background, a log made with Siri reaches your wrist and your friends, and the streak on the widget counts today the moment you hit both targets.
