### 2/5 — Update breaks background functionality

*2019-08-27, version 1.9.0*

After the update, I can no longer simply shake to open my gate. I have to relaunch the app which now consistently stalls on the launch screen for over 20 seconds every time. Please fix this!

### 1/5 — App signs me out all the time

*2019-08-21, version 1.9.0*

Too bugy
Signs me out all the time
I have to pull out the app every time to open gate
Sometime it takes multiple seconds to see my key

### 2/5 — Consistently frustrating

*2019-03-21, version 1.8.7*

Fails often, randomly logs me out

### 2/5 — Does not work reliably

*2019-01-18, version 1.8.4*

For some reason I can unlock any doors using Bluetooth anymore. I have to hold the phone up to the reader and that makes my Apple Pay card pop up which seems wrong.

I’d rather just have a key fob that works all the time :(

### 1/5 — Onboarding experience is very buggy and stuck in broken registration/activation loop

*2018-12-08, version 1.8.2*

I received an account to use this app, clicked the link to download the app from that email, then clicked the link to activate (also in the email). Each time it asks for a password to add to my username or says "We've found you! Check your email to complete registration and log in."

Then it sends another email with the same 2 links to download or activate. When I click activate in the subsequent emails it asks to create a password even though I have already done so.

I repeated this process 8 times wasting over half an hour, uninstalled & reinstalled the app, and still couldn't get the registration and initial login process to actually work all the way through.

It turns out that the whole process stopped breaking when I:
(1) Manually copied and pasted the activation link into Safari to avoid being redirected into the broken onboarding loop in the app
(2) Removed the spaces from my password. There is no warning of this or indication that the app doesn't support passwords with spaces.

Additionally the app does not support password management best practices, such as the use a password manager in the registration process. It also disables the ability to paste after copying from a password manager. Why? It breaks the ability to use iOS's password management feature and 1Password too.

This is an extremely painful onboarding experience for an app that exists to make signing in to places easier. Please fix these critical onboarding bugs.

### 1/5 — Connecting over and over while a line of cars builds behind me

*2018-01-18, version 1.7.2*

When I get to my gate my phone and watch are buzzing over and over and over and I get the “connected to reader” notification non-stop. When I try to actually open the gate it won’t find a valid door nearby and I have to continuously press the unlock button until I finally get the timing in between connections right. This app was more convenient than using a key fob but I’ll probably be uninstalling it soon.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-01-28, version 4.2.1*

Never works. Absolute trash.

### 1/5 — Works 50% of the time

*2023-10-20, version 3.13.2*

Worthless piece of $&@!!!

### 1/5 — Improvements Needed

*2023-04-04, version 3.8.4*

Terrible app. Key can take a moment to load. Constantly being informed to move closer to device, even though you are directly in front of it. App used to work fine when it was Sequr.

### 1/5 — App wants to know your location even when not running

*2022-10-11, version 3.4.0*

The idea that this app wants to track my location even when I am not running the app is appalling. I can’t trust the developers of this app since I don’t know them. If they can’t figure out another way then I hope a competitor can.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-08-25, version 3.2.1*

When I tried to tap the door sensor it opened my credit card (?!) Tried calling support and never got to a human. Sent a live chat and got a reply an hour later to reboot my phone.
Finally got in when a coworker drove across town.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-11-09, version 2.2.21*

I’ve tried five times and it’s worked zero times.

Your key to the office needs to work — all the time.

### 1/5 — Bad app turned worse

*2019-09-20, version 1.9.1*

The devs made a bad app even worse. Having notifications disabled in all places, it now won’t even show the keys anymore. Locked on the splash screen until you allow notifications. No, I don’t want notifications from a key app. Very disappointing.
The link to the privacy policy returns some error.
Really?

### 1/5 — Does not work on ios13

*2019-09-18, version 1.9.0*

Instacrashes when I try to activate a key. Coworker’s instacrashes just opening the app. GM of ios13 has been out for a week....betas even longer....

### 1/5 — Last Update

*2019-09-06, version 1.9.0*

After the last update the app has become such a pain to use. Completely inconsistent. Makes my job super hard please fix.

### 1/5 — Bad update

*2019-08-22, version 1.9.0*

Version 1.9.0 is HORRIBLE!! It takes about 3 times longer to load than the old one!! Everything was working fine until the new version.... now it’s sluggish and totally not worth the time it take to open it. Why fix it if it’s not broken???

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Latest Version is Solid

*2026-01-16, version 4.3.0*

App is very feature rich and solid performance. Allows 80-85% of the web features on the go and customer support is very responsive.

### 5/5 — App works great

*2025-12-15, version 4.2.12*

Very intuitive application that allows me to open/close doors, add/remove users, and much more all through my iPhone.

### 5/5 — This app works great!

*2024-05-23, version 4.0.7*

I see some complaints about location services in the background, but this improves the unlocking functionality with mobile credentials.
It is annoying that Apple keeps reminding you of this though after you already accept it.

### 5/5 — Just horrible

*2020-11-23, version 2.2.1*

I’m just a horrible person

### 5/5 — Super easy and convenient

*2020-11-03, version 2.2.1*

I have been using the app for almost a year now. I love that I do not have to roll down my window when I come into my building.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2019-10-08, version 1.9.1*

This app is great! Makes my life so much easier because I almost always have my phone in hand so I can just badge in when I get to work instead of having to find my keycard. 👍🏼

### 5/5 — Great product, easy to use

*2019-01-22, version 1.8.4*

Our company was using an older S2 "cloud" system that was really just a VPN connecting a couple servers. The Sequr system is 100x better especially with the Okta integration automating deprovisioning for us.

### 4/5 — iOS 13 Crashing Still

*2019-10-10, version 1.9.2*

Expected some apps to fail during initial betas of the new iOS 13 several months ago, but with only days left before the official launch of the new multi-device OS update - this app still crashes before even loading. I have a feeling there will be a lot of people locked out of their places come Friday morning with zero warning.

Update: Looks like the team was able to slip in a fix under wire post the iOS 13 launch! Still some stability issues and the turn to unlock feature doesn’t always behave - but systems are back up. Good job Dev team!

### 3/5 — Apple Watch problem

*2020-01-08, version 1.9.4*

The app works great on my iPhone but doesn’t work at all on my Apple Watch and I can’t find any instructions to help me troubleshoot.

### 2/5 — Location Data Snoops

*2025-01-30, version 4.2.1*

I’m sorry you think you have the right to track my location 24/7 but no thank you. Ridiculous that this app thinks I need to drain my battery and give up my privacy just to use it once a month to open the door at work if I’m the first one there. How about you just let me opt in to that rather than bugging me incessantly w/ promps and error messages.
