## What is Geneva Moon?

I've always liked wearing a lunar complication on my Apple Watch. There is something both visually delightful but yet also slightly geeky about it. But I was unable to find a complication that provided an astronomically accurate moon display...which just kinda bothered me. So I made Geneva Moon.

Geneva Moon seeks to provide a highly accurate, visually pleasing indication of what the moon looks like right now, right where you are. My goal was to make it so that if you look down at your wrist and then up into the sky the images you see should match.

It includes a robust set of complications for every watch face type.

Choose between either a visually rich 'actual ' appearance or a more simplified version, to fit your own personal style.

The main display indicates the current azimuth and elevation of the moon along the horizon along with a visual indication of its phase and orientation.

Rotate the Digital Crown to shift forward and backwards through time and see how the moon will shift (tap on the screen to reset to now)

On Apple Watches equipped with a compass (Series 5) you can have Geneva Moon orient itself towards the actual moon to make it easier to locate the moon in the sky.

Thank you for considering Geneva Moon, I hope you enjoy having the moon on your wrist as much I do.

—Dave

### 4/5 — Great Complication but ONE problem…

*2022-11-11, version 1.1.1*

I love the idea and capability of this complication, the only issue I have is that if you have it set to the more realistic moon, the complication is too transparent compared to the other complications on my watch. I can barely see it, I would love it so much more if it was just more visible on the watch face.

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2022-10-26, version 1.1.1*

The app is not showing up on my watch. It appears to be no longer supported.

### 4/5 — Needs support

*2022-10-14, version 1.1.1*

Amazing complication and I still use it. Only now I use the stock moon for display on my watch because it shows the actual moon graphic. Geneva Moon complication does not show the actual moon graphic anymore for some reason. It’s the same as the simple graphic. Have reinstalled and changed the settings but just stays simple. So I use the apple moon now for display then I go to app dock and launch Geneva for more moon info.

Another issue now is the arrow buttons don’t seem to work anymore. I think it just needs some love from the developers. I am a huge fan of this complication. Maybe add a tip jar or something to give it some support and keep it updated! I’d tip!

### 1/5 — No longer available and doesn’t work

*2022-10-03, version 1.1.1*

This app just says PURCHASED and is greyed out. I bought it before, but have no way to install it on a new Apple Watch.

Also, the app is broken and no longer allows you to skip from moon phase to moon phase (showing the dates when the phases will happen) by tapping the < and > symbols.

I used to love this complication, but the developer is no longer supporting it and is not answering emails.

### 1/5 — Stopped working properly

*2022-10-01*

This used to be a good app, with an accurate depiction of the moon phase on my Apple Watch. However, the ‘actual’ depiction of the moon is now exactly the same as the ‘simple’ depiction - an inaccurate white crescent with zero moon markings. What once looked good, now looks crap. I have emailed the developer who has not yet responded.

### 2/5 — Used to love this app

*2022-09-30, version 1.1.1*

I just moved to my new S8 Apple Watch and upon downloading this app again, the “actual” version no longer works. Both appear as the “simple” render.

I’ve rebooted the watch. It did work on my S5 with WatchOS 9.0. It just seems that image isn’t in the app anymore.

Hope this is a simple fix Underscore…

### 3/5 — Small Bug?

*2022-08-15*

As an amateur astronomer, this complication for my watch is very useful. There are a couple of issues. First, the moon raise time is about 40 minutes too early. Second, I assume the arrows in the bottom centre of the screen that shows the moon information is supposed to be used to go ahead or back a day or more so you can get the information for those days. These arrows don’t work.

### 2/5 — Arrows to advance moon phases no longer work

*2022-08-08, version 1.1.1*

The arrows to move between moon phase dates no longer work.

App delete and reinstall and watch reboot didn’t help.

No response from tech support after several weeks.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2022-03-07, version 1.1.1*

I quickly got annoyed at the built in moon complication not being accurate, and it is way too gratifying to have the moon in my Geneva Moon complication match the actual moon exactly!

### 1/5 — Not working for Apple Watch 7 at all

*2022-02-01, version 1.1.1*

Purchased the app I can see the app in the watch. But I cannot setup the app. After trying a long time, I only have an option to delete it. So sorry!

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2019-10-10

- Fix an issue where the previous moon phase button wouldn't respond correctly
- Fix an alignment issue that caused the horizon view to off by one pixel

### 1.1 — 2019-10-09

This update includes:
 - A new Info area that gives details about moon illumination and age, as well as, the moon rise and set times for the displayed day
 - An option to jump forward and backwards to the next major phase point (New, 1st Quarter, Full, 3rd Quarter)
 - Improved rendering for the 'Actual' appearance for tinted complication types (Utility, Simple, Modular, Xtra Large)
 - Fix an issue where the location/settings screens wouldn't dismiss properly

This app was renamed with this update from Moon++ to Geneva Moon. It turns out that typing the "+" symbol on the Apple Watch is really tricky so I changed it to something much easier to dictate/write.

Quick bug fix update to address
- an issue where the complication coloring on the California face wasn't correct
- an issue where the illuminated moon side could be incorrect.

No release notes.
