Don’t bother! And why there is no option to delete accounts ? ### 2/5 — US Review *2025-08-04, version 2.6.2* I tried this for a while and had no luck. I took this app to a convention with 1000’s of people in Tampa FL, and it didn’t detect a single person near by. I was surprised to see that. It seems everyone on here is only from Europe. It’s great if you’re looking to date a foreign person, but the downside is that you have to pay to see likes. So it’s completely pay to win which is lame. Just another typical dating app that shakes you down for money and makes you gamble away your cash for a chance at love. Also the phone notifications are annoying. They just pop up every day recommending you pay. I wish I could have turned those off and just saw notification’s about likes. Someone should make a free straight dating app that is more like Grindr. They would make billons. Overall not recommended for USA users unless you have lots of money to throw away and unless you want to date a European. ### 1/5 — Genie = fast battery drain *2023-10-23* Downloaded Genie a few months ago, but after creating a profile, I never used it because they want money. Had a new battery installed around the same time. The new battery has always been draining to zero within a few hours, even though the cycle count today is still 100%. I presumed it was a duff battery, but I’ve been too busy to look into it. A few days ago, I finally went online, and was advised to go: Settings —> Battery —> Scroll down to see which apps are using power. I’m addicted to Facebook. In the last ten days, Facebook in the background = 26 hours. Genie in the background in the same ten days, even though I never use it = 156 hours!!! I deleted Genie instantly. Battery now running normally. The difference is day and night. If your battery is always draining fast, delete this piece of crap from your phone. Deserves zero stars. The worst coding build I’ve ever experienced. Will be reporting to Apple, and asking them to remove it from the App Store. Goodbye Genie. I hope I never meet your atrociously bad coding ever again ### 1/5 — . *2023-07-18, version 2.3.3* I’m a gay man, but all I’m being shown is straight men. Pointless using if your gay. ### 3/5 — Has Potential, But Lacks Polish *2023-06-09* It’s an interesting couple of ideas at work here, however requiring your location to always be active is not only a massive drain on battery life but also smacks of location tracking/data gathering. In addition there’s just a general lack of quality on this app. Sentences are written poorly and aren’t proofread. One instance was reading “thier” instead of “their” in a great big button on one of the main feature screens. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. Apologies for the errors. We are continually aiming to fix bugs and typos. For example, the latest version would have 'their' fixed. ### 1/5 — Fake app *2023-06-04, version 2.2.7* This app is not as ‘good’ as it is advertised. In the UK, it’s barely used. I don’t know why there are so many fake reviews on this app but it’s just another oversold, overly described waste of time. ### 1/5 — Why would I want to pay to use when I can use free sites? *2023-05-25, version 2.2.6* Downloaded as I saw an ad but I’m not paying to use the site. ### 1/5 — Your Ethnicity Policy is discriminatory *2023-05-13* You force users to determine their ethnicity but only give a handful of options - particularly only Black or Asian mixed ethnicity options, you don’t even have an other category (which I hate but at least it’s inclusive). Therefore I can’t choose and by not choosing you give me a warning as if I’m trying to hide my ethnicity from other users and I will be penalised in some way for changing it. It’s disgusting and completely unacceptable. Either give options or let people choose not to declare it without some kind of penalty. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. The ethnicity field is optional. You need not declare it. Moreover, we are actually more inclusive as we reward our users with 2 free coins for choosing 'Doesn't Matter'. However, we have to also respect user views who want to declare and choose the filter. It would have been good if you would have carefully read what the pop-up was trying to say ### 3/5 — Took long *2023-05-12, version 2.2.5* It takes too long to set up and you have to meet certain requirements in how much you put about yourself ### 1/5 — Worst dating app ever *2023-05-10, version 2.2.5* They charge you for everything. Completely pointless and unusable ### 1/5 — Bit of a joke *2023-04-24, version 2.2.3* You’ve automatically set my age to 18 and there’s literally no way to change it or delete my account without waiting for a month. WHAT 😂 ### 4/5 — Question about sign up??? *2023-04-21* When signing up to the app I was told to put in my first name and in smaller font next to that box I was informed that I won’t be able to change that later. What should people who for some reason might change their name in the further do. Delete their accounts? For example if someone comes out as trans and wants to change their name. Pls pls review this as I think it’s quite an important issue to consider. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. Imagine if users kept changing their names each day or age or other important fields. A lot of people would do this to be able to fool other users. To keep the experience of other users also good, we deliberately impose restrictions on certain fields. In certain cases, users can write to us via social media or our customer services email and we can change this ### 1/5 — Too complicated and just poor *2023-03-26, version 2.2.1* Complicated not a easy to use app, just simply did not like at all waste of time setting up ### 1/5 — Worst app I’ve ever seen *2023-03-21, version 2.2.0* It’s so slow and glitchy. There’s about 5 people to even swipe on. I can’t believe they’re spending all this money on marketing and not on actually building a decent app. ### 1/5 — Red flags all round *2023-03-17, version 2.2.0* This app hasn’t really solved any of the issues from other dating apps, and if anything it’s come up with a few really annoying new features. The double swipe feature isn’t very easy to navigate (try to swipe away and they often bounce back) Hate the fact ads from the sidebar about a free coffee keep interrupting, and the credit system makes the whole thing feel cheap. When I go to access developer website I am informed that the site is trying to steal my data! DO NOT GET THIS! ### 1/5 — Poor all round *2025-11-20, version 2.6.2* Basically once you have a profile you pay for absolutely everything incrementally. Want to send a like? Pay. Want to see who liked you? Pay. Want to use filters? Pay. They rely on the fact you’ve spent a lot of time setting up your profile and then tease you with information to extract money. The app is hard to navigate. ### 1/5 — Why can’t I delete my account? *2025-07-16* I thought of giving this app a go a while ago and I couldn’t find anyone I like on it, which wasn’t a surprise, so I wanted to delete my account. One problem: It WILL NOT let me delete my account because that option isn’t there. I even contacted them and asked for my account to be removed, but they didn’t do anything about it. Is this because I created the account with my apple account that deleting it isn’t an option? ### 1/5 — Fake app *2025-06-17* Ok you can not delete your profile the option is said to be under edit profile but appears to be Mia I can not remove my profile picture cause it says you must have one there is a an email they give for you to message. It won’t let me deactivate my account for some reason and I have to go through the hustle of emailing just for it to be ignored. Can’t even chat with anyone. Paid for a subscription, restored the purchase and it still not responding. There is definitive though gone around the app. Had read the negative feedback before writing this , but a lot of this has either been fixed plus a lot who wants things very standard way. The app does face an uphill task because it is trying to introduce something new and users will need a learning curve. Users who want a quick and dirty standard app may not like this unless they are willing to 'pickup the app'. The video explainers introduced does really help going forward. Overall the app is really trying to do some great things to solve dating app issues and I love the bluetooth feature which is totally unique to this app . ### 5/5 — Great idea and execution *2023-08-31* Love the bluetooth feature which is totally unique. For a long time didn't appreicate it as it was mostly not getting used. Then a few days later I saw someone at a bar and when I was at home , got a notification that there was a genie user nearby you a few hours ago. I tapped and viola, couldn't believe that i saw the girl in the bar. its a different feeeling to see someone on the app that actually exists and you have seen them ### 5/5 — Wow! *2023-02-27, version 2.1.9* These Same League scores actually seem pretty accurate, the guys I'm seeing high Ratings with do really look like my type. I ve only had 10-12 people turn up in the Bluetooth , but the experience of actually having seen those people in real life .. ohh wow .
