### 1/5 — Don’t understand users

*2025-12-28, version 1.1*

I was a user of the app, but when I next went to use it logged me out. No problem, so I signed back in. But then it wanted me to verify my email, ok, a pain, but did that. So then went to log in again and then said my password has expired.
I just want to use to charge my car… I’ll delete this app and go elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Awful awful app

*2025-12-28, version 1.1*

A clunky, badly designed app. Clearly years out of date. Considering GeniePoint want you to use their app to give them your hard earned money, it’s staggering how they’ve created something so rubbish and stressful to use. My only advice is to get it installed and registered well ahead of time rather than fighting with it in the car park.

### 1/5 — The worst i’ve ever tried.

*2025-12-16, version 1.1*

Horrible app

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2025-11-29, version 1.1*

One of the worst chargers and app used

### 1/5 — Horrendous

*2025-09-11, version 1.1*

Another 20 mins spent p***ing about at one of these nightmare chargers. Avoid them as much as I can but had no choice this time. App is absolutely appalling and the chargers will work only if they feel like it. I am certain these chargers have added to my high blood pressure!

### 1/5 — AVOID!

*2025-08-29, version 1.1*

Awful app. What’s way too much information. Doesn’t work even after you have managed to register your mother’s maiden name and what your first pets name.

### 1/5 — Still being charged

*2025-08-27, version 1.1*

I have no car, paid for my friends charge once and keep getting charges? . Not great!

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-07-11, version 1.1*

Downloaded app to charge at a GeniePoint location only to eventually work out that it was no longer operated by GeniePoint even though it had theire branding all over the unit.

### 1/5 — Awful - don't even consider

*2025-06-25, version 1.1*

So much messing about - and still failed to charge car. Made us late and very crossed.

### 1/5 — Shockingly badly and lazily coded

*2025-06-21, version 1.1*

Integration with iOS is very poorly done. Use only under extreme duress until they improve this truly terrible app - which given how bad it is should be a low bar. Morrisons are not flattered by this poorly chosen partnership.

### 1/5 — A truly hateful app

*2025-06-20, version 1.1*

Please invest some money to move this app into the early mid 21st Century

### 1/5 — Appalling

*2025-05-12, version 1.1*

Trying to register at a charging point in a hurry who wants a 14 digit password which one cannot show to ensure that it is correct and the confirmation matches using the small keys on a smartphone. Gave up in the end so Genie point got no business from me. The most unfriendly EV charging app that I have come across and that is saying something when one considers how bad some of the others are. Also took £1 to register my credit card which does not show as a credit on the account.

### 1/5 — Bad app, bad site

*2025-05-11, version 1.1*

Worst app I’ve ever downloaded. Site is the same. Will never go charge at a Genie ever again.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2025-03-18, version 1.1*

Just a blank screen on the app. Full of glitches.

### 1/5 — Could learn from other charging app how it should work

*2025-03-16, version 1.1*

The app ask for login credentials every day. Many times cannot start a charging session from the app. No export of sessions.

### 1/5 — Awful awful awful

*2025-03-14, version 1.1*

As the card reader on their charger was broken I attempted to join the app. It crashed twice and then would not add any card details. Tried the guest mode and that failed as well. Junk.

### 1/5 — Totally useless

*2025-02-20, version 1.1*

Use another charge point; does not work

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Woeful

*2026-08-09, version 1.1*

As per other reviews, looks like it’s been written by a child. The entire registration process requires every element being typed in with no auto population available.

Once registered, well in advance, went to the Geniepoint charger and it came up on the app as faulty as soon as I plugged my car in.

No advanced warning that it was out of service.

Don’t waste your time with this junk app and charging network.

### 1/5 — This app needs work

*2026-07-25, version 1.1*

This app is very bad and outdated.
Buttons don’t work.
You get logged out after each charge session.
In 2026 this may be the worst charging app I’ve ever used.

### 1/5 — Utterly awful

*2026-07-18, version 1.1*

Why do I need to register with an app, give over all my personal information, and waste a huge amount of time and energy to charge my car? Awful experience, awful app. At least it did eventually charge my car

### 1/5 — Absolutely terrible

*2026-06-29, version 1.1*

Possibly the worst out there. How can it need so many details and screens just to get charging? Information in App doesn’t correlate to charger information. Would’ve been hard to make it worse if they’d tried

### 1/5 — Unworkable

*2026-06-10, version 1.1*

Absolutely rubbish. The level of personal information they want is unbelievable. So time consuming and then it doesn’t even work. At these prices you should just be able to use a bank card. Don’t bother.

### 1/5 — Awful user experience

*2026-04-28, version 1.1*

Sadly I have to use this app every working day and each and every time I have to re-enter my credentials. Why? Who knows. Certainly not their support desk. This app has to do almost nothing, requires almost no features, yet it still manages to do everything poorly - almost hostile to the user.

### 1/5 — Horrendously Clunky

*2026-03-26, version 1.1*

Just about manageable if you setup everything in advance, but the user experience is horrendous on just about every level. I only use it as my workplace has a GeniePoint charger which is cheaper than most public chargers. I’d avoid like the plague if I had the choice.

### 1/5 — Worst up I ever use - stay away from these!!

*2026-02-04, version 1.1*

This is going to annoy you big time. Don’t use Genie Point!!!

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2026-02-02, version 1.1*

Just a really poorly designed app. Have to re-log in every time, doesn’t remember log in details, runs very clunky. The charging stations are okay, no issues with those, but app integration is a disappointment

### 1/5 — 👎🏻

*2026-01-17, version 1.1*

Worst charging point I’ve ever used.

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2024-07-13, version 1.1*

Not sure on the negative reviews I just locked the car and then it worked. Only 2 hours charge - result

### 4/5 — Worst charging app

*2026-07-26, version 1.1*

I wouldn’t even give this app 1 star it is so bad. I’ve given up using their charging points. Everytime I try to use the actual app I get a message that my password has expired and I need to set a new one. It then takes forever to try (and usually fail) to set up a new password. You can’t even use the option to log on as a guest because it always comes up with a fault.
Maybe the makers of this app should be aware it’s for an electric charging point… no-one wants to spend 30 minutes in a car park trying to log on before they even start a charge. Surely it can’t be that hard to design something that is intuitive and user friendly

### 4/5 — Hmmm

*2025-01-22, version 1.1*

If the unit said to use this app I would’ve done in the first place but equans has taken £8 for no reason. I’m hoping it will be refunded as I managed to work out that I need to use GeniePoint instead. Charge was fast but for the fifth star I would’ve liked an app that filled my screen resolution and for a live feed of the charge instead of a 5-10 second delay.

### 2/5 — Unclear signage and FAQ

*2026-04-02, version 1.1*

Got the CCS charger to work and app worked alright. However beware: got an overstay charge for going just over 1.5hrs. Signage on the app and FAQs was not clear and mixed with overstay charge after unplugging.

### 2/5 — Not a good app

*2025-05-20, version 1.1*

I actively try and avoid genie point chargers because this app is a nightmare. Randomly signs you out sometimes so you have to faff about in a car park, sometimes with poor signal, trying to sign back in again. Also if you use the account feature you can only top up in £10 increments, which is fine if, like me, you have a hybrid. But if you wanted to fully charge an EV i imagine having to do constant £10 transactions would get annoying

### 2/5 — Very difficult to connect and stop charging

*2024-11-16, version 1.1*

Firstly, I don’t think I should have needed this app. It would be so much easier just to use a debit card with contactless but that says ‘wrong card.’
Then, it took ages to fill in all the required info on the app. Some things it asked for more than once and iPhone autofill wouldn’t work for any of it. There was no address look up.
Eventually I had the app loaded but it took over ten minutes of repeatedly asking it to start charging before anything happened. This is made worse by the fact that the two chargers are not labelled so who knows which is charger 1 and which is charger 2. Eventually after I was cold and wet, and had tried ringing customer services, it began to charge.
The charger wasn’t particularly fast - was getting maximum of 11.5 when it was labelled as 22. Consequently it didn’t cost a fortune because after 40 mins it had only given me about 30 miles of charge.
At the end of that, I couldn’t disconnect it. Pressing stop on the app did nothing. Again I rang customer services and it’s almost as if they can sense there’s a phone call coming in from next to a particular charger and then they finally allow whatever function you’ve been requesting on the app for the last ten minutes.
I’m not planning on using that charger again and will steer clear of Genie Point in the future.
