## What is GenomeCache?

Genome Cache™ has been developed by the Educational Outreach Team at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville, Alabama. It can be used on McMillian Park, located on the HudsonAlpha campus in Huntsville or in conjunction with the GenomeCache website (genomecache.hudsonalpha.org), anyone anywhere can create their own GenomeWalk. The app includes a total of 20 different pathways through the human genome to choose from, each highlighting 15 genetic points of interest.

Explore the human genome through a virtual scavenger hunt, learn about how genes contribute to human traits, engage with fun facts, and test your knowledge with a trivia questions. Get points by finding each location and answering the trivia questions correctly and post your high score to the leader board.

Some instructions would be helpful and enable the user to learn and test their knowledge of genetics.
Difficult to fathom in its current state.

Shows an intro video, then shows a "Start" button that doesn't start anything when you tap it. If you press and hold the start button (why?), you get to choose from a list of first names, you'll be shown a summary of the person's work, and you'll be asked to enter a "location code". That's it. Good luck figuring out how you're supposed to enjoy that.

I visited HudsonAlpha with a group of high school students who were attending a summer biotech workshop. The seventeen students all used the app on the trail and spoke very highly of it. Several commented that it was challenging and they were glad to be working in pairs but all agreed that they learned quite a bit and would gladly attempt the trail again. A great way to review and introduce some new knowledge but does assume a general knowledge of genetics and DNA.
