### 2/5 — Oh no!

*2022-03-15, version 2.4*

I should have known better! All the information I received is basic nutritional advice. I’m sure the food intolerances I have are acquired, not genetic, and if I were to eat some of my suggested foods I would be in gastric distress! And this is true even after the fact that many of my intolerances had been listed for GenoPalate. Yes, I was gullible! Oops!

### 2/5 — Interestingish

*2021-11-09, version 2.3.124*

Not very insightful but a clever idea. Very expensive for the information you get.

### 3/5 — Info helpful until the app freezes

*2021-08-29, version 2.3.116*

Would give this a four except I have to keep removing and reinstall the app to work
Thought it was a temp glitch but it keeps happening After I log in and start looking are the info clicking in for details all works well up to about 10-15 minutes in where I am stuck on a page and no amount of click on the screen enables any progress. Nothing works other than Erving and reinstalling

### 1/5 — Awful app

*2021-06-10, version 2.3.97*

GenoPalate took my money —- no problem! But now I can’t login to find any of the information that I paid for. The app shuts down; erases my order number and my product code before I can complete the log in page. It’s almost like it’s a plan to take my money and never give me any real information!

### 2/5 — Unable to use

*2021-05-20, version 2.3.97*

After an update and a restart I am unable to “click” on the sign in button. If I scroll up I can see the button but as soon as I let up on the screen it slides back down and I am unable to press it. I’ve tried leaving on finger in place scrolled up and pressing sign in with my other finger to no avail! iPhone 6 problem?

### 1/5 — Save Your Money (Updated)

*2021-04-29, version 2.3.83*

The results I received can just as easily be found on government nutrition sites and searching some of the trendiest foods. I had civil exchanges with customer support, but all communication stopped when I said I had followed a similar macros diet... and gained weight. I also mentioned that some of their “best foods” in certain categories were foods I’m allergic to, or cause other negative reactions. I did not ask for a refund as they did deliver a plan, I just think the plan is random and/or arbitrary.

Update: As you can see above I mentioned customer support stopped communicating. In the “Developer Response” I got it says, “Please email us at...”. Well, I did address that. So I’d give little credence to the response.

### 1/5 — Questionable Data! Requires Dr Review!

*2021-03-05, version 2.3.68*

Thought I’d try it despite very low ratings from Better Business Bureau (D-). I must agree with the negative reviews though that for my particular genetic mutations the recommendations are unsafe. It is telling me to take iron when I have been told to buy multivitamins without iron due to excessive iron levels. Recommendations for B vitamins also way off from those prescribed by my doctor. This may be a ploy to get genetic data. Don’t care about the money as I bought the cheapest option for $39 to try it out. But I do care that I released my 23andMe raw data to these people.

### 1/5 — Height and weight?

*2021-02-18, version 2.3.68*

Why on earth should I have to enter my height and weight to enter the app. There doesn’t seem to be a way around it.

### 1/5 — Waste of money.

*2020-12-17, version 2.3.37*

I learned absolutely nothing. This company basically takes the information from 23andMe and reiterates it for you.

### 3/5 — No horizontal view on iPad

*2020-12-10, version 2.3.37*

In general, the app is pretty nice, and I can get out of it the most information. What’s missing for me though is the fact that I can’t use it on my iPad that’s always attached to a keyboard. The app doesn’t render the view horizontally, which makes it pretty useless for me, actually.

### 3/5 — Misleading

*2020-12-04, version 2.3.37*

Macros do not add up to 100%. Little to no rationale provided for many perfect food picks. Glad I got this in conjunction with Black Friday sale, would have felt more buyers remorse than I already do.

Update (12/4/2020) After considering the reply from Genopalate, I stand by my 3 star rating. They advertise in a way that appeals to get you to want to take the guesswork out of dieting but then give inexact figures (macros not adding up to 100%, my lower range, for example totaled 102%). It’s a slap in the face, setting you up to expect one thing and then acting as though they’re sorry you thought differently when called out.

To be fair, I feel as though I did learn a good deal about myself regarding some foods I might not have tried if not for my results, like ground flaxseeds, pumpkin and canola oil. Also things like needing high monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamin A and moderately high protein which is important for me to know.

If they hadn’t oversold their product it would have been more palatable but in retrospect I don’t regret buying it. They have typical manipulative business ethics, I regret that my money went to them with that advertising.

### 1/5 — Genopalate

*2020-12-04, version 2.3.37*

They took my data and then gave me the standard recommendations that you might see in the American heart Association and the American cancer society nothing new here,And no refunds.. Also this app has no food tracker soI don't know how you could tell if you were eating the exact percentage of proteins and carbohydrates and fats that they suggest. You give them your personal DNA data and they waste your money. They provide a short list of foods, ("artichoke" is supposedly "great" for me, broccoli only "good". None of their report seems especially personalized, nor informed by my genetic or nutritional special needs. The recipe they sent to my inbox included beef. I don't think beef is that healthy for anybody? This is a gimmick that charges you to take your DNA data.

### 1/5 — Not much here!

*2020-11-20, version 2.3.37*

Expected more. It claims I should eat more carbs. Every time I do I gain weight!

Slow response to everything. Feels like I wasted $40!

### 1/5 — Not helpful or insightful

*2020-11-18, version 2.3.37*

I don’t like the recommendations and can’t figure out how they arrived at them. My top fish eel? Yikes!!! I do best on a low carb, low dairy diet but sure enough, those foods were listed. Not for me. Feel scammed.

### 1/5 — I can’t find my recipes

*2020-10-31, version 2.3.37*

My email says my recipes are ready - yet I can’t find it. Also - since my results were close to your examples results - I feel everyone’s the same and you can make a general estimate to tell everyone the same thing. I believe that is why my results came back so fast. You really didn’t need to examine them.

### 1/5 — Absolutely Terrible App (read)

*2020-10-28, version 2.3.37*

This app is geared towards two things:

A 3rd party company harvesting your DNA results

Selling you vitamins

There is a ridiculous amount of variance, inconclusive results, and pseudo-science in this app. The bloodwork I received from years of MD-prescribed lab tests completely differed from their suggested food types, allergens, caloric needs, etc. When I approached them, they spouted off marketing drivel as to the technology used to formulate their results.

Don’t waste your money, even if you are simply paying the reduced rate to upload your DNA results from other apps like Ancesty DNA or 23 and Me, etc.

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2020-10-21, version 2.3.37*

This app is very clunky and hard to use. Not impressed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2026-01-20, version 7.1.1*

At first the app worked great, but over the past year, when I click on anything, the app is left buffering. Since the latest update, I can’t even get into the app anymore. Super bummed because it started out awesome!

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing!!

*2023-09-14, version 4.2.0*

After a minute or so the app will crash and immediately tries to log me back, time after time. Please fix it!!

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2022-08-02, version 3.0.4*

Don’t bother with this, it’s a complete waste of money!

### 1/5 — Waste of time and money

*2022-07-04, version 3.0.1*

If you are following Dr Gundry’s Plant Paradox or ANYONE’S Keto diet …… they are not up to date with the research.hello

### 1/5 — Don’t bother it’s a vitamins scam

*2022-06-29, version 3.0.1*

The recommended foods are all weird very uncommon foods. This is just a way for them to try to sell you vitamins. There was supposed to be an online class to explain your results. I was never able to connect to the class. This is a huge disappointment.

### 1/5 — Clunky ap

*2022-04-29, version 2.4*

I take DNA results with a grain of salt, so I won’t comment on the accuracy of their results but the ap is built terribly. Text overlaps, frozen screens with no back button or X out option. Pages are hard to read and formatting is off. I’d expect more from a paid service.

### 1/5 — Not Worth the Money - Suspicious Factual Basis

*2021-12-07, version 2.4*

As a medical professional and graduate degreed engineer, this does not seem very scientifically based at all. I’d love to remain objective about what I’ve seen. But honestly, the impression I’ve been left with after reading the analysis they give you; at the very least has left me quite unfulfilled and disappointed from a content perspective. I felt the guidance was very general and generic. It was more like what you’d see by searching the internet on any health site; and did not appear to be based on a true analysis of the DNA data that I sent them. Also, many of the results were counter to what several doctors have told me…..about me. For example: The carbohydrate analysis they provided me is actually the direct opposite from what I’ve seen in practice with my diet, including intermittent fasting.

Also the recommendations/results they give seem to more come from common sense conclusions drawn from the “health survey” they ask you to fill out, rather than from an actual analysis of your DNA data. Unfortunately, this does not seem very scientifically based at all, nor did it offer me any credible insight on how to improve my health. I’m willing to accept that for legal reasons this has to be generic. But I’m really curious of what kind of, in any, medical professionals are involved in this process…..I mean actually involved and not just a name they claim. I’d love to hear a response from the owners of this product on the specific issues I raise. But so far, this seems like good money for a bad product.

### 1/5 — App is not working

*2021-11-13, version 2.4*

The app doesn’t work with the new apple update. It keeps enlarging the screen making it difficult to get out.

### 1/5 — Useless Money Pit

*2021-09-02, version 2.3.116*

I do not know how the developers and staff can sleep at night selling this load of garbage. Iam a medical professional diagnosed with Celiac Disease 21 years ago. I have “classic”symptoms as did my mother and so do several children and grandchildren, and yet my so called personal results say that I am unlikely to be sensitive to gluten. That is a red flag to me! I can’t trust ANYTHING GenoPalate concludes from access to my DNA ! The results do not seem to be tailor fitted whatsoever, my friend purchased her analysis at the same time that I did, she is an athlete in peak condition whereas I am retired and nearly sedentary, yet our personal recommendations were identical. Interestingly we are both vegan and our “plans” are mostly meat and dairy. Thanks for nothing!
The recommended percentages “for me” are ripped right from the pages a of the antiquated Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is the reason. All of us come here, thinking there is a scientific way to approach eating that is different for everyone. This is nothing more than a marketing ploy to sell you “personalized” vitamins (which I can assure you they are not taking into consideration issues such as malabsorption or Covid-19 or else they wouldn’t be trying to sell me less supplements than I already take in light of those factors.
Like so many reviewers here, and as a Registerd Nurse and Functional Nutritionist, I advise you to save your money and spend it at the gym or visiting a Functional Medicine physician, GenoPalate is general, non-specific, and non-individualized information.

### 1/5 — don’t bother!!

*2021-08-03, version 2.3.116*

I was suspicious but since there was a deal for people who’ve used 23andme I decided to give this a shot in case it did tell me something new and helpful.

Nope! So glad I got it on sale and can just shake my head at my choices rather than full on regret spending $80+. There are certain things I do know about my body from many doctor visits over the years that this is waaay off on it’s predictions (recommended carb intake being the absolute worst).

Seems like a roundabout way to sell diet / nutrition counseling without calling it that.

And trust me I understand they can’t predict things 100% from a DNA sample but honestly for the price the info you get just is not worth it. You can Google this information if you really tried.

If it was $20 sure, but for more than that you might as well make a 1:1 appointment with a professional nutritionist or endocrinologist. Blood work and a physical exam will give you so much more useful info.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A must have app/service for improved wellness

*2021-05-26, version 2.3.97*

Very impressed with the app and service overall. For once I feel like I’m making data/science-backed diet decisions that are making a difference in my life. Eating a diet customized to my genes and feeling great. Awesome!

### 5/5 — No issues

*2021-04-11, version 2.3.83*

I can’t login using my iPhone 7. The submit button below the password field is offscreen.

Ok update. I reset phone phone setting to factory default w/o erasing any data. Issue resolved.

### 5/5 — Great details

*2020-10-10, version 2.3.37*

I have found the information in my report very informative and has confirmed many things for me. I love how the research studies done for some gene types are included for reading to really show the necessity of required dietary needs. These studies and results have really helped confirm a condition I’ve known or thought I’ve had and the best diet to treat this condition. I find this really helpful. The new custom vitamins make sense and can’t wait to receive and with these and diet can’t wait to see how I feel.

I am almost half Native American and a splash of Spanish on my fathers side. I wish there was a way to find some genotypes related to this side of my heritage. I know the alcohol slow metabolism is a known trait but would like to see what other traits are also related to that side of gene pool.

### 5/5 — Food prep

*2020-10-06, version 2.3.37*

Now I just need a company to give my report to that can make my meals for me.

### 5/5 — Wow.

*2020-06-23, version 2.2.20*

Thank you for creating this. This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. It would be awesome if in the future you all could incorporate a nutrient tracker & calculator somehow. I’ll just be using another app for that now. Im grateful to know exactly what my body will benefit from and the fact that you’ve obtained your info from NIH studies that I can look up on my own. Asking for a calculator/tracker may be asking a bit too much but just thought I’d suggest it. I’m so happy to have this information. I appreciate you! ^_^ <3

### 5/5 — Warning-do not buy a report here—RETRACTED REVIEW

*2020-04-20, version 2.1.6*

I sent my 23&me info, paid my money and the only way to look at data is on this app or the website. When you try to download your report to a pdf file to print out you get a message that the file is corrupt. That sample report is lovely but I have given up on getting the real one. Is it my computer or them? I’ll never know. The only contact is a ‘chat’ which is a robot that only answers questions you never asked. I just tried sending a description of my problem by replying to an email they sent me which is probably only a one way thing. It would be better not to even have such an unresponsive chat dummy. Zero communication for problems. And zero hard copy report.

Retraction: Still not happy with the chat communication not being responsive but GenoPalate responded quickly to my review and told me to use Chrome or Firefox to download. By that time I had already made it work with iPhone and iPad. So the app is fine and I like the information, plus the company sends lots of emails with more good info. So I would highly recommend all but the chat function.

### 5/5 — Helpful App!

*2020-01-20, version 2.0.23*

I would like to post photos here- but I can’t find a way to do that.
Anyway- I love that the dietary information is tailored to me, and they rate the foods for me, as best to good. Top foods based on genetic-based nutrition recommendations.
I have found no bugs or issues within the app- as far as logging in, viewing information and moving from sector to sector.
I will update it if anything changes.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2019-12-10, version 2.0.23*

I love the GenoPalate app. It helps me really integrate my GenoPalate results into my everyday eating.

### 5/5 — 5 stars

*2019-12-10, version 2.0.23*

Love having more foods on the app! Access to the genetics articles is really interesting too.

### 4/5 — App is crashing and support page is blank - something went ‘wrong ’

*2024-03-20, version 5.0.4*

As above iphone 11
