## What is Geodotty?

Geodotty is a geography quiz all about the internet's country domains, known as ccTLDs. Every country has its own ending: .fi stands for Finland, .jp for Japan, .br for Brazil.

How it works:
A domain appears on the screen and you tap the correct country on the map. Each round, ten countries are randomly drawn, so no two rounds are the same.

Two ways to play:
- Quiz: the more accurate and fast you are, the higher your score. Afterwards you enter the leaderboard and can share your result.
- Learn mode: no timer, no scoring. Get it wrong once and Geodotty names the country you are looking for; get it wrong again and four countries stay marked on the map to choose from.

Two maps:
- Europe: a selection of 39 European countries
- World map: a selection of 113 countries from around the world

What you'll learn:
Geodotty bridges geography and the internet. You'll train yourself to know which domain belongs to which country and where it sits on the map. Perfect for school, curious learners, or anyone who wants to make the most of their free time.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.3 — 2026-10-06

New: What actually is a TLD?
Tap ⓘ on the start screen to find out what's behind the endings of web addresses, where codes like .ch come from and why Tuvalu makes money with .tv.

Also:
• Updated for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27
• The start button shows you when you're ready to go
• Lots of small visual improvements

### 1.2.2 — 2026-09-05

Fixed: if you had zoomed into the map and answered incorrectly, the correct country was often outside the visible area, so you never got to see the solution. The map now zooms back out to keep the country in view.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-07

- LEARN MODE for web addresses! Find countries without time pressure, without a high score. (Version 1.1.0)
- High scores and settings now stay reliably in place. (Version 1.2.0)

Housekeeping update (1.2.1):
- Greenland is in, it has its own top-level domain.
- The layout on iPad has been scaled up.
- Learn mode: countries you have already tried stay marked in red. You can see at a glance what is already ruled out.
- In some cases the keyboard covered the input field. Fixed.
- The progress dots are easier to make out.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-07-29

• New: LEARN MODE for internet addresses! Find countries with no time pressure and no high score. (Version 1.1.0)
• High scores and settings now carry over when you move to a new device (backup).
• Learn mode: improved layout of the result dots.
• Cyprus is now easier to tap.
• New logo

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-21

New: LEARN MODE for internet addresses! No time pressure, no high score: find the countries on the map. Activate via the toggle: a wrong guess first gives you a hint, then a narrower selection, before the answer appears. Also: smaller improvements to usability and design.
