## What is GeogIT?

GEOGIT has been designed to modernise fieldwork and reduce paper consumption by enabling electronic data collection of 35 different methods ranging across both physical and human geography investigations. GEOGIT uses your phones ability to log your coordinates saving not only your data but the exact location in which it was recorded.

Behind the scenes with every bit of information you log an Excel spreadsheet is being built. Upon completion of your fieldwork your data is sent to you immediately as separate Excel files. No more will data be lost as a result of a torrential downpour, a freak gust of wind or leaving the booklet on the bus … and don’t worry, if your battery dies or you close the app all of your data is automatically saved to the archives. Where you can load it up again and pick up from where you left off.

That’s not even the best of it… the files which you receive are automatically saved in a csv format enabling you to simply drag the files directly into ArcGIS and watch as your results are displayed geospatially within seconds!

GEOGIT aims to replace the outdated dependence on clipboards and paper booklets and instead allows you to electronically collect your information for 35 different methods of data collection.

### 5/5 — Class

*2022-06-14*

Its class

### 1/5 — Don’t download

*2021-02-09*

Won’t send the results- waste of time.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work, a scam

*2021-02-09*

Genuinely take my advice and don’t get it, waste of time and effort as it doesn’t even work and send your data. U buy it for convenience yet it does the opposite!!! The annoying thing is u can’t even see your results! That should be something the editors should look into. I have to re do my NEA now as my data is all gone.

### 1/5 — didn’t send me results

*2021-01-27*

let me collect results but didn’t email them to me. don’t download- useless

**Developer response:** You need to ensure that Apple Mail is installed on your phone as this is the tool that GeogIT uses to send your data.

### 1/5 — crashes constantly

*2020-11-21*

Got this app to try help with collection of data for my A level NEA. This app worked well when using the ‘try geographyIT’ section but as soon as I was out doing my fieldwork the app crashed or had a blank screen every time I went to put data in. Complete waste of money and can’t find anyone to contact.

### 2/5 — You can’t edit anything

*2020-11-01*

App works well for the most part but I can’t edit any of the data once put it in and also cannot change the e-mail I’d like it to be sent to and now cannot receive my work as a result. Don’t know if there any way around this but is very tedious

### 1/5 — Data will not send!

*2020-10-19*

Unfortunately this app is not working for me. I’ve spent all day collecting data and when I go to send it it just brings me back to the send results page. What do I do?

**Developer response:** You need to ensure that Apple Mail is installed on your phone as this is the tool that GeogIT uses to send your data.

### 5/5 — Changing my review

*2020-09-02*

On looking at the app a little further the “Car Age and “ Car Reg” features are a bit too personal and an invasion of privacy.

Where does the information go when it is received and who reads the data? That is my main concern.

I will still give the app 5 stars... but I won’t recommend the app on the principals I have stated.

If those two features were to be replaced by something less personal .... I might consider use the app. So for the time being I am uninstalling the app and hope the developer appreciates the feedback.

### 4/5 — Great app, great idea!

*2020-07-14*

A fantastic idea and very user friendly. The user interface is straightforward and up to date and the ability to integrate your data with ArcGis means students are finally moving away from the outdated clipboard and written presentations of results. Not to say these methods do not have their place, but how many industries really still write out and present data using a pencil and ruler!? The app still has some bugs- I found the decibel meter to not record properly but having a decibel meter on a phone is always going to be problematic. The other methods work well and emailed me results on an excel spreadsheet with longitude and latitude for each separate study location. I can imagine this app getting better with each update.

### 3/5 — Great app - no editing features???

*2020-02-03*

The app it’s self is great. All the fieldwork practices are accessible and data collection is simple. However, once saved you can’t edit the data. Additionally, the app doesn’t let you add further data collection methods to your fieldwork folder, after you have initially selected the methods. This means that I had to create more folders and when a mistake was made, I had to start again!

I also had issues sending the final data to my email. The send button was not actively responding and I received no data......

This app needs work. Has the potential to be of value to school geography trips in the future. Can’t recommend it just yet, unfortunately . But great concept!
