Ever. ### 1/5 — Horrendous *2026-01-15, version 3.26.8* If I could give this app a 0 star I would. It’s glitchy and it never works. I get locked out of my apartment everyday and reliable entries that never fail me suddenly stop working. My complex has had Geokey people come out and fix specific entrances but then new ones break. Everyone in my complex has the same problem. Don’t sign with a complex that has this app. Give me my fob back ### 1/5 — Absolutely trash *2025-11-13, version 3.26.3* This is genuinely one of, if not THE worst app i have ever used in my entire life. It works maybe 3% of the time and even thats being generous. At first, it was just extremely slow to unlock my door, but ive reached the point now where it just straight up doesn’t work and i cant unlock my apartment door on my phone anymore. I have to now text my roommate every time so he can unlock the door if he’s home. Otherwise, im locked out of my apartment for extended periods of time, which has happened multiple times now. Theres also a “backup access” button where you dont have to hold your phone up to the lock and instead can unlock it “manually” by just clicking the button on the app, but dont worry, that also doesnt work! If i could give this app 0 stars, i would. I’ll be out late at night unable to get inside because the app won’t work. 0/5 stars ### 1/5 — Literally breaks my phone *2025-10-16, version 3.26.3* I would give zero if I could. This app literally breaks my phone. I go to try and unlock my door, and it opens my apple wallet and then freezes literally everything. I have had to memorize how to restart my phone without being able to touch the screen. Even when this doesn’t happen, it is not guaranteed that I can unlock my door anyway. I have gotten locked outside of my apartment for over an hour before. I cannot fathom why anyone would choose this over a key fob. So unreliable. ### 1/5 — Unsafe for women *2025-08-21, version 3.26.3* It takes too long to get into my apartment. I’ve been stalked in the past before and it shouldn’t take a minute for me to get back into my apartment. Please be mindful of this. ### 1/5 — Worthless Application *2025-08-20* There is no benefit for implementing this app, even if it did work perfectly(which it obviously doesn’t). Instead of a physical keycard we have to use this app to open all the doors in my apartment complex. It takes at least 5 seconds to open any door(including my room) and half the time the app will say it was successful, but the door won’t open. If we had a physical keycard, it would just scan and open. It also takes forever to sort through which door is the one we need. Sure it has a favorite function, but I wouldn’t need a favorite function if I just had a keycard. Also, now that my phone is my key, I need to keep my key charged, connected to the internet, and keep my phone on me at all times. Additionally, there is no benefit to using this app over a physical keycard. A physical key can do everything this app can do, and the physical key is more convenient than this app. NEVER USE THIS ### 1/5 — Locks and App don’t work *2025-08-10, version 3.26.3* Plain and simple review: after having the lock installed on my apartment door for a month, the lock has become completely unresponsive to the app. If you use this, you will end up with a broken lock and no way to unlock it. Do not install this at your property. ### 1/5 — Who thought this was a good idea? *2025-08-03, version 3.26.3* Electronic apps particularly in areas that do not have great service are a recipe for disaster. This app is spotty at best. Our complex put this on the gym / clubhouse and I love getting up at 430am, taking pre workout just to get over there and you can’t get in the door when it’s supposed to be open at 5am. Chat help is essentially useless as they always blame maintenance. Do not recommend ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2025-07-26, version 3.26.2* This is literally the worst thing ever created. How is knight circle going to switch from something that worked to this abominable trash. ### 1/5 — What a Lovely App *2025-07-25* Our apartment complex recently switched to GeoKey instead of barcodes for our cars. To open our gates, we now have to take out our phones while driving, open the app and pick the location of the gate we are at. 75% of the time, it'll say you're too far to open it, despite staring directly to my right at the "geo" key reader less than 3 meters away. Then I will sit at the gate, maybe even have to restart the app, and try again. Good news is it has never taken more than 3 tries. For the love of god, look at the ratings of this garbage before forcing your residents to swap to this horrendous replacement. ### 1/5 — Not good *2025-07-22, version 3.26.2* Takes too long to use effectively, worse than a key or PIN code ### 1/5 — Move In Fail *2025-07-21, version 3.26.2* Spent an entire day fighting the app. Turned a 2 hour move in into an 8 hour struggle. Couldn’t access elevators or exterior doors. Had to walk up six flights of stairs with boxes instead of using the elevator. Customer support had no amswers except “reboot your phone.” Total failure of an app. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2025-07-21, version 3.26.2* Extremely unsafe if app does not work and then you are locked out of your apartment. Inconvenient I do not know why this app exists ### 1/5 — Bluetooth fails to connect *2025-06-12, version 3.25.0* So glad that it takes me 5 extra minutes to open my door all bc of your app ### 1/5 — Stick with physical keys or fobs. *2025-06-11* This platform has been nothing but problematic since it was rolled out across our apartment community. I live in a building where parking is subterranean, so the cellular signals are weak and there’s no community WiFi. I would say that these are the primary contributing issues but even on surface levels, you will often be met with “connectivity” issues or inability to access your property based on perceived location of the device you’re using to gain entry. - I will give the company kudos in that it is very easy to connect with a support representative, but the initial recommendations are that you should restart your phone after deleting and redownloading the app. (Which also requires a separate verification process.) I’ve had to plead with representatives while locked outside in freezing temperatures or torrential rain and in many cases, they can remotely unlock the door. That’s nice, but if I didn’t have my phone or if the power had been off, I’d’ve been screwed. ### 1/5 — Updated hardware same garbage software *2025-04-19, version 3.25.0* So glad your team of in cells finally change the hardware for these door locks but the software is still so terrible that you all should be embarrassed at the job that you do. You should all go back to living underground, and stick to what you’re good at. ### 3/5 — Please add haptic feedback *2025-03-24* When I’m walking up to my apartment door and holding groceries in one hand and my phone with this app open in the other hand, it’s difficult to “tap” to unlock without my finger sliding a bit. But because my finger slid, it doesn’t register as a tap, and nothing happens. But I don’t know that for several seconds while I wait for the door to unlock. What would help is if when I successfully tap, the button darkens briefly and the phone vibrates to tell me it was successful. Then if not, I’ll immediately know and won’t have to wait several seconds. Thanks! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — THE WORST APP EVER *2026-07-21* This might be the single worst app I’ve ever been forced to download. My apartment complex recently removed our physical locks and forced us to use digital locks, which would be fine, if it weren’t for this horrible, poorly managed app. I am not sure how the developers can see that this app has 1.5/5 stars with 608 reviews. I will pull up to our gate, scroll through the 25 different buttons, click on the right one, and it will tell me that my device doesn’t have permissions to open the gate… even though I had previously open that gate earlier in the day. Having to constantly uninstall and reinstall in order for it to work is ridiculous. Please fix this app… ### 1/5 — Inconvenient and frequently malfunctions *2026-06-22* My brand new apartment complex uses Geokey and it took months after moving in for doors to start working. The user interface is horrible and frequently will glitch and require restarting the app. Over the last couple of weeks almost every day I have to delete and reinstall the app and re-login to get it to work. Not only is this unsafe when trying to access your home, but it is a major inconvenience when trying to carry groceries or anything else to your unit. In addition to this, there was a homeless person sleeping in an empty unit in my apartment complex exemplifying how the system does not even increase building security. Unbelievable and embarrassing for any apartment complex that adopts this technology. ### 1/5 — Worst Door Lock Ever! *2026-06-21* This door lock is one of the worst investments that my apartment complex has ever made. The locks malfunction constantly and due to “update” the mobile app never works. In order to even get into the door, I am forced to uninstall and redownload the app, so that it can reconnect to the door lock. Additionally, this door lock poses a safety threat, with multiple instances where I have locked the door and it has unlocked on its own accord. I would not recommend this door locking system to any residential households or apartment complexes, and frankly can not wait to move out of my apartment complex so I do not have to deal with this horrible lock any longer! ### 1/5 — Constant Issues *2026-06-21* The idea is cool in theory, if the app works correctly. However, it does not. It constantly glitches, freezes, and does not work. I’ve been locked out of the front gate, and the only answer is to sit there and delete the app off of my phone, find it in the App Store and re-upload it again, and all my information again, and then maybe it will work. I was sitting there trying to open your door.. if you want to let anybody in for deliveries, you might as well walk over there and open the door yourself. Or maybe just go get it yourself because it’s such a pain to get anybody actually to your door. I’ve already had to delete & re-upload at least 10 times to make it work again since I moved in 2 months ago . ### 1/5 — DO NOT USE *2026-06-19* This app is terrible! Do not use it. I had to get it because my apartment complex installed Geokey. This was the worst decision they have ever made. The app never works. I’ve been locked out of my house and the gates numerous times by the time I get someone on the phone is already 20 minutes on the phone. They tell me to delete the app and reinstall it but then when I do that, I get locked out of my account and suspended because it registers too many devices which is weird because my phone number and my phone have not changed every time I re-download this. The technical support people are nice, but this app is terrible. I can’t put into words how much I hate this app. They always have updates and then your app doesn’t work again. It’s so terrible they need to fix this!!!! ### 1/5 — I’ve never met a more useless app *2026-06-19* The first two months I would’ve given this app a 5 star review now three months into living at my apartment complex and I wish I could rate this a zero. You do not get a notification or warning that the app needs to be updated, it simply stops working. This caused me to miss out on a job because I ended up being late for an interview. Once my apartment complex told us that deleting the app and redownloading it would fix the issues, it seemed to work all of three times before it stopped again. Getting into the building is one thing as I have a physical key but now I can not access any of the amenities I pay for because the app doesn’t work. If I delete the app and redownload it before every single use that seems to make it work but who in their right mind is going to be doing that? ### 1/5 — unreliable access to your home *2026-06-11* This is genuinely the worst thing ever. it is embarrassing that a company is comfortable putting such an unreliable lock on doors. i cannot access my apartment often which has caused me to be locked out for over an hour. there is also no warning for low battery so enjoy coming home from vacation and having to wait hours for someone to be able to change the battery that you didn’t know was low and would have changed before leaving if i known. their “updates” do nothing beneficial just cause bugs and create more trouble gaining access to your home ### 1/5 — Terrible Issues *2026-03-29, version 3.26.9* This app sucks. The programming for this electronic door knob is the dumbest thing ever created. Why the heck can’t I just have a REGULAR DOOR KNOW with an ACTUAL KEY. I’ve had so many issues with my apartment door because of this door knob. I called GeoKey maintenance and they were just telling me “delete and reinstall the app” or “sign out and sign back in” or “try the door from different angles” uhm… I just want a regular key man. I’m locked out right now, not sure what to do. I’ll have a good talk with the manager of my apartment complex as well. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work half the time *2026-03-22, version 3.26.9* Use this at my apartment complex and it is so inconvenient. Doesn’t work half the time or having to wait outside for 10 minutes while it tries to unlock the door. I’ve submitted questions and issues thru the app that have always been responded to immediately. I’ve had amazing attention and customer service from David Warneke resolving issues with resident and delivery driver cards not working. He has gone above and beyond to help get them added back and follows up to make sure all systems are good. He’s a pleasure to work with and I know he will make sure any issues are resolved. Thank you for a great product and the amazing customer service. ### 5/5 — Ease of use, I like the app! *2024-07-25, version 3.19.2* So we just installed Geokey at the complex I manage/reside at and must say I enjoy the system. With technology, there will be issues here and there similar to other apps, phones or even NCAA25 lol with glitches & updates needed lol. System works well and from time to time a Bluetooth connection error may occur but not a lot to where I’m annoyed. I like the fact there is the app, key and code however being a student housing provider we're only using the app since we lease by the bed rather than unit. Make sure to label common area spaces properly so tenants know the exact door they're trying to access if multiple onsite. Not everyone has a car or keep a charger so we installed a phone charger station out front to in case a tenants phone dies. From a residents point of view, the system is easy to use in accessing my apartment, gym, lab and pool. In regard to actual tech support, I've yet to contact them so can't speak much on response and resolution times of that department. Overall, again I like the system and ease of access. David W. was great before, during and after install in following up with me about a tenant I stated with issues or adding them in the system. Compared to other electronic key systems I've worked with, this has been the better option for me. ### 5/5 — The BEST! *2024-05-08* I’ve been a user of Geokey for over a year and it has brought so much simplicity to my life. I’ve lost so many keys and fobs at old apartments. But now I never have to worry because I almost always have my phone on me. Also really like being able to set a PIN number for my door handle so I don’t have to always use my phone.
