## What is Geoss GO?

GEOSS GO is a GPS-guided outdoor "forest escape" game with 13 stations. Players walk between physical stations, solve puzzles, enter passwords via a combination-lock UI, and race against the clock.


## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8.8 — 2026-08-10

We replaced the background location services with foreground - made it less intrusive, too. Now, the app uses GPS only when app is running (active or minimized), and also does a better job at picking which locations to fire events for (visited locations are freed from the memory, future ones are kept, and now if users get lost we reuse the app's logic for calculating off-path location to alert users to get back on track).

### 1.8.5 — 2026-08-06

App already uses location to guide users on the trail, and help them to not stray off the path. Still... some users simply lock their phone screens, stash the phones in their pockets and essentially miss all the hints the game gives them.

In order to provide a transient guide, we rely on geofencing which is just the coordinates of the 14 game stations (spread out along a forest trail in about 2.7 kilometers).

Improved the Language Toggle, and introduced it to multiple screens (first screen, side drawer settings, and top header buttons in general).
