## What is GeoTrace?

GeoTrace turns GPS coordinates into clear, accurate geographic information. Create projects, record points in the field or place them on the map, and instantly see distances, elevation gain, grades and areas — then explore everything in 2D, in 3D, or on an interactive elevation profile.

PROJECTS
• Create as many projects as you need, each with its own name, description and reference location
• Edit, rename, duplicate or delete projects at any time
• All your data is stored on your iPhone

POINTS, YOUR WAY
• Record your current position with the iPhone’s GPS, with live accuracy readings
• Average several GPS readings to improve precision when you stand still
• Elevation from the iPhone’s barometer, with GPS as a fallback
• Tap the map to add points, or type coordinates in decimal or degrees/minutes/seconds
• Move, rename, describe and reorder points, and tell them apart with markers

AUTOMATIC MEASUREMENTS
• Distance between any two points and total route distance
• Straight-line distance and distance along existing trails and paths
• Elevation gain (D+) and loss (D−), minimum and maximum elevation
• Average, net and maximum grades
• Horizontal and 3D distance, including elevation change
• Everything updates instantly as you add, move or delete points

AREAS
• Draw polygons from 3 or more points and get their area and perimeter
• Save several polygons per project, each with its own name and color
• Warnings when a polygon’s sides cross

MAPS AND 3D
• Standard, hybrid and satellite maps
• Route lines, distance labels, and clear start and end markers
• 3D terrain view: rotate, tilt and zoom, orbit the area or fly over your route
• Interactive elevation profile: slide across the chart to see each spot on the map

IMPORT AND EXPORT
• Export projects to GPX, KMZ and KML (Google Earth and compatible apps)
• Export individual polygons to KMZ, KML, GeoJSON (QGIS and other GIS) and GPX
• Import KML, KMZ and GPX files

DESIGNED FOR THE OUTDOORS
• A clean, minimal interface inspired by the colors of the Earth
• Light and Dark Mode
• English and Spanish
• Metric or imperial units: kilometers, meters and hectares, or miles, feet and acres

Ideal for hiking and trail running, field work, agriculture and forestry, land and property measurement, outdoor education, or anyone curious about the terrain around them.

Terrain elevations for points placed on the map and distances along trails require an internet connection. GPS accuracy depends on your device and surroundings; GeoTrace is not intended for legal surveying or navigation in hazardous conditions.
