### 5/5 — Much better than a list of synonyms

*2025-09-09*

This app is much better than my previous German dictionary app, which just gives a synonym or two for each entry. The following from Bertrand Russell is far easier to understand and remember if you learn the meaning of each subword from this dictionary:

> Facts which are not compounded of other facts are what Mr. Wittgenstein calls Sachverhalte, whereas a fact which may consist of two or more facts is a Tatsache:

### 5/5 — Great app!

Deserves more love. It's really well thought out and gives good detail. I also like the section where you can look at words that start with the same prefix.

Got this cuz so many german words weren't sticking for me. The prefixes make a lot of them look the same to me. So learning the etymology really helps me remember.

### 5/5 — This App Is Amazing

This app is amazing!!! It blows my mind that someone put this together. It has so much information packed into it, plus references and excerpts from source material. Seems like a real etymological labor of love. And also, it appears there’s precious few general resources for German etymology out there, making this doubly valuable. Thank you to the developer!!

### 5/5 — Straightforward and Useful!

I decided to use this in conjunction with Duolingo to help me get that extra click of understanding from each new word. The hyperlinks that appear within the definition makes it easy to jump to different related words, which I appreciate. And, although the overall appearance isn’t extravagant, the satisfaction of really understanding why a word is the way it is and what it literally means leaves me happy after each search. Thanks!
