### 3/5 — GestrumentPro NotWork In AUM as IAA

*2025-10-11, version 1.2.1*

GestrumentPro, the AUM does not work well. Its interface is incomplete. In its lower left part, where the scales are placed, that we would like to work on, it does not show it. And in the configuration, of the instrument, I refer to the sliding list, when you want to get to the end of this, to select CC or CHANNEL, it is not fixed there, in case you want to make changes. The list is returned and does not display. I think that GestrumentPro is a very good app. to stop using it for this.

### 2/5 — Meh

*2022-08-09, version 1.2.1*

Not so much.

### 4/5 — Is this pure greed?

*2021-08-09, version 1.2.1*

I would like to at the Very least be able to SEE... or TRY ... before throwing $18 atya mate.
Dont you think your sales are totally buggered from lack of giving an inch to score a mile?
Cmon jigga! POP that charli!

### 5/5 — must have, essential instrument

*2021-03-20, version 1.2.1*

👍🏻

### 5/5 — Words Fail Me

*2021-02-02, version 1.2.1*

If there were six stars for this I would give them.
This has got to be the most underrated app for music composers. It is a work of genius from a real music composer/programmer team.
If you spend a month on it, you have only scratched the surface!
It has revived my inspiration. Reminds me of the old electronic music, Krautrock/Experimental days, but now revived. Many thanks to the developers. Keep up this wonderful work!

### 5/5 — Incredible App

*2020-11-20, version 1.2.1*

I’m not sure if there is anything else like this on the App Store. I use it for composing a variety of types of music as well as control a number of different devices. Great job Dev!

### 3/5 — Cool App But Complicated

*2020-08-27, version 1.2*

I got this app when it was listed on sale for free on AppRaven. I signed up for the free trial. It was very cool, but complicated and counterintuitive for a beginner. I feel sure that this app is probably great for a professional who knows what they’re doing.

### 5/5 — Wow love this app

*2020-08-02, version 1.2*

Fun useful amazing functionality great sound. I love this app.

### 5/5 — Combines Live/sequenced Control

*2020-05-22, version 1.2*

Gestrument Pro gives you a lot of control over all aspects of the instruments whether they’re internal sounds or using its MIDI output to control other synth apps or MIDI hardware. There are a wide variety of available scales, you can import your own scala files, or even use MIDI to create sequences which are activated as you move across the surface.

It’s one of the music apps that take advantage of what a mobile touch surface device has to offer.

There are plenty of demonstration presets you can use to learn more about the possibilities the app has to offer as well as built-in help describing all aspects of the app.

The latest update adds even more control options.

### 5/5 — A Marvel

*2020-05-22, version 1.2*

There are few apps that truly utilise the touch interface for music making. This is one of them.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — …and this is supposed to make money?

*2024-03-24, version 1.2.1*

Then again, i’d probably pay some four year old to play a lot of random keys on his beginner casio keyboard and get the same result. I didn’t waste any money, just some good time off of my life, this app made me want to vomit on the spot.

### 1/5 — Click bait

*2023-07-23, version 1.2.1*

Waste of time. Can’t even try it without first paying. Not even so much as a 1 minute free trial. Nothing. Nothing at all. Would you buy a car without test driving it first? If you had given a free 20 minute trial, I would have probably then bought it….as it is, you’ve just lost my money. Bad business.

### 1/5 — Dumb and Lazy

*2022-05-22, version 1.2.1*

Every other app maker on the planet is smart enough to let you actually play the instrument before requiring you to put in a 15 letter/number password. If I cannot try the thing without putting in my password, I have no idea if this app is something I will actually like. Not going to put in a long password and sign up for a subscription before playing it. End of story!

### 1/5 — Bad

*2021-05-10, version 1.2.1*

I am better off listening to a randomly generated song.

### 1/5 — Are you kidding me??

*2021-04-30, version 1.2.1*

Im was very exited to make finally make beats for free on this app, as soon as I open the app, it tells me to for a free trial
THEN pay for something. Now I have to find another free beat app as I'm deleting this.

### 1/5 — Forces subscription for trial.

*2020-10-04, version 1.2*

What if people want to try the app without divulging any financial information?

### 1/5 — Ohh, Kay...

*2020-08-03, version 1.2*

If you LOVE piano, this is the app for you. I had the distinct impression that it had other instruments.

### 1/5 — Scam Alert

*2020-07-15, version 1.2*

They make you subscribe monthly just to try the product... i hate how these apps play these mindgames

### 1/5 — Could have been a great app

*2020-07-12, version 1.2*

But instead it just crashes when hit the midi controls in the settings which make unusable with any other app, daw, or instrument !

### 1/5 — A little stupid, but it’s okay

*2020-06-12, version 1.2*

My question is, why must I have a free trial to NOTES? Why do I even have to PAY for notes? At least make the game free access without any trials, and just limit some things. That’s all I have to say, but still a good app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Still amazing - easy to use, fun and powerful

*2026-01-01, version 1.2.1*

I’ve had this app for years but didn’t properly engage with it when I first got it. However, having rediscovered it I find it to be one of the best iPad specific music making apps out there. I’ve just hooked it up with Mass and it’s a whole world of fun. Being able to load up midi files then effectively sample the notes in a new musical way is wonderful. Belated thank you to the developer, and I hope you are able to keep this one going.

### 5/5 — Worth buying an iPad for!

*2025-05-29, version 1.2.1*

Worth buying an iPad for.

My No1 favourite app for live performance (the second being FigueMachineRubato)

Could do with some additional features like preset folders. I fear it not being further supported & developed.

### 5/5 — Hoping for an update…auv…still unique and incredible

*2025-03-25, version 1.2.1*

So good. Worth it.

### 5/5 — What a brilliant app

*2025-01-29*

Brilliant. Such an innovative and well thought out approach to music writing and performance. Perhaps more training videos would help to ‘on-board’ more users (and drive up sales).

### 5/5 — Genius Software

*2024-06-06, version 1.2.1*

I’m still amazed at the absolute genius behind this software. Is the user interface dated?… Sure, BUT for an app that hasn’t been updated in 3 years the dev’s initial creativity in how to make incredibly powerful software as simple and intuitive to use as this App is… I’m absolutely blown away. This has to be the single most underrated piece of software and I’m desperately hoping that an update gets dropped even if it’s just improved auv3 plugin support. My biggest fear is this App disappearing from the App Store because my live performances heavily incorporate this app. Thank you so much for creating such a brilliant app. Hope to see an update. Much love —

Original Review: This is the coolest music app I have found, but I’m afraid it might be abandoned now. Hopefully this will get a response from the developer, I’d love to see continued work on this app, there is nothing else like it

### 5/5 — Why are some of the best apps ‘abandoned’? :-(

*2024-03-05, version 1.2.1*

Despite no auv3 and therefore not supported by logic this is still worth having.

Nice musical expression with no experience or music theory and possibilities to create your own musical playground with some.

Such a good use of multi touch, thanks for the fun. 🙂

### 5/5 — Awesome App, but afraid it’s abandoned

*2022-12-28, version 1.2.1*

This is the coolest music app I have found, but I’m afraid it might be abandoned now. Hopefully this will get a response from the developer, I’d love to see continued work on this app, there is nothing else like it

**Developer response:** We are still working on the underlaying tech, but right now we are not working directly on updating the app. That might change though - thanks for your support and always report any bugs you find!

### 5/5 — i have to wait for the subscription to end? Rlly?

*2021-08-18, version 1.2.1*

my only gripe here is NOT BEING ABLE TO BUY RIGHT NOW until my subscription runs out
Its actually really annoying for me because i wanted to use my birthday giftcard on this specifically
Please can i get it now? Lol

### 5/5 — Very cool app

*2021-05-13, version 1.2.1*

Great app. Tons of creative fun. Ability to make cool songs and performances using built in sounds and/or by sending midi from Gestrument Pro to other synths. You can send midi anywhere and with iPadOS/IOS there are so many midi routing possibilities using apps like Audiobus and AUM and and MIDIfire and even Korg Gadget. I send midi from Gestrument Pro to synths hosted in AUM. HOPEFULLY anyone reading this knows about AUM and what you can do, like hosting as many audio unit synths and effects plugins as you want and sequencing using Gestrument Pro.

### 5/5 — Mind boggling

*2021-04-25, version 1.2.1*

This is not an XOX sequencer—it allows you to create a dynamic, musical ecosystem that responds to touch in amazing ways. It rewards both careful planning and intuitive exploration.
