## What is Gesundheits­zeugnis?

Get the German health certificate required for food work: complete the online first instruction (“Erstbelehrung”) under Section 43 of the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG) on your iPhone.

No appointment at the public health office (“Gesundheitsamt”), no travel, and no waiting room. The course takes about 10 minutes on average and is conducted under medical supervision. The issued certificate is recognized throughout Germany.

This also applies to temporary staff, part-time workers, interns, and students.

LEGAL BACKGROUND
“Gesundheitszeugnis” is the common German term for the first instruction under Section 43(1) IfSG. It covers work restrictions under Section 42 IfSG and reporting duties for people who handle food professionally.

The first instruction itself remains valid indefinitely. When starting relevant work for the first time, the certificate must be no more than three months old. The employer’s follow-up instruction every two years is not part of this app course and must be organized by the employer.
