### 4/5 — Good

*2026-01-02, version 2.3.1*

Very good at telling you to get off the phone but once you go on it one it non stop alerts you to get off. It can be frustrating.

### 4/5 — Good app but

*2023-04-17*

Wish it could send notifications when unlocking your phone and have a feature where it’s on the lock screen like the timer app.

### 4/5 — Need setting lock during active

*2021-08-07, version 2.3.1*

Good over all

### 4/5 — Good but one strange thing

*2020-10-30*

It’s a good app and it works but uuuumm it calls me John Doe and I have no clue who that is my name is Elodie.?!

### 3/5 — Music Compatible?

*2019-10-12*

I can’t stand working in silence so I used the app as directed except I had music playing. It continually gave me the notifications even though I hadn’t left the app and my phone was locked. I turned off lockscreen notifications to get around it but I shouldn’t have to resort to that. Is the app really against music playing when the phone is locked or is this a bug? Either way it needs to be fixed.

### 5/5 — It's great and here is some advice

*2019-08-31*

This app works really well but I just wish that it could do more to annoy you and keep you off your phone than just annoying the heck out of you with the notification! Such as forcing you out of an app that you are on for more than 30 seconds

### 5/5 — Love it

*2019-05-03*

It’s so annoying that it makes you get off your phone. I bought premium version to schedule sessions. I’m bad about saying I will get off at certain times of the day but find myself wasting more time. Love the fact it doesn’t lock you out of your phone, just annoys you till you give up and put the phone down.

### 5/5 — Absolutely perfect

*2019-04-17*

I had a phone addiction and this app is literally the best thing that I’ve come across. It syncs perfectly with my watch and I love the scheduled seasons! Love it. A+

**Developer response:** Hey andhaus,

I'm so happy to hear that. I'm glad you're loving the app and I'm glad it has helped you!

### 4/5 — Emergency off

*2019-03-25*

It’s a great thing to use, but I think it’s ABSURD that the emergency off is for premium. I had a call with my boss and it kept vibrating and they said “what’s that noise” and all I could say was “it’s an app telling me to get off my phone” and they asked why I didn’t turn it off and I told them. He chuckled and said it was stupid (he’s a bit younger -older than me though- so he laughs at lots of things) And all we could do was laugh and hear a vibrating whenever we were trying to talk about work because you thought we needed to PAY to turn it off. It’s called an EMERGENCY BUTTON for a reason I’m sure? Correct me if I’m wrong. 🙄

**Developer response:** Hey b00p,

Wow! I’m sorry to hear about that awkward interaction with your boss. I never thought about that possibility before. I’m glad they were a good sport about it but I’m sorry that happened. You’re right though, that seems like an oversight by me to make it a premium only feature. After your comment I’m already looking into ways I can make it shutoff for all users as soon as they get an incoming call.

Thanks for leaving a review and letting me know about what happened. If you have any more comments or suggestions feel free to email me at GetOffYourPhoneApp@gmail.com

### 3/5 — It’s good but 😕

*2019-03-22*

So I put it in 30 min so I put my phone away but it starts beeping and like I thought some texted me so I checked it’s said jonsh Don get off the phone but I wasn’t on my phone when I deleted it still keep going just one time and like later I download and it keep going like I got 20 text from them so it’s but it’s not the best even for kids.

Please tell me why the keep on going when you are not in your phone. Please tell me. Thank you bye.

**Developer response:** Hey wass up dogs,

I’m sorry that it wasn’t working correctly! That definitely shouldn’t be happening. When you locked your phone you made sure you kept the app open right? You should keep the app open after you start the 30 minutes and then lock your phone while the app is open. If you close the app first and then lock your phone the app doesn’t realize you’re off your phone and will start sending you notifications.

You can go ahead and send me an email at GetOffYourPhoneApp@gmail.com if this wasn’t your problem or if it didn’t fix your issue.

### 5/5 — Great Customer Service

*2018-09-13*

Great App- helpful features for anyone trying to be present and not on the phone - also great for kids who need to study! Helpful for ADHD folks

### 5/5 — Useful product, good customer service

*2018-06-15*

This app does what it says. I find it very useful for stopping my growing habit of looking at my phone instinctively when I’m bored or distracted. After using this app, I’m more thoughtful and deliberate about how much and why I am using my phone and I’m already setting better phone use habits. My phone is returning to its rightful place as a useful tool instead of a time waster.

After trying the free version 1.0.1 , I purchased the premium upgrade with themes. However, after the purchase I still could not access the premium features. The developer was quick to communicate with me when I requested help. When the suggested solutions did not work, the developer had an an upgrade available in less than 24 hours that fixed the problem.

After using the app, I think one great improvement would be to allow the user to schedule the app to begin at a certain time in the future or to operate at certain times on certain days of the week. This would allow the user to schedule the app to operate during the times of day when overuse is tempting, without the user having to pick up the phone and operate it at that time even for the purpose of turning on this app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Restrictions are not strong enough

*2020-10-23, version 2.1.0*

The notification stops after a while. The scheduled sessions also would not start automatically. Instead, you have to confirm for each session. As a tool to help people from being addicted to their phones this app really is too gentle to be helpful.
If would be better if the notification could not be turned off, and act like an alarm bell when the user exists the app. Furthermore, the scheduled sessions should start automatically without the need to confirm. To be honest, people using this app are not paying just for an alarm bell, asking them to put down my phone at specific time...... This app really can be more helpful so it’s a pity to find out that this is all it has got.

### 1/5 — It won’t shut up

*2020-04-17*

I got it to start being more self aware about just how much I’m on my phone but everytime I start the timer and set my phone down to study, it decided to start blowing my phone up and it wouldn’t stop. I put my phone on silent but the vibration still made noise and my screen still lit up. I’m also not sure why my music stopped playing a few times while the timer was in use.

### 1/5 — Why wont it let me change my fricken name!

*2020-04-04, version 2.1.0*

I HATE THIS APP DO NOT GET IT! IT SPAAAMMMMMMMSSS YOU WITH MESSAGES EVEN WHEN YOU TURN OFF YOUR DEVISE.
ALSO YOU CAN CHANGE YOU NAME UNLESS YOU HAVE A PREMIUM I HATE IT. Do not buy i repeat DO NOT BUY THIS APP IT IS A WAIST OF STORAGE

THANKS FOR COMING TO MY TED-TALK

The whole thing at the top is a lie don’t believe me install it is rubbish

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2020-01-19*

I got the app and I had it for like to seconds and it was telling me to get off my phone so I did and then when my phone was shut off every 2 seconds it would send me notifications to get off my phone when I wasn’t even on my phone plus it was sending me stupid notifications if any one gets this app I am sorry for you I hated this app it was horrible I had to delete it because it was so annoying witch with me when a app is bad I just keep it on my phone anyway but for this app I had to delete it!😒😒😒😤🙄🙄🙄

### 1/5 — So distracting

*2018-04-14*

Literally would not stop sending me notifications even when my phone was locked and I wasn’t using it.

### 2/5 — Fairly good but can be improved

*2020-01-06, version 2.1.0*

Good for short periods of time but you only have a timer of up to 30 mins if you don’t buy premium, there are also quite a few adverts but overall a helpful app and the notifications are useful

### 2/5 — One huge issue!

*2018-06-05*

The app is a good idea, but just wasn’t executed correctly. I like the fact that it sends you constant notifications... except even when I’m not on my phone it’s still buzzing + ringing. I thought that once I’d lock my phone and stay off it would stop. I deleted the app due to this. Fix it!!!

### 3/5 — Not satisfied

*2024-08-25, version 2.3.1*

This app says it will lock your phone for a given period and won’t let you exit the app, for maximum productivity. It says you need to close your phone while being on the app and it will work, did that and it didn’t work. It instead spammed my phone with ads about dumb apps like a flashlight app? The only good thing about this app is it spams you with threatening notifications to tell you to enter the app again to continue to work.

### 3/5 — Lacks functionality

*2021-01-29*

I bought the premium, the emergency shut off doesn’t stop the timer it just stops the notifications. If you need to reset your time count for any reason you have to wait until the previous timer is finished. So if you put a timer for an hour and have to stop it for any reason it won’t stop and after the 5 minutes emergency shutoff it’ll start sending notifications non stop lol

**Developer response:** Hello AhsunSK, the emergency off button is designed for just a temporary break in case of an actual emergency. I designed it so that once you turn on the timer you have to commit to being off your phone for the entirety of it. I didn't want people to be able to give in to the temptation of using their phones by just cancelling the session completely.

If you have an idea of how I could implement this feature better I'd love to hear from you at GetOffYourPhoneApp@gmail.com

### 3/5 — Allow stopping a running timer

*2020-04-12*

To the developer:
I really like the idea. Downloaded the app immediately. I know your objective is to help me stay off my phone. However, your objective must also be to keep your app installed on my phone. If I can’t stop a running timer without uninstalling the app, how does that help you?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice

*2025-10-03, version 2.3.1*

Nice

### 5/5 — About the game

*2023-07-30*

This game is super hard but it’s very helpful. My phone always turns off because the game Hass to be on. I really like this game but sometimes it can be bad. I think it should be 12+ or 9+4 year olds will get mad and maybe break their phone for it

### 5/5 — It works - clever idea, well executed

*2023-02-14, version 2.3.1*

This sounds like some kind of self-promotion but it definitely isn’t. I really have tried quite a few different app-blocker apps and quite a few highly rated or promoted ones are no longer working, unavailable on the App Store or very buggy, or they are too easy to work-around.

This app seems to work really well for Apple because it doesn’t actually block your apps or try integrate with Screentime/ downtime, it puts an annoying ad on the front of your screen (yes you do need to keep the app open before locking your phone) and then if you do try use your phone and switch apps it bugs you with notifications - a very effective deterrent.

The bug mentioned in a previous review about not allowing incoming phone calls has been fixed - if someone calls me, even on Teams, it gets through, even if the app is in ‘active’ mode.

I’m on the free version still because I’m not sure how well my will power will withstand having an emergency button available but can definitely see the appeal, and it’s a one-off payment instead of a subscription which is great.

Well done to the developer.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2022-08-05, version 2.3.1*

You get little messages telling you to get off your phone so you don’t get distracted and it does that until you do get off your phone👍👍👍👍

### 5/5 — Really useful

### 5/5 — Great!
