Despite being from London I am often asked if I am from Australia, New Zealand, Canada or South Africa which I cannot understand, especially when I tell people I’m from London they remark I do not sound like a Londoner ### 4/5 — Useful app *2026-01-07, version 2.3.0* It’s a very useful app to improve pronunciation. I like the playback and their examples growing in complexity from words, through simple sentences to poetry. It could be a bit more engaging and interactive but I guess if you want to learn, you’ll put the work in regardless. One thing to note is that it is the user’s job to identify any mistakes, so requires a good ear and some ability to spot them. I’d prefer this done by the app, but it’s probably quite a task for the developers. I like that the exercises are grouped into the languages of origin- this is very helpful and also that there is a feature to hear your own recording and compare to the speaker. I’ve tried a few other apps but this one is the best so far. ### 5/5 — Good quality for value *2025-10-19* I first came across Get Rid of Your Accent by chance in Waterstones in London. It came with two CDs, which was very convenient. However, there was something missing. Over time, I moved out and lost the book and CDs. When I eventually remembered the title, I bought the book again. However, you have replaced the two CDs with an application. I told myself it was to make more money. I was wrong. I must admit, however, that it improved the method. It turns the app into a genuine pronunciation laboratory.
