Using the GFI Notify software and hardware bundle, power outage to any monitored circuit will be detected. Notifications are sent to up to three contacts by email and text within as soon as 6 minutes of the outage. Notifications are also sent when power is restored. GFI circuits are required to be in garages, basements and many other areas of a house. Freezers, refrigerators, sump pumps and heated aquariums can be plugged into those circuits. A GFI is a very sensitive circuit breaker and can trip (lose power) for many reasons, including a close lightning storm. GFI Notify monitors those circuits 24/7/365 for power outages. When you travel or are away from home for any reason, GFI Notify will send crucial notifications within 6 minutes giving you enough time to take remedial action when there is a power outage. GFI Notify can monitor any circuit in your house or business. GFI Notify will also notify you when your entire house loses power. And then I repeated this tight circle at least 3 more times. For some odd reason I was stuck because I was not seeing the IOS app setting option to grant Local Network access. I unplugged the SmatPlug, closed the app on my phone and made a cup of coffee. Two minutes later, I launched the app and began following the instructions again. This time everything worked exactly as written. Of course the slide switch granting Local Network access had magically appeared while my coffee was brewing. Adding the second SmartPlug was even faster because this app copied over my 20-number WiFi password from the first plug. Not all developers are so kind. I especially like that the tripped notifications list the device names instead of forcing you to open the app to figure out what’s wrong. And the ability to schedule Do-Not-Disturb periods is a great option. ### 5/5 — Great and reliable product *2024-05-13* This is a great product. It reliably notifies you whenever your plug loses power. Such a simple service but hard to find any other smart plug that does this! Plus the customer support is fast, effective and really helpful! ### 1/5 — Notifications do not work *2023-01-08* This app fails to notify of outages. Lost an entire freezer of food thinking this thing would alert me and it didnt. I've tested it multiple times now and doesn't work (tried multiple devices). **Developer response:** My apologies in the lateness of my reply. If you are still interested, please reach out to our support department. This company was recently brought under new management and we are committed to rapidly improving both our process and product. Mention this response to your review and we will get you taken care of and replace/refund your product if is defective with no additional cost. Thank you for taking the time to write this review. ### 5/5 — Works perfect so far *2022-08-22* We have a freezer full of breast milk and my wife will murder me if the power goes out and it all goes bad. I bought this set up and tested it and we received both email and text messages within 5 minutes when the plug was disconnected. I'll continue to test it but so far it's exactly what we're looking for.
