AI makes purpose of app inauthentic

I was an original Halfgram user. The app was so much simpler and ACTUALLY allowed for you to share your unfiltered thoughts with a small, caring community. There was no AI, no algorithms, it felt positive and against the grain of what the majority of social media is. The AI won’t event pick up my entries into a “cohesive” piece, because even if it did, it would be filtered and not MY writing. People used to express their feelings through poetry on here, and now it’s not safe for them to do so because it’s just feeding the dystopian AI machine. I left when the app transitioned and I lost all my entries, and saw it was AI based, came back because I really missed it, and am still so disappointed. Please rethink your values for the app if you’re going to require users to filter their writing through AI to post if it’s supposed to be a “raw thoughts” app.

I miss Halfgram

The current version is so confusing and complicated. The community before was simple and touching, but now it feels way to much. I know it is the designer’s idea to add more features, but less is more. The avatar things are quite redundant, so do the AI chat things. You should understand your strength, not chasing the AI trend. If you really want to integrate AI chatbot, it can be a side feature that’s hidden in the menu bar. There are just so many AI products out there and you cannot make urself competitive. But the Halfgram text-based community was the essence.

Disappointed

Was looking for Halfgram and was disappointed/shocked when I found out it turned into Ghoo. Don’t understand the need for the AI when it was fine as is, and really the brand change was jarring. Like halfgram felt like it had personality but this feels more cold and corporate

This used to be another app

I liked the concept of Halfgram; having a community to write with and share my thoughts with better than what this app is now. The ai portion just doesn’t feel right to me. I don’t know who tho this was a better idea, but it just feels kinda wrong. To anyone downloading this, please note that any reviews before may 8 are not for Ghoo, but for the amazing app this once was. I feel like this was definitely a step down and I wouldn’t be lying if I said I was disappointed.

Intellectual & Engaging

In just the first few minutes of using this app, I’ve found I have similar experiences and thoughts to other users. Perhaps it’s easier to identify shared interests when they are in written format rather than distracting images or flashy videos. This is a great way to connect on an intellectual level with people. I’m looking forward to using this app more in the future! 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for a more relaxing and intellectually stimulating way to connect with others.
