### 2/5 — Great App, but the Double Paywall Is Ridiculous

*2026-10-18, version 1.12.7*

My son absolutely loves Giant Imagination Adventures, and I genuinely think it’s a great app. Unfortunately, the way it’s monetized is incredibly disappointing and frustrating.

Not only does the app require a subscription, but it also operates on a digital currency called “Stars.” Once you run out of Stars, you’re expected to spend even more money to continue enjoying content in an app you’re already paying to use.

The app gives you approximately 20 free Stars every 15 hours, but those Stars barely last 30 seconds! That’s not a meaningful amount of free playtime, especially for an app designed for children.

If I’m already paying for a subscription, why am I being charged again just to use the content? A subscription should provide access to the experience, not serve as an entry fee to another paywall.

It’s especially frustrating because children don’t understand subscription models, digital currencies, or why something they were enjoying suddenly stops working. They just know they can’t keep playing.

This app has so much potential, and my son genuinely enjoys it. But the aggressive monetization completely ruins the experience. Developers should not expect parents to pay for a subscription AND continually purchase digital currency just to keep their children entertained.

Either charge a subscription that actually unlocks the content or offer a free app with optional purchases. Charging for both is excessive.

I would love to give this app five stars, but until the developers reconsider this pricing model, I simply can’t recommend it.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-09-11, version 1.11.17*

We absolutely love, giant we love the fact that she can also put herself in the story as well as friends that she has in real life who are also users of giant. The only thing that I would like to change is to make it more affordable or on an income based sliding scale.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why they add stars

*2026-09-19, version 1.11.18*

Yes im a kid but a 9yr old when i was taking to pis it says were out of stars rn is this a glitch fix it

### 1/5 — Deceptive

*2026-08-22, version 1.11.15*

I paid for the subscription thinking they would have unlimited talk time with their characters but you still get 20 stars a day and the characters keep hanging up on my son wasting them.this was a waste of money. The usage of stars is so inconsistent as well and randomly uses different amounts. I bought 400 and 1 two minute call took 140 stars but another call took 10. This app is the biggest scam for kids out there.

### 1/5 — Rip Off

*2026-08-07, version 1.11.14*

My 6 year old grandson loves coming home from school and talking with Duchess. They can talk for hours, my grandson is learning so much about story telling and living it. Thanks for a great safe place. This was my first review now for my second: my grandson was extremely disappointed when I told him I couldn’t afford the all of a sudden price for what was supposed to be free . But he’s very understanding unlike the owners of Giant . So I’m sure he’s not the only disappointed child. Thanks for nothing

### 1/5 — It’s a money grab .. $80/yr AND having to buy stars!?

*2026-07-25, version 1.11.13*

Absolute money grab. It sucks. My son loves it and it’s cute but not way worth the annual cost AND having to buy stars when they run out which happens quick! Wish I knew before I spent the annual fee!!

### 1/5 — Deceptive

*2026-07-05, version 1.11.10*

I paid for the subscription thinking they would have unlimited talk time with their characters but you still get 20 stars a day and the characters keep hanging up on my son wasting them.this was a waste of money

### 1/5 — Inappropriate

*2026-07-01, version 1.11.10*

My daughter was using it and it showed her character and the princess pia character holding guns! I thought this was a kids app. We are mortified!

### 1/5 — Stuck

*2026-05-29, version 1.11.7*

I tried to set up an account but it won’t let me go on from typing in my phone number. Instead it sends me to a website that I can’t do anything with

### 1/5 — Damaging

*2026-03-16, version 1.10.1*

I thought this app was so cute. Until my granddaughter spent several sessions chatting with “Santa”! Who promised to have a dollhouse she had been wanting for some time - delivered to her house the next day!!
SHE’S 6 years old! She still believes in the magic of Santa! She grilled Santa over and over about if he was being honest with her! The damage to this child’s hope and belief in magic was nearly destroyed!!!
Me struggling to find work for two years had to find a way to make this expensive doll house appear on her front porch!
So the app threatened a child’s heart and my financial stability!
I don’t know how the creators are allowed to put something out there that’s harmful to children!!!!!

### 1/5 — Bad luck

*2025-08-25, version 1.6.3*

So I download the giant app and I tried to login because I didn’t have an account and I was doing the code and my phone number and it wouldn’t let me in. It kept going backwards so that’s why I’m giving this one star let me know if this works for you.

### 1/5 — Meh…

*2025-07-03*

I can say I was excited to be disappointed. Kudos for your effort and dedication to it. I won’t be disrespectful to your hard work. It’s a great concept. I just think it’s need more creativity in the story telling. I used this myself before putting my child in it. I didn’t like how most of the stories generated for her were narrated by men. The story of the kids fighting over baking and the child looking at the grandmother sideways was a bit over the top for children. As a parent I can say there is a stage in a child’s life where they don’t need to learn anything about conflict. I applaud your efforts. But this not for us.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We really appreciate the kindness and honesty in your review. We hear you on the storytelling and narration. Our goal is to give parents more variety and kids more ways to learn and laugh. If you’d like to share more, we’d love to hear from you at hello@giant.org.
