## What is Gibberfish?

Gibberfish — Learn Languages Through Immersion

Most language apps teach you words in isolation. Gibberfish puts them in context — where they actually stick.

Read a story. Watch a YouTube video. Import an article you actually care about. Tap any word you don't recognize to see its translation instantly. Save it, and Gibberfish brings it back at the right moment using spaced repetition — so you review words just before you'd forget them.

It's the same simple loop everywhere: encounter a word in something real, tap it, keep it.

Read
Short stories generated around your own vocabulary, at your level (A1–C2). Tap any word for an instant translation. Finish a story and save its audio to listen back later.

Watch
Paste any YouTube link and watch with your target language's subtitles live in the app. Miss something? Hit translate-back — the video freezes, you hear the last few seconds explained in your native language, then it replays them in the original. Tap any word in the subtitles to save it straight to your collection.

Import
Bring in articles from the web by pasting a link, or drop in your own text. Read anything you want with tap-to-translate on every word.

Practice
Output Practice turns recognition into real production — write a journal entry using the words you've learned and get it corrected line by line.

Review
Smart spaced repetition schedules every saved word automatically. Track streaks, watch your words move from "learning" to "mastered," and grow your aquarium as you go.

Also included:

12 languages, including Egyptian Arabic, Lebanese Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean
A Blobfish tutor for any language question, any time
Anki deck import — bring your existing decks with you
Progress tracking and achievements
Learning a language doesn't have to mean grinding through flashcard decks. Gibberfish turns the things you'd already read and watch into the lesson.

Start reading. Start watching. Start learning.

### 5/5 — Impressed

*2026-07-01*

I’ve now been using the app daily for over a month. I’m truly amazed at how my vocabulary is growing. It took me a bit to figure out how to optimize on the apps features. Like the live tutor- and even the importance of rating each word to be sure it stays in my practice deck. I’m rolling now and seeing myself grow! Can’t wait to see where I am in 6 months

### 5/5 — Great way to learn

*2026-05-22*

Learning by using stories is a game changer. I like the growing of the aquarium as I add vocabulary. It’s helping me not just learn word for for but to actually learn how to have conversation in Spanish
