### 1/5 — worst ever

*2024-08-21*

cars were always filthy and requiring maintenance. sometimes the lot was jammed full & could not access reserved vehicle. they tell you that metered parking in SF, CA is free or already paid. not true. also, if you get a parking ticket, they send you a bill for it with a hefty fee tacked on. THEN they bill you a fine of $175 on top of that for “unauthorized parking.” apparently it is very easy for thieves to break into and steal these cars. one of my rentals was stolen from in front of my building. i tracked it down parked behind a locked gate several blocks away, and immediately reported the theft. what did they do? put my account on hold while they “investigated.” i gave up trying to rent from them after a few weeks of this. next thing i notice they’re trying to bill me another $350 for “unauthorized driver.” and “unauthorized parking.” that would be whoever stole the car and parked it in a locked parking lot. unbelievable. fortunately i had the foresight to block charges to my card from these racketeers. good luck getting another dime outta me, PIG, RIG, JIG, WIG or whatever your fictitious name is.

### 1/5 — If I could leave -5 stars I would!!!

*2024-01-21*

What happened was the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and your team should be ashamed your “help bot” is worse than Siri in Beta mode. Your bot says 2 things: Here’s an article! And “can you rephrase your question?”
I live in LA, which your team knew when I entered my addess during signup. But of course that didn’t stop you from pulling $40 from my account and giving me a credit for a service I can’t even use. And then I get the runaround from Siri’s less intelligent nephew bot. I gotta hand it to you…. It’s a great way to make quick cash when you’re still growing. But until I get my $$$ back and compensation for my time, this review will stay posted. If I can get one customer to run the other way, I’ve done my job. But we all know this review will lose way more customers than that. Make it right! Thank you. -Timothy Dove

### 1/5 — Complete scam, benefit on fraudulent charges

*2024-01-01*

I received a $1000 charge from gig accusing me to cause “scratches” to the car 10 days after a 10min trip. I have been using gig quite a bit lately so I didn’t remember to take videos of the car every time. But I’m sure that I didn’t get into any collision. I parked the car and ended the trip late at night and they said the person rented the car the NEXT MORNING reported scratches. 1) how can they prove that the damage is made by me but not anyone overnight, or worse, the second renter? So basically I’m not only responsible for the car’s condition during the 10min I’m using it but also until the next renter starter another trip???
2) what sort of scratches would cost $1000 dollars to repair?? I asked for photo proofs but they cannot offer those either, so it seems they just randomly charges customers of thousands of dollars and profit from them?

### 2/5 — App crashes every time I try to end the rental

*2023-12-04*

Every time I try to end the rental be it the “pay as you go” or “pay for the day” the app has trouble with ending my rental. I would have an email confirming my rental has ended but the app will still count my time with the car and stay on the screen with the now “no longer needed” rental. I have contacted customer support before but their advice is to just delete the app and reinstall it. Which is a bit like have you tried turning it off and turning it back on.

Additionally, their cars are not as well serviced as advertised. Admittedly you would hope also that people renting the car would have the common decency to clean after themselves or at least air out the car.

### 1/5 — A great company that has become greedy with the amount they charge.

*2023-10-16*

I’ve been using Gig car for 2 years now in Seattle. It clearly beat out its competitors with the convenience of being able to pick them up from anywhere across the city and drop them off anywhere within the blue zone. The prices for both short term and long term drives were incredibly well priced and an easy choice over any other rental companies, especially with the inclusion of gas, and insurance.

Recently however, their prices and fees have fallen dramatically behind their competitors. They no longer offer the ability to book a multi day trip for a flat fee which means instead of looking at gig cars my friends and I have booked cars through Zip car and Turo instead.
An 8 hour flat fee through gig car is about $107 with fees and zip car is $79 total.

My reason for writing this review is because of my most recent experience with them. I took a $17 ride from a friends house late at night. I parked infront of my apartment and was a foot too close to a fire hydrant. That $17 ride became a $361 one because I was charged $201 for a technician to come out and get the car and $146 for parking in an unauthorized place. I know I’m in the wrong. But it’s upsetting to be charged massive amounts that I can’t afford for a ticket that in Seattle would only cost $38. I will no longer be using this service and have advised all of the people I initially recommended it to to switch to their competitors.

### 2/5 — So crazy expensive.

*2023-09-24*

I’ve been carless in Seattle since 2007. I’ve tried everything from flex car, zip car, car2go, the bmw one….I’ve literally tried them all. Today I needed to do about an hour trip to run some errands so I figured I’d use gig for the first time. I drove for and hour and 20 minutes including parking and my charge was almost $45. This is the most expensive hour trip I’ve taken with one of these services. Call it inflation, I call it a rip off. Not sure how they charge for day/8 hour fees, but I’m unlikely to use the service again at this point.

As far as the actual service—the car was easy to unlock and lock, it was pretty zippy, and the app was easy to navigate. But all that doesn’t negate my feelings re: the cost.

### 2/5 — app is virtually unusable

*2023-08-12*

I like the gig service itself within cell service, and use it quite often.

If I do not review a car before leaving the app, the next time I enter, I’m forced to restart the app several times before it gets past the loading screen. an opaque white screen with a loading bar also sometimes hangs over while i have a car reserved, which does not prevent me from renting, but is annoying. The map seems like it’s trying to load too much data at once, and could instead load more than a 15 min walking radius if the user tries to pan out, due to its slowness at the beginning. I’m not sure if I would keep this app/keep using gig if the service itself wasn’t so convenient.

### 5/5 — A huge headache, not worth the trouble.

*2023-06-29*

The experience was unfortunately quite poor. After attempting to get into the first car, I was told because I’d canceled it recently, I could not rent it for the next two hours. I had no idea about this restriction as I hadn’t intended to start the reservation previously, just check the prices. This was the only car within well over a mile, requiring me to spend valuable time and money securing a means of transit to the next closest car, which had only 8% fuel left, nowhere near enough for my trip. When attempting to refuel the car, the fuel card included (which was bent and barely scanned) asked me for a driver ID, which was nowhere to be found on the app or emails when I signed up, including on the FAQ section about filling up. This means I had to use my own card to pay for the fuel, essentially extending credit to Gig. Further, upon arriving at my destination well over an hour late due to these difficulties, I found myself with no cell signal, and with gig showing me a “no bluetooth” icon over the car, leading me to believe I would not be able to unlock it if I existed the car. What should’ve been an enjoyable trip down the coast turned into an huge headache because of these issues with the service.

### 2/5 — Service 👍🏽 • Support 👎🏽

*2023-05-09*

It’s a great service. Cars are pretty competitive pricing-wise and the cars themselves are fun to drive.

Support infrastructure-wise, it’s the Wild, Wild West out here. If you forget your belongings in your car, and the next user takes it - and they know exactly who it was, they won’t do anything about it because it’s “discriminatory.” Yes, this really happened to me. Someone rented a car sandwiched between two of my rentals. They smoked in the car, got mud all over the interior, left their trash, and took my backpack - which contained a pair of earphones from my gf for Xmas. The backpack was a gift from my best friend 😂. And yeah, the support I got was “We’ll keep an eye out and leave a voicemail to the person who used the car after you, but we can’t take any other actions. Even though it’s highly likely that it’s them.” Pretty sad.

Also, the app glitches a lot. If you parked somewhere kinda sketchy, make sure you force close the app and open it again at a safe place and have it ready to unlock the car. Otherwise you might be fumbling to get the car unlocked while you’re in an unsafe location.

### 5/5 — Gig CARES Share!!!

*2023-04-29*

Y’all need to change your name to GIG CARES, cuz ya really do care and I want to give back for the kind support that is so huge I can’t find the words to share there is no company that would ever CARE so let’s start a campaign from me in media career of 30 years, GiG Care Share Campaign…my idea to be on the road with y’all to highlight Lorena and other Rock Stars which are all on this team!!! I was trapped as I didn’t reserve my home return gig before another and yall really cared!! I had 50lbs of rented high end camera lights and other equipment and I tried to reimburse for the Lyft and you comes me. I have told everyone in your cities how special this company is, and I am beyond grateful, I had cash but my huge deposit on my camera equipment rental froze my card except for minimum and you can’t find any other company this understanding so do remember Gig Cares to Share.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the support! We definitely do care about all our Members. If there is anything we can do to further improve the Gig experience, please feel free to reach out to us at membersupport@gigcarshare.com with your suggestions. Have a great day!
