I WOULD contact the developer but support website is not loading. Issues: Can’t use Date & Time attribute in a Feature Class if you have more than a few attributes (after scrolling down past the Date & Time it’ll suddenly ask for the Date & Time again then auto-close the app no matter if you choose to cancel or save). Cuts off one letter’s width of the Description attribute text box on the LHS when entering so you can’t see what you’ve typed properly (appears normal after saving). Date & Time is an essential attributes for the data I collect - had to use a Number attribute to manually enter what I needed which is very annoying and prone to error. ### 3/5 — Not sure *2020-09-01* I really like it when it works but lately the app crashes almost every time i try to add a layer. It used to work great. The support button does not give you anything. And the website for the app does not respond either. This app seems to be going down hill fast! ### 2/5 — Good App - No Support *2018-10-21, version 3.21* I have had this app 5 years and loved it. There has only been one update I can remember and it messed everything up. Wish it had a function to delete last upgrade. Emails to support never get answered. ### 3/5 — GIS Pro leaves you hanging *2015-08-21, version 3.18* This app works as advertised but for one annoying glitch - it constantly reverts to the background while being used and the iPad goes back to the homescreen. When it does so, it loses the area you are zoomed into, loses edits you might be making, and turns off the GPS if you were using it. Takes 10 seconds or so to get back into the app and get back to what you were doing - not a long time but it happens every few minutes so overall very annoying. I wouldn't recommend this app until they have fixed this problem, which they so far have not been able to do for my iPad Air. ### 1/5 — Constantly crashes *2015-05-30* Paying $300 for an app that doesn't run more than a few minutes without crashing is unacceptable. This needs to be fixed ASAP. ### 1/5 — GIS Pro *2015-02-21, version 3.14* This app was incredible until the IOS8 update. I used it to GPS numerous tracks and it worked flawlessly with the Google Earth or Bing cached in the background. After IOS8 it has become useless due to constant glitches. I have given it a couple months now for support to work their magic and it still does not work correctly - often kicking me out of the program every five minutes or so. It appears that the most expensive app I ever purchased is also unfortunately the most useless. :( Update: Feb.20/15 This app still does not work. Issues with drawing poly lines when using external GPS; draws points from GPS but won't do poly lines. Have emailed developer numerous times with no replies so far ### 3/5 — New user *2012-11-21* I'm a new user of this app and think its a really good start. It has great import/export and drawing capabilities and a easy to use design. What it really needs though is direction and distance readings when drawing lines and polygons. Also, the measuring tool should also provide direction. This is hugely important for drawing property boundaries. Without this capability, it is dependent on data sets created in more powerful GIS software. With it, this could be an amazing tool well worth the price. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Location Not Working *2025-06-09, version 3.31* I bought a new iPad. This App no longer has the function of location on map when working without wifi. Makes it useless in the field in a lot of ways. ### 1/5 — R.I.P. my love *2024-06-23* This was the best field mapping app ever. Once it stopped being supported 3-4 years ago(?) the interface became increasingly buggy. Then the latest apple iPad update broke it completely. Not ideal for something that cost $300 but, more importantly, it was truly the best option by a long shot. Developers, if you read this, please bring our beloved application back online. We miss it so. ### 1/5 — Vapourware stay away *2023-02-09, version 3.31* This company creates very expensive software that has ok functionality, but becomes buggy and no updates. Instead of updating, they create another very expensive piece of software and repeat. They do spend a bit on marketing so that is likely why the price incredibly high for what you get and the absolute lack of support. There are much better GIS software out there for iOS. ### 1/5 — App has become unusable *2019-10-29, version 3.30* iPhone 11 pro max, cannot open or close sidebar without an enormous amount of difficulty. ### 1/5 — GIS Pro *2018-08-25* I attempted to use this application after paying a HIGH dollar amount for it. Not only will it not separate lines of text overlaid onto .kmz files , you cannot change the settings to allow it to expand to create enough room on the screen to read the “ jumbled” together text. Two emails with ZERO response FROM THE DEVELOPERS ,tells me all I need to know about the authors of this junk. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS APP!!!! ### 1/5 — Expensive for the support *2018-07-13, version 3.21* No updates in over 11 months and how many updates to iOS since that time. Totally unprofessional to offer software at such an expensive price with so little time devoted to updates. I buy apps for dollars that have better support and updates. This software crashes multiple times per day. Almost impossible here. $399 and this is not seamless?? I wish I could get my money back. I have also enabled data to be shared with app developers and I have not found any assistance with the issue. I am not happy with this app. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Outstanding *2018-07-16* I have been using the app, if I remember correctly, from 2012. Initially, when I purchase the app, I needed something to develop routs, offline imagery capability and export final product to KML ability. This app has performed flawlessly, beyond expectations, from day one and every day of using it. In my opinion, the tool like this is well worth the money that the developer is asking. This is the app you want when data matters most and you are tired of being tied to someone else's server to get at your data. Don't be a slave, buy this app. You'll be glad. ### 5/5 — Well Worth the Cost *2013-08-16, version 2.2.3* Overall, I have to say I am very happy with this app. I was looking for a way to collect GIS information on my Apple based products (iPhone iPad), but remain within the ESRI .shp file environment. This app suited my needs perfectly. Things that I love: - Ability to quickly and easily import and export .shp files (very slick) - Ability to create and share "feature classes". ArcPad and Terrasync have similar abilities, however they are clunky compaired to this. - Costs a fraction of what ArcPad and Terrasync cost. - Runs on iOS based devices. Checkmate. ArcPad and Terrasync run on windows mobile, which is esentially a dead operating system (as far as I know). ### 5/5 — Geologist *2013-03-04* I can't tell you how many times this app has come in handy in the field. I use it quite often to mark either existing or proposed sample locations and then email them in a KMZ file to the PMs. It is also nice that when sample locations are revised while a project is underway PMs can send out a new KMZ to be imported while in the field. This allows for nearly real time decision making. Being able to append photos to the sample locations adds another dimension to data collection. ### 5/5 — My life just got a lot easier *2012-11-27* Still new to the app, but have tested out many features and so far it has met, and often exceeding my expectations. Planning to be used for field data collection on fixed wing, helicopter, and ground missions. I work in an environment where a good GIS program and mobile on-site capability is imperative to our safety. I found a glitch in the program and emailed the creators who responded promptly and had an update out within a couple of weeks. Great program and great support! ### 5/5 — Excellent *2012-03-13, version 1.9* Excellent tech support, functions as advertised ### 5/5 — Geotechnical Engineer *2012-02-29* This is an incredibly useful tool for mapping, navigating and collecting data in the field. We used this program to map erosion and landslide hazards along a 600 mile utility alignment in remote parts of the United States. We were able to upload the utility alignment before our trip and cache the satellite images for several miles on either side of the alignment, so that we could still navigate and zoom in on features in the field. The points that are part of the program are very applicable and useful, but also adding points to feature classes when needed is very simple and fast. We were able to walk the perimeter of landslides using the polygon feature and then collect information such as scarp dimensions, slope inclination, direction of movement, etc. All the collected information is then saved together for that point. It is also convenient to be able to take photographs in the same location that you collect data. The quality of the photos turned out well. Once we were back in the office, we downloaded the data directly to Google Earth. We were then able to email kmz files to the client with our data. This saved hours of GIS time in the office. The Otterbox cover is durable and protected the iPad during use.
