### 3/5 — Dead :-| Unclear IAP

*2024-03-29*

This could be the perfect go-to app for all folks realizing a Git based PARA/Zettelkasten-like information organization.

Alas! The latest change in the roadmap dates Nov '22, there are various bugs (i.e. history not loading, arbitrary sync issues demanding full resets etc).

The IAP seems illogical to us: you either need to pay 12 months in advance OR pay the monthly fee until the full payment is done so you get the benefit. Not sure if this doesn't violates Apple's IAP policies.

We just use the app as a mobile read-only store of a Foam repo, but in general, the app has much bigger potential.

### 4/5 — Really nice app

*2021-08-02*

Lightweight, nimble app that grants me access to my notes while I’m on the move without access to my laptop.

I use branches and pull requests to manage changes to notes, so the ability to pull changes from one branch and push changes to a branch other than master where I can clean them up before merging would be awesome. I’d go Pro and give a fifth star for that 🙏

### 3/5 — Good peace of Software - issue with restore purchases

*2021-04-04*

It’s a good penance of software, it’s quite useful. The “restore purchases” seams not to work as expected - it doesn’t come to an end and it’s doesn’t restore a purchase. Purchasing a second time will result in a second purchsed within the same applied!

### 5/5 — First desktop and family synced TODO list

*2020-06-11*

Finally, TODOs I’m adding in vim on dev. server synced with my phone and my wife can add items to shopping list while I’m driving hone from work.
Also, support reaction time is awesome, I got reply with workaround in 3 minutes after submitting bug report.

### 5/5 — One of a Kind

*2020-04-05*

I have been looking for a git-based not-taking app for iOS for a long time. So glad this is finally here. GitJournal does a great job making the commit/push/pull process a seamless “sync” like other note apps.

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it.

Please feel free to contact me if you encounter any issues or have any feature requests :)

### 5/5 — Good:)

*2019-11-21*

Lovely app haha

**Developer response:** Thanks. Let us know if we can improve it in any way!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — unusable

*2025-08-03*

it crashes 9/10 times and it will delete random selections of a file. i actually don’t think i’ve used a worse piece of software. terrible because they’re really is no alternative.

### 1/5 — Ерунда багованая

*2025-05-05*

Жалко денег

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2022-12-14*

I can write a note, then can’t escape from the editor and it doesn’t save anything. The ‘raw editor’ is just a blank page that does nothing. I resent having paid for this.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2022-05-15*

Pros:
- Love the idea.
Cons:
- Have to pay in-app to unlock all features
- Buggy basic functionality (eg. Notes titles)

### 1/5 — In app purchase busted on restore purchase.

*2021-09-30*

I paid for the app. I paid for the in-app purchase for the pro version. Now when I reinstall the app it doesn’t restore my purchase! This needs to be fixed because that in-app purchase was $35!

### 1/5 — Slow loading notes

*2021-04-01*

The app is slow to load links to other notes. It hangs in the middle of the sliding animation while waiting for the next one.

### 1/5 — Already paid for the app but they want more money for “pro”

*2021-02-12*

Not buying

### 1/5 — Good idea but it crashes constantly

*2019-11-10*

I am not able to write a single entry. Also, it does not appear to support all git URLs, so, for instance, if you want to sync with a git server non a non-standard SSH port, you can't.

**Developer response:** Hi. We have released a new version which should hopefully fix the crashes. Additionally there is no information on how to use it with a non standard SSH port over here - https://gitjournal.io/support/

We're an open source app and maintain a list of open issues over here - https://github.com/GitJournal/GitJournal/issues - Please feel free to vote on existing issues or open new ones. Feature requests are most welcome. Cheers.

### 2/5 — You pay for the app and it’s still not free

*2022-07-05*

First I have to pay $2.99 for the app, then I still have to pay for features. Worse, you are limited to only one git repository with the „free“ version that you had to pay for.

App isn’t impressive. If I change a file it’s unclear how to see the git diff or see the git log for a file or everything. Can’t make sure I only commit before reviewing the changes.

It’s also has some bugs like when flipping to iCloud as storage. It flips back and the files are no longer visible and git is no longer configured.

### 2/5 — GitHub client for $50

*2021-11-07*

6.20 CDN$ just to see the most basic app and $44 minimum for ‘Pro’ with 12 months of updates. They will ‘generously’ let you pay more.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Use it daily

*2024-05-20*

I use it everyday. For the most part, it’s simple and it works. Just like git.

### 5/5 — Finally! Exactly what I have been looking for!

*2022-08-20*

I have been waiting for an app storing markdown notes in git for years. Thank you so much! Finally, I have found the last piece to my note taking workflow (vimwiki with markdown syntax + git) and now my notes are also available on my mobile.

### 5/5 — App I’ve always dreamt of making

*2022-05-16*

Yeah thanks dude… thanks for stealing my dream! On the other hand, awesome app! I don’t think I could have implemented it any better myself! Thanks for fixing the RSA issue and sorry for the initial bad review. This dev cares about the users!!

**Developer response:** Hey. Could you please try again, I released a new version last week with a fix.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2021-04-26*

Thank you! This is what I was looking for!

### 5/5 — A+

*2021-04-02*

My second purchase in the App store and would say it worth the money. Thank you!

### 5/5 — My bug report was instantly fixed

*2021-03-03*

All good so far. Recommended:)

**Developer response:** Hey Joschi. Could you please let me know what the problem is? Ideally if you could use the Report a Bug button it would be even better.

### 5/5 — Perfect Fit!

*2021-02-16*

Love the product and exactly what I was looking for!!!!!

### 5/5 — Treasure

*2021-02-13*

I have some troubles with init git repo.
1. Error if existing repo does not have “master” branch
2. Infinity cloning with GitHub. GitLab works ok ( create issue on project’s GitHub )

I resolved it, but I hope devs will fix those bugs

**Developer response:** Hey Treasure.

Sorry for the problems. I've released version `1.74.1` which should fix both the problems. Please let me know if you're still having problems (Ideally through the report a bug button)

### 5/5 — Clean, Fast, Stable

*2020-11-25*

The perfect smart device companion for anyone who keeps their notes in a git repo. If you don’t always have access to your computer when you need to create or review your text notes, this app handles those situations flawlessly.

This launches faster than most syncing note editors, and the interface is intuitive and clean. After testing editing on multiple devices with a git repo on a personal server in an attempt to stress test it, all interactions were reflected correctly in the git history. I could not be more pleased with this app!

### 5/5 — Coool!!!

*2020-11-06*

Отличный мобильный компаньён для obsidian.md 👍

PS: Please add obsidian like image links support
