### 4/5 — Broken

*2025-11-12*

I had the app for a while and I loved it but I accidentally left my group chat and I sent a message to the support line. When they said they added me back it broke the app and said something was wrong with the string type. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it and it was still broken.

**Developer response:** Hey there, this sounds frustrating -- we have issued fixes since you reported this problem that we believe have solved it completely. If you are still experiencing issues, please reach out at info@giveusthefloor.org. We don't want you to be left without support!

### 4/5 — Needs fixing

*2025-10-24*

I really like this app and have already started to make new friends! It’s really good and has good spaces for venting. However, I do think it could use some change. For one, it won’t let people reply to each other, nor will it let us see if someone is typing. Which caused problems for me immediately right off the bat when talking to new people. The app is structured strangely and is kinda dark, it feels sorta overwhelming and not very positive by appearance.

### 4/5 — Very cool and good!

*2024-06-12*

I’ve been in three groups so far(the first two dissolved, I think the main person who moderated the chat left) and they’ve all been really friendly! It’s all really supportive and hype.

### 4/5 — Great source

*2023-04-11*

This app has helped me and many of my friends have an anonymous safe space. They do an amazing job of keeping all teens safe and distracted from sharing any kind of personal info which was a big concern for me at first!

### 5/5 — Amazing App

*2022-11-11*

This is a really great place for teenagers to share what they are going through, and get support from others. I have been using this app for a while, and it has helped me so much. Everyone is so supportive and kind. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is having a touch time.

### 5/5 — 100% recommended

*2022-11-11, version 1.2*

This app is one of the best things I have found

### 5/5 — Izumi

*2022-11-11, version 1.2*

This is a really great app. I had been struggling with love and support in my life and once I joined give us the floor it took about a week or more to get out into a group and that helped with a lot of things I had been struggling with. It helped to just talk to someone about it. You get put into a group with people from all over the world. It’s an amazing app especially if you are struggling with things in life because everyone on this app is so supportive.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2022-11-11, version 1.2*

Highly recommend, great app, great people. I love the support I’m receiving and it’s a great community to be a part of!

### 2/5 — I’m so sad

*2022-10-27, version 1.1.1*

At first, my group ignored me, so I changed groups and I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE APP. I loved the people in the group. They were funny, friendly and the admin had the same name as me! But that joy only lasted a few days, because just today, I tried to open the app and I had to log back in which was weird but easy. Once i did, all I got was a blank blue screen and it hasn’t budged ever since.According to a bit of research, I didn’t break any rules, and I didn’t get a text message saying I got kicked, so I’m assuming the app is bugging out. I really liked the app, but it clearly has several bugs and a laggy server. Please fix it, I wanna get back to my group 😭😭😭

### 3/5 — Code error

*2022-06-08, version 1.0.3*

I put my phone number in and hit sent. But I didn’t get a code. I’ve already retried 3 times

### 5/5 — 5 Stars All Around

*2022-03-04*

Easy to use, beautiful color schemes and designs, it’s perfect! A supportive place where people can reach out for help :-)

### 5/5 — Highly Recommend

*2022-03-02*

This app is an incredible way for youth to express thoughts, emotions, questions, or even just a way to communicate in a non judgmental environment. With youth running the group chats and adult supervisors there for assistance when needed. It gives the youth and opportunity to share and learn from each other in a safe environment! It also provides a way for individuals to earn service hours by becoming a chat facilitator. I would highly recommend referring this app to someone who would benefit from it along with trying it out yourself!

### 1/5 — Shipping broken

*2026-04-01, version 2.2.46*

Shipping broken. Can’t sign up. Please test your app before you ship it to the public and stop vibe coding slop.

### 1/5 — Do not recommend

*2024-05-08, version 1.4.2*

Bad app

### 1/5 — unprofessional and has stupid rules.

*2024-04-30*

i asked the staff if the facilitators were adults and why they were monitoring group chats of teens on an app made to discuss our private issues and they responded very passive aggressively saying “again, its to protect you” not even answering my question and not even specifying how it “protects” you.

theres a very stupid rule about not being able to talk to group members one on one, but what if someone trusts one person over others and wants to talk to that person rather than pour their heart out to 20 people.
i got removed from my group for being “disrespectful” to my facilitator, when i was only standing up for myself and other members as they were being disrespectful towards us.
the staff member said we can’t one on one chat with one another because they cant monitor our texts, first of all, our conversations are our business, second of all, if you want to monitor our stuff, make a one on one chat feature IN THE APP.

### 1/5 — Options of Logging In

*2024-03-02*

I don’t have a phone number and I find it really hard to sign in without one, I would like if you guys had an option for email so we could log in another way

I was really excited to try this app but I guess I’ll have to wait until or if it’s ever added.

**Developer response:** Hey @theodore_5678 We're sorry about this and we hope we're able to find a more accessible solution for folks like yourself in the future.

We require a phone number for a couple big reasons:
- Safety for all users is really important, and one of the best ways to keep the community safe from trolls, bots, and other "bad actors" is by verifying that each participant is a real human based in the US (or US territories -- we also serve folks in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, etc). If a better way to do this safety verification via email becomes available to us in the future, we will totally make it happen, but until then, we know this is the best way to protect our community.
- If a participant ever shares that they are in danger or in a crisis, our Community Care team needs to have contact info on-hand to make sure we can reach out to the individual to help them get the support they need.

If you want to chat more about this though, please do reach out at info@giveusthefloor.org. We may have some resources we can share, even if Give Us The Floor isn't the right one for you at this moment.

### 1/5 — Doesn't even work, won't let me sign up

*2022-06-03, version 1.0.3*

Very annoying

### 1/5 — Its really bad not made well

*2021-12-25*

So I downloaded this app to possibly make new friends and join groups. And while i did end up in a group you are only allowed to be in just that one they assigned you. The people in my group were rude and hateful and it was obvious it was just not a good fit. It made me sad because i had waited almost a month for them to assign me to this room when they said it should take no more than 10 days. And when I contacted support about being assigned a new group they basically said i was stuck with the one i had. Then i tried to report someone who was extremely mean to me when i was put in the room and then they continued to insult me and they were racist and homophobic against me even though this app is supposed to be lgbtqia+ friendly. Support did nothing about this and said it was my fault fir angering the other person when i had done nothing but introduced my self and told them my sexuality and pronouns. So basically if your lgbt and are thinking of getting this app dont waste your time its really set up bad and does not have a good system to group people.

**Developer response:** Hi there, we’re so sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience! We do ask our participants to stay in their groups for at least seven days (unless there is a serious issue) to give the group a chance to bond before we regroup a new member, but we definitely regroup folks upon request! GUTF does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any kind of bullying behavior in our group chats, and we keep records of all communication between our staff and our members. We were unable to locate any records indicating the conversation you reported in your review, but we would certainly love to hear more specifics about what transpired so that we can address it. If you change your mind and would like to try another group, or to tell us more about your experience, we encourage you to send us an email at info@giveusthefloor.org.

### 1/5 — No!

*2021-10-10*

Honestly I’m not really picky with my apps. This app was just not it. I’m trying to talk to people and make people feel better and you know. Every once in a while you might meet somebody to help you out and cheer you up. This app says it’s for talking to people and groups and doing this and doing that and I also says 12 and up. Now I’m Not 20 or anything like that but they are liers I know so my words might not be spelled correctly for me to be talking all that I am. So start with the first issue. Now these issues are not gonna come in the exact order then I found them in but yeah. So basically one thing that I noticed is that there’s only a one review on it which instantly makes me think since I have five stars angry a little short and not very detailed review just that the app was excellent makes me think there’s someone who made this app or whatever the case may be just gave a good reviews of Apple stand out and say five stars. When I was trying to log into the app because it seem like since at five stars it looked really good it looked like a state of the art app. What is the app downloads I decide to get all of my information put in the app and do what I have to do. I’m not gonna make this too long, but basically what had happened was when I was logging in it kept basically saying that something was not right on everything was right and fully checked or it was just saying error occur or something like that and which I can understand but I have tried it multiple times and it has not worked have you been trying to sign in because sometimes my family will take my email or my number on stuff. This app just does not deserve the clout that they are trying to make it it is useless and doesn’t do anything. Let’s say I’m a teenager that’s trying to kill myself and this to get up is getting in the way of basically not doing that. I just don’t understand why people upload apps like this!!!

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for giving us this feedback. We’d like to respond to a couple of the issues you raised in your review. First and most importantly, Give Us The Floor is not a crisis or suicide hotline, and is definitely not a substitute for therapy. Our supportive group chats are a place where teens can share their day-to-day struggles, accomplishments, and provide and receive peer-to-peer support. We do have systems in place to prevent individuals who are not in our eligible age parameters (13-19 years) from signing up, and we have made reporting very easy if something doesn’t feel right in a group for any of our members. If anyone who is attempting to sign up (and eligible to do so) is ever experiencing issues with the signup process, please feel free to send us an email at info@giveusthefloor.org. Generally, it is because they have not yet watched the required short welcome video we provide upon signup that explains our community rules so that everyone can enjoy the group chats safely. In regards to our app saying it's 12+, this is an Apple setting and we unfortunately don't have control over that. We hope that helps!

### 2/5 — Needs major improvements but seems not being updated

*2025-03-10, version 1.4.2*

The app is a really cool idea, but unfortunately wasn’t executed well. I wish it had a bigger team/budget because it could’ve been good.
The verification process is a bit of a pain, but understandable. However, I hate that you have to keep getting text notifications even after verifying with a phone number. There’s no way to turn them off.

The layout is very bare bones. For some reason, the chat is cleared every couple days, making it very hard to keep conversations going unless the other person is checking in very regularly. This is probably the biggest detractor from the app.

I’m currently looking to switch groups, as mine is very inactive. I only spoke to two people, and one barely said anything.

They have a general resource page on the app with broken links. I told the team, maybe it’s been fixed by now. Same can be said for their YouTube channel, which seemed unmoderated, so I had to tell them about the hate comments being left on videos. Again, this might’ve been fixed by the time you’re reading this.

They’re in a weird in between state when it comes to the amount of responsibility they place on users. One problem is the lack of activity. They tried to fix this by removing people after a few months of inactivity, but it didn’t work. I think they should either make those restrictions even tighter, or, better yet, let people freely see activity level and choose groups themselves. This way, active members can easily congregate. This is the way most social apps of this kind work.

They seem to justify the choice of only allowing one very small group per person by saying it makes it more intimate/easy to moderate/similar to group therapy. But an online dynamic is just not the same, and they ended up failing on every end by trying to have their cake (a social app) and eat it too (a group therapy model).

The current setup makes the app frustratingly restrictive, while STILL failing to do what they set out to do (make a close knit/active but safe community). Very disappointed here.

I believe the app would be better if they leaned further into a normal social/communication app layout (think Discord or Amino), or just gave up and decided to make regular group therapy sessions.

Traditional group therapy (that happens to be online) would allow them to stick to their vision/values while preventing the problems that have appeared. Activity wouldn’t be spread so thin because there’d be limited scheduled meetings. It wouldn’t allow them to serve as many people, but they are clearly lacking in demand anyway.

I’m sorry to anyone working on this project who had high hopes for it, but the app ended up pretty nonfunctional, and it seems there’s no plans to fix it. I’m probably going to delete if my new group doesn’t work out.

### 2/5 — My experience

*2024-06-12, version 1.4.2*

It's helped me a little but I feel has done more harm, I do believe it's because of something that happened to me personally and it's very likely it won't happen to anyone else

### 2/5 — Unable to sign up

*2024-04-11, version 1.4.2*

I’ve used this before when it was on snapchat, I just found the app for the group so I downloaded it. I tried signing up, but I couldn’t for some reason.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App (Read if you disagree)

*2024-06-12*

This app is great for those in need of a support group or who need to share their feelings and experiences with others.

I want to remind anyone considering leaving a negative review based on the format/rules of the group that this app is supposed to be modeled after a therapy support group and isn’t a form of social media or texting. As someone whos been in multiple irl support groups, these rules are pretty universal and are in place to ensure the safety of members if someone voices intent to hurt themselves (this may seem annoying to those of you who want the freedom to share your true feelings or intents without consequence, but the the rules are there for a reason. if this is you, please work with the system and share how u feel anyways.(ik its scary, but itll help))

**Developer response:** Thank you for this awesome review! So glad you've had a good experience and that you get the model. It means a lot to read reviews like this and know that folks have found Give Us The Floor to be helpful!

### 5/5 — Amazing and highly recommended

*2024-06-12*

This app is amazing. It is a great way for teens connect with other teens without actually knowing them in person but as you grow in the app, you get to know them and you become friends with them. I think it’s great that we can connect with other teams as I have been using this app for a month or so now I’ve loved it so far and I hope if you download it I hope you love it too.

### 5/5 — Great app
