Where is the “forced discharge” button has gone? So we are paying now and we can not control the battery either by subscription or through the inverter settings. Can’t get it to accept my Octopus account details and now instead of saving me money it’s costing me a fortune as I can’t get the battery to discharge to the house and all the solar energy is disappearing down a whole! The customer services are non-existent. Would not recommend, certainly not to pay for it! ### 1/5 — Unacceptable Changes to GivEnergy Battery System *2026-06-22, version 4.0.7* I strongly advise people not to buy GivEnergy batteries. GivEnergy is now charging a monthly subscription just to view basic battery information. That’s right — $10 per month for features that are provided free by most other battery systems. Without paying, I can no longer properly view battery history, monitor charging and discharging performance, or see detailed usage data. These are basic functions that customers reasonably expect to have access to after purchasing an expensive battery system. The scheduling system has also become a complete mess. It often defaults to “buy from grid” mode, and when I switch it to use my own battery, it frequently doesn’t work properly. As a result, I end up drawing power from the grid when I should be using stored battery power. To make matters worse, because scheduling features are now restricted, I have to manually select half-hour blocks just to try to get the battery to operate correctly. This is frustrating, time-consuming, and completely unacceptable for a premium-priced product. GivEnergy batteries are already more expensive than many competing systems. Charging customers an ongoing subscription for basic monitoring and control features after the initial purchase is unreasonable. I urge GivEnergy to fix these issues immediately and restore access to essential battery monitoring and scheduling features. If this matter is not addressed, I will be lodging a formal complaint with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and raising my concerns through consumer review platforms. Extremely disappointed. ### 2/5 — No refresh when local mode *2026-06-14, version 4.0.7* The refresh rate even not active and no by hand refresh ### 1/5 — Chancers *2026-06-13, version 4.0.7* Whilst I guess we are ‘lucky’ to have anything at all, the only realistic value of this is it still allows users to control their charging schedule to a degree - for now anyway. We spent a major amount on solar & battery and paid extra for the extended guarantee that was supposed to be ring-fenced - spoiler, it wasn’t - and were assured that the system would be fully accessible and navigable in perpetuity. We now seem to be close to having nothing, the subscription cost is so prohibitive that it’s not worth it as it probably costs about 25% of our total export income. I’m amazed that there hasn’t been a prosecution on the mis-selling of the systems and the company websites should be closed down to prevent people falling victim to GivEnergy. ### 2/5 — No longer working *2026-06-12, version 4.0.7* Latest update appears to have broken the app. Never gets past the “getting things ready” screen. Glad to see some of the described improvements such as auto default to cloud, but now waiting to experience them. ### 1/5 — Unhappy customer *2026-06-11, version 4.0.7* I bought my battery at great expense and all was well with the old app. I expect to be able to fully control my battery and inverter after paying so much for it. All was well until they put out a new app and now you have to pay £4.99 per month to make use of it. I did not buy into that. The app is pretty naff aswell. Sadly this app doesn’t not recognise that and the fact that I am often in different time zones - as a result it adopts my new time zone as if I have packed my solar panels and battery and taken them with me. There needs to be a setting where the app will adopt my home time zone even when I am away. ### 1/5 — Awful *2026-07-29, version 4.0.9* Since upgrade it is useless, I can’t even sign of for subscription, battery has been stuck in idle which means I’m getting no benefit from it and I can’t change it !!! support options are terrible ### 1/5 — Now we have to pay more! *2026-07-26, version 4.0.9* We have had our battery for almost 2 years and it has never functioned as we were advised, not to mention when we call for assistance GivEnergy direct us to the installer and vice versa. As they have gone into administration in the UK, these updates either need to stop or they have to offer support. Currently, if there is a problem after an update, customer cannot be supported. When the app First relaunched it was barely working but I can see they have worked really hard and I would say that it now works better than before the parent company went bust. Credit to them, it is now worth paying for and is managing my usage well. Nice to see updates happening again and generally feels a little nicer. I do miss the home screen buttons for pausing or discharging my battery in one click. It works perfectly and I’m now using the smart scheduler which seems to be saving me some money! I’ve signed up to the Axle Energy VPP which gets me Premium for free.
