## Frequently asked questions about Glance

### What is Glance API?

Glance API is a webhook-based monitoring platform that allows you to display real-time data from any system directly on your iPhone home screen using native widgets. It's designed for developers and DevOps teams to keep an eye on their systems without needing to open a separate app.

### How does Glance API work?

You create a feed in the app to get a unique webhook URL. Then, you send HTTP POST requests with your data from any system to this URL, and your home screen widget will update in real-time with the information.

### What types of data can I monitor with Glance API?

Glance API supports various data schemas and offers multiple feed types, including summary cards, status indicators, and counters. You can monitor API health, sales metrics, build pipelines, IoT devices, and any custom metric that can send an HTTP request.

### Is Glance API secure?

Yes, Glance API prioritizes security and privacy. Each feed has a unique authentication key, your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the developers do not share your data with third parties. You control the data you send and how it's displayed.

### What are the subscription plans for Glance API?

Glance API offers a Free Tier with up to 3 feeds and 100 events per day. Paid plans, Pro and Power, offer more feeds, higher event limits, and longer data retention periods, up to 25 feeds and 45-day retention on the Power Plan.

### Does Glance API have ads?

No, Glance API does not contain advertisements. As it is free to use with optional paid upgrades, users can enjoy an ad-free experience.

### On which devices can I use Glance API?

Glance API is available for iPhone and iPad, supporting the latest iOS design guidelines for a clean and intuitive user experience on Apple devices.

### How often is Glance API updated?

The latest version of Glance API is 1.2.0, last updated on March 25, 2026. The app is actively developed, with more widget types planned for future releases.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.5 — 2026-08-23

fixed some UI bugs, improved integration with AI engines, and introduced a new UI on demand feature (inline UI) which lets you insert the relevant UI per call you want to display on the widget

### 1.3.4 — 2026-08-10

What's New in 1.3.4

Glance AI
Describe a widget in Chat. Glance AI designs the layout, connects your data, and shows a live preview before you publish.

Integrations
Connect Google Calendar, Tasks, Sheets, GitHub, and YouTube from inside the app. On-device Weather, Calendar, Reminders, and step count work without the cloud.

Automations
Keep widgets fresh on a schedule or refresh them directly on your iPhone.

Discover
Browse public widgets, subscribe with one tap, and share your own with a glance.cool link.

Layouts
Create and edit custom widget designs with a live JSON editor and instant preview.

Plus bug fixes and performance improvements across widgets and integrations.

### 1.3.3 — 2026-06-16

What's New in 1.3.3

New: Image Editor & In-App Camera Create and post directly from the app - no need to edit photos outside first. Take a photo, pick one from your library, or choose a color or gradient background, then add text in your choice of font, color, and alignment. Pan and zoom to frame the perfect crop before posting. Switch between your wide and ultra-wide lenses, or pinch to zoom.

Fixes & Improvements

Widget previews now reflect Dark Mode - if your device is set to dark, your preview matches what you'll see on your home screen
Right-to-left languages (Hebrew, Arabic, and others) now display correctly throughout the app, including when typing
Tapping the active tab in the navigation bar scrolls back to the top
Design change in the top navigation bar of the app

### 1.3.2 — 2026-06-01

Fixed a bug where the app could sign you out overnight or after leaving it in the background for a while. The main app and your Home Screen widgets were racing to renew the same token at the same time, which caused Supabase to invalidate the session. That race is gone.

Fixed the notification permission popup appearing the moment you opened the app. It now only shows during onboarding or when you tap "Enable Notifications" in Settings. There's also a new card in Settings so you can see your notification status at a glance.

On iOS 18, adding a Glance widget to your Home Screen now immediately asks you which feed to show, so you don't have to configure it manually after adding it.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-05-04

This update focuses on making your widgets more reliable and easier to use.

Widgets now refresh in the background more consistently. If a widget hasn't updated in a while, a reload button appears in the corner so you can force a fresh update with one tap. Subscribed widgets also now refresh properly when a push notification arrives.

We added a how-to guide inside the app covering everything from adding a widget to your home screen to subscribing to public widgets and setting up your own feeds. You'll also see a small celebration when you create or subscribe to your first widget.

A few visual fixes landed too: the floating navigation bar no longer shows a rectangular backdrop, the search bar on the Discover page no longer shows an outline when tapped, and the reload button is now properly positioned in the widget corner on all device sizes.
