## What is GlanceVNC?

Connect to your computers from your iPhone or iPad with GlanceVNC, a remote desktop app for RDP, VNC and compatible Mac Screen Sharing servers.

CONTROL YOUR WAY
Tap directly in Touch mode or move the pointer in Trackpad mode. Pinch to zoom in either mode. Trackpad mode follows the pointer across the enlarged desktop; Touch mode lets you tap the area you zoomed into. Switch modes without losing your zoom, use two fingers to scroll, and hold to drag. Simple built-in help explains each gesture.

YOUR COMPUTERS AT A GLANCE
Save your connections for quick access, discover compatible VNC computers on your local network, and recognise recent sessions with desktop previews saved on your device. Personalise your home screen with a custom background. Review RDP server certificates in the app when approval is needed; a changed certificate requires a new review.

MADE FOR IPHONE AND IPAD
A compact iPhone layout and spacious iPad cards keep your connections easy to reach. Use the on-screen keyboard or a compatible external keyboard and pointing device. Choose 16-bit or 24-bit colour for your next VNC connection. Enjoy clear panels on iOS 18 and Liquid Glass on iOS 26 and later, with layouts that adapt to landscape and larger text.

EXCHANGE CLIPBOARD TEXT
Copy plain text from a compatible VNC, Mac Screen Sharing or RDP desktop to your device, or send device text to the remote clipboard. Open the expanded session toolbar to use Copy from remote or Paste to remote, then use the remote app’s Paste command to insert text.

KEEP YOUR CONNECTIONS WITH YOU
Saved connection details sync through iCloud. Saved passwords use Apple Keychain and can sync through iCloud Keychain when available. Desktop previews and custom backgrounds stay on your device.

GlanceVNC requires a computer with a compatible RDP or VNC server, or Mac Screen Sharing enabled and a network connection that can reach it. Remote access outside your local network requires your own network setup. Requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later, including iOS and iPadOS 26.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-10-04

• In Trackpad mode, pinch to zoom around the pointer. The enlarged desktop follows it as you move, stops panning at the desktop’s edge, and follows again when the pointer moves back.
• In Touch mode, pinch around the area you want to enlarge, then tap directly on the zoomed desktop. Switching modes preserves your zoom level.
• Pinch zoom is always available, and two-finger swipes still scroll the remote computer.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-28

• Copy plain text from your remote desktop to your device, or send device text to the remote clipboard in VNC, Mac Screen Sharing and RDP sessions using the expanded toolbar’s “Copy from remote” and “Paste to remote” buttons. Use Paste on the remote desktop to insert the sent text.
• Fixed TigerVNC connections getting stuck on “Loading desktop” on Linux, including CachyOS.
• Restored desktop loading for macOS Screen Sharing while retaining the TigerVNC fix.
• Improved macOS Screen Sharing startup: GlanceVNC waits longer for the desktop and automatically retries once if desktop preparation times out.
• What’s New now shows a text-based version history.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-25

GlanceVNC now supports iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 or later, bringing your remote desktops to more iPhones and iPads, including those running iOS and iPadOS 26.

• Clear panels and easy-to-reach controls on iOS 18, with Liquid Glass on iOS 26 and later.
• Improved layouts for landscape orientation and larger text.
• Fixed remote desktops appearing stretched after rotating between portrait and landscape.
• Improved graphics compatibility to prevent a crash when displaying remote desktop updates on some devices.

Includes VNC, Mac Screen Sharing and RDP connections, in-app RDP certificate review, iCloud sync for saved connection settings, and Touch and Trackpad controls.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-24

GlanceVNC now supports RDP alongside VNC and Mac Screen Sharing.

• Connect to compatible Windows and Linux desktops using RDP.
• Review and approve RDP server certificates in the app, with remembered approval and a new review if the certificate changes.
• Improved VNC colour-format compatibility for a wider range of servers.
• More reliable RDP graphics setup, clearer connection progress and a helpful message if the desktop does not arrive.
• Tap the desktop to hide the keyboard in either Touch or Trackpad mode. The tap still performs the usual remote click.
• Sync connection protocol, approved certificate fingerprint, remote computer profile and VNC sharing preferences through iCloud.
• Find the latest improvements in Settings → What's New, alongside third-party licences and the privacy policy.
