I’ve contacted both the seller of the book and Glassboxx and have been told they will get back to me. The system does not have a specific spot to create an account and instead says all you need to do is type in your email from the website you purchased your book and follow instructions.. yet Glassboxx does not recognize my email and no one has gotten back to me. A total waist of money on the book and a total waist of time with this app. **Developer response:** We are very sorry to hear about this and we understand your frustration. Thank you for your feedback. ### 2/5 — Worst App update ever *2025-03-30, version 3.1.0* I bought this app last year and it did everything it needed to. Then they released an update which is utterly awful. It used to be easy to adjust the font, now it’s buried in a fiddly menu that you have to guess the size you’ve adjusted it to. I set the screen colour how I want it to then it constantly changes back by itself. I’ve complained to the support. Nothings changed. Every brother that uses this app is facing the same issues. Just roll it back to the previous version!!!! How is it possible to ruin an app this badly?! Madness. ### 1/5 — Appalling *2025-02-21, version 3.1.0* I am really fed up with this app. I thought that it could not get any worse, but I was wrong. At least before the latest update it was possible to increase the size of the print and turn the phone onto its side so that you could get the whole page on the screen. Now, I either have to get a magnifying glass or keep moving the screen from side to side after increasing the font size. Also when I opened up the app it took me back to the start of the book and I had to go through over 60 pages to get back to where I was. Basically not happy and seriously contemplating moving back to hard copy having used my phone for my BRF Bible reading notes for several years without any problems until it was switched to this app, which is causing me considerable irritation ### 2/5 — Needs web connection *2024-10-15, version 2.4.2* Says it can be downloaded and used remotely. This isn’t true. I downloaded a book and the minute I’m underground and want to open it I can’t. 😤😤 ### 1/5 — Non-functional *2024-09-22* Downloaded this for access to one book that publisher only made available e-book form through the app. Was unable to access the book, and nearly a month after reporting this to their support, there’s no solution or update. Horrible App! *2024-07-13* Bought an ebook which won’t download. Customer help is nonexistent. Now I’ve paid for a book that I can’t read! Unless you like being screwed, pick something else. The app won’t do basic things like zoom. So all the maps in the book are worthless. Thank you for your feedback, it is always welcomed! ### 1/5 — Awful app *2024-05-04, version 2.4.2* How Glassboxx managed to convince some publishers to go with them as the e-book option is beyond me... They clearly did not test the app themselves before signing up. Beyond the UI being overall terrible, the simples things like deciding the size of the app window does not work.... There are two options, either let it cover your entire screen, or let it take up a tiny corner making it impossible to read... If you want to have a digital notebook and your book side by side, then you'll need to sit 5cm awat from your screen to read the text... You cannot enlarge it to cover half your screen. ### 1/5 — Awful *2024-04-16, version 2.4.2* Glassboxx is an app that allows you to take a book you’ve paid for and read it in such a basic, terrible, unusable way that you’ll wonder why you bothered to buy it in the first place. I’ve been a supporter of books through the platform Unbound pretty much since they started. Their embrace of this shoddy product, instead of simply giving you the readable file for the book you’ve backed so you can read it on your own device in your own way, guarantees I’ll never be supporting anything through them again. ### 1/5 — Ignores complaints *2024-04-07, version 2.4.2* Why don’t you acknowledge or answer customer complaints? ### 1/5 — Terrible UI *2024-01-09, version 2.4.2* All around terrible UI. Highlighting, or any annotations in general is a pain to use. I tried using their browser interface and it was even worse: It would unsave all of my highlights, making all my effort an absolute waste. Sad to see that for an app that is quite needed (since this is how some ebook sellers want buyers to read their books), it is highly lacking in all the major areas that make it a good reading app. Adobe PDF reader and even Apple's Preview have a better reading UI than this. ### 1/5 — Ebook incompatible *2023-12-01, version 2.4.2* App crashes every 30 sec. Please talk to our customer services team at help@glassboxx.com - we will then be able to fix this for you. ### 1/5 — Unusable app *2023-10-02, version 2.4.11* I am blown away how I’m 2023 fake reviews are everywhere. How is this app so wonderful and easy to use for so many fake accounts when in reality it’s not working at all. How does the app developer so proud of having such a wreck in the App Store and not do anything to make it work. The iOS version is not working. It crashed after I’ve installed it, twice now, before I was even able to see the book. Once I managed to click the book, it’s been stuck in loading mode and eventually after about 30 seconds, the book was loaded and every page flip or scroll is just a nightmare. The page becomes blank and 10-15 seconds later I can see it load. It’s an iPhone 12, not a Nokia 3310 that I am loading it on and it’s not working. I don’t want to see two columns per page, the only way to stop this is by increasing the font to a size you can see from the moon. Two simple options to make it better for the end user. ### 1/5 — seriously frustrating *2026-06-11* the app is unuseable so far— i’m stuck with an error message saying my email address is not recognized, and not able to get to the book i just purchased. i’ve checked that the email address i’m entering matches the email address in the app store. Downloaded the app, went through the verification process and 48 hours the books are still not available in the app. I’ve emailed customer services and not had any response. So much for instant download! ### 1/5 — This app sucks *2026-02-23, version 3.1.0* Don't buy anything from anyone who supports this app. Horrific experience. Cant even turn my phone screen sideways to read. No audio option for PDF. Cant print it. Can't export it anywhere. I wish I could give it zero stars. Or negative five stars. ### 1/5 — Worst book app I’ve seen *2026-02-11, version 3.1.0* Purchased an audiobook and was forced to use this app. I can understand the logic from the provider as it can successfully gatekeep the content. App has a poor UX. The code needed to login takes around 2 mins of the 5 mins they allow. Then when you finally gain entry the purchased audiobook will not download and you have to email customer support. Follow their directions exactly and it still does not work. ### 1/5 — Ridiculous app *2025-12-20, version 3.1.0* Table of contents doesn’t respond to touch. No option to download. And of course, riddled with DRM. Based on other reviews, isn’t likely that developer will ever respond or fix. Sad. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2025-09-09, version 3.1.0* I’d love nothing better than to support an alternative to Amazon. But Glassboxx isn’t it. I’ve bought a book but can’t access it and have received no explanation from tech support or information as to when the issue might be resolved. The Help section is ridiculously basic. Now I can’t even log in because the app is telling me my verification code isn’t valid. Help just tells me to enter my verification code to log in! ### 1/5 — Unusable *2025-09-01, version 3.1.0* The app says my book is downloaded but won’t let me read it. Been like this for a month after working fine before albeit with all the issues with font size mentioned in other reviews. Now totally frozen and unusable. ### 1/5 — Awful app to read a book *2025-07-11, version 3.1.0* The app is awful. When you select a book to read there is no way to go back and select another book. You have to close the app and start again. When readinng a book you can’t zoom in, use bookmarks or easily navigate the book. You have to start at page one and just keep swiping. I like the ability to set the number of columns per page and the font size for readability. You can even customize settings for background that are separate from the global Iphone settings. It is so beautiful and zen compared to kindle! Font selection, setting selections are intuitive. They even have a font for dyslexics (being one I really appreciate the developers for considering us). If I could wish for one additional feature it would be to allow for pagination via the cursor keys available on an iPad Magic Keyboard. Congrats for an excellent design that is truly user-centered! One aspect of the design that I find a bit distracting is the red reading progress bar at the bottom of the page. It's nice to know how much I've read but the color red is so strongly associated with STOP (at least in the USA) my concentration is broken every time I look at the bottom of the page. Perhaps a more neutral color that even color blind people could see, like a royal blue? **Developer response:** I will pass your comments on to our Design Team who will be very pleased to receive such very positive feedback.
