## What is Glean?

Most food diaries want you to weigh things. Glean just wants to know what you ate.

It's for anyone whose gut has turned into a daily question. People with an IBS diagnosis. People who've been told there's nothing wrong and are still bloated by three in the afternoon. People working out whether it's the dairy, the stress, or the week before their period.

Type your meal, say it out loud, photograph the plate, scan a barcode, or paste a link to the recipe you cooked from. Then note how you felt: bloated, fine, wiped out, better than yesterday. Most days it takes under a minute.

After three meals and three notes, Glean gives you a first read — what keeps turning up, when things tend to land. Keep going and it starts weighing foods against each other in ordinary language, and shows you how sure it is, because a pattern drawn from three days isn't the same as one drawn from three weeks.

Then there's the part no other gut app does. Upload a blood test, a hormone panel, a DNA report, an allergy test, a body composition scan — Glean reads the markers against what you've actually been eating and how you've actually been feeling. Your ferritin and your energy slumps, in the same place, for once.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Log a meal five ways: type it, speak it, photograph it, scan the barcode, or paste the recipe link
• Track bloating, bowel movements, energy, mood, supplements, alcohol and your cycle
• Connect Apple Health, read-only, for sleep, steps, cycle and weight
• Get rhythms — patterns written plainly, with their confidence shown
• Upload any lab result and have every marker read in the context of your week
• Read a weekly report that ties the week together and suggests one thing to try next
• Keep the recipes that agreed with you, and build a shopping list from them
• Export a clean PDF for your GP, or a CSV for yourself, whenever you want

IF YOU'RE WORKING ON YOUR WEIGHT

There's an optional plan with real calorie and protein targets, worked out from your own measurements rather than a generic table, and recipes that fit them. It stays off unless you turn it on. If you never turn it on, you will never see a calorie in this app.

FREE AND PRO

Logging, symptoms, health data and your rhythms are free, and stay free. Pro adds lab uploads, the deep weekly report, two-week experiments that track themselves, the weight plan, and unlimited history. There's a free trial, and a one-off lifetime option if you'd rather not subscribe to anything.

WHAT GLEAN ISN'T

No scores. No streaks. Nothing turns red because you had a bad week. Glean doesn't diagnose anything and isn't a medical device. The point is to walk into your GP's appointment with a fortnight of real evidence instead of "I think it might be dairy?".

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.4 — 2026-08-20

Fixed the weight plan showing up for some accounts it shouldn't have.

Fixed a rare case where "read again" on a meal could use out-of-date ingredients.

Fixed the evening reminder toggle sometimes not saving.

Smaller fixes throughout.

### 2.3 — 2026-08-19

Fixed a rare issue where signing in on Android could leave you stuck on the health-data consent screen.

Fixed a related issue where a saved meal sometimes didn't appear on Today until the app was restarted.

Processed food is read more carefully now — a tin of beans or a bowl of bran flakes won't be flagged just for coming in a packet.

Smaller fixes and polish throughout.

### 2.2 — 2026-08-12

Glean says something back sooner. After three meals and three notes on how you're feeling, you'll get a first read — what keeps turning up, when things tend to land — instead of waiting a week for it.

Today now shows how close that first read is, and which half is missing.

Your steps appear in the journal, alongside sleep and workouts.

Drinks count towards the day's total if you're following a weight plan, with proper estimates for named cocktails.

Fixed: the last step of setting up could fail without saying so, and looked like a button that didn't work.

### 2.0 — 2026-08-01

Your weekly kitchen ideas now remember what you've already saved — no more repeat recipes.

If a week's read comes up just short, you'll now see exactly what's needed to unlock the next one, with time to catch up before it runs.

Rhythms now gives new users the right number of days before their first read arrives.

Smaller fixes and polish throughout.

### 1.9 — 2026-07-28

Your weight plan now shows the full picture — carbs and fat targets alongside protein and fibre, each explained in plain terms for how it was worked out for you.

Turning a weight goal off now switches off its calorie numbers everywhere straight away, and picks up again exactly where you left off if you turn it back on. No weight goal yet? The plan screen now invites you to start one, rather than a dead end.

More reliable daily totals, and further polish underneath.
