To actually collect the rings you pass through, you must pass nearly exactly through their center, not insentivizing the player not to fly around as they please, but to follow an exact pattern that's not fun, but frustrating, as the rings clearly darken as you pass through them, but you may still get nothing from it unless you pass through the exact center.
