## What is GLIMR?

Make any sound strummable.

Hold SAMPLE and make a sound: your voice, a wine glass, a car horn, your cat. GLIMR turns it into an instrument you play like a harp. Pick a chord, sweep your finger across the strings, and your sound rings out in tune and in harmony.

SAMPLE ANYTHING
- Hold to sample from the mic. GLIMR waits for your sound, so there's no dead air at the start.
- GLIMR finds the pitch for you, or you can set the root yourself.
- Trim, fade, reverse and normalize your samples, or import your own audio files.

PLAY CHORDS WITH ONE FINGER
- Eight chord types in every key: major, minor, 7th, major 7th, minor 7th, diminished, augmented and sus4.
- Strum the strings, or tap them one at a time. Strum faster to play louder.
- Shape the sound with LOFI, DRIVE and CHORUS, plus delay and reverb. The delay locks to your tempo.

BUILT-IN RHYTHM BOX
- Eight grooves: rock, pop, disco, samba, waltz, bossa, lo-fi and ballad.
- Edit any pattern: tap to add a hit, drag up or down to set how hard it hits.
- Set the tempo with tap tempo, or type it in.

RECORD AND TAKE IT ANYWHERE
- Tap REC to capture what you play.
- Share the strings and drums as separate 24-bit WAV files, ready to mix.
- Export your strings as MIDI and rebuild the part in your DAW.
- Send takes to Files, AirDrop or any app.

PLAY YOUR DAW FROM THE STRINGS
- Turn on MIDI out in Settings and GLIMR becomes a MIDI controller.
- Strums, chords and drums play any synth or DAW over USB or Wi-Fi.

Works on iPhone and iPad. No account, no subscription, no ads. Your sounds stay on your device.

### 4/5 — Positive request

*2026-10-19*

I’m really enjoying using this app, and I’d love to enjoy it even more!

I have three feature requests:

1. Independent volume control for the rhythm track and sample audio
2. Step sequencing for sample playback (programming samples step by step)
3. Overdubbing multiple samples (layering samples by recording them one at a time)

Thank you for making such a fun app. I hope you’ll consider these suggestions!

### 5/5 — Arpeggiator

*2026-10-17*

Please consider adding arpeggiator presets

### 5/5 — Au top

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-10-29

Loop your performance.

• LOOP: tap the new LOOP button to stack up to four layers. Record, then add layers on top, each with its own sound if you like.
• It keeps its own time, with a metronome and count-in, so your loops stay tight with or without the drums.
• Change the loop's length any time: go shorter without losing anything, or longer to make room for more.
• Mute or turn down any layer, undo the last one, and save the whole loop to Recordings.
• Your layers play back on the strings, each glowing in its own colour.
• The FX window now sits beside the strings, so you can strum while you dial in a sound.

### 1.4 — 2026-10-23

Four new drum kits, and your sounds are easier to share.

• Five drum kits in the Rhythm box: GLIMR, LOFI, TRAP, ROCK and HOUSE. Tap KIT under the grid to switch, even mid-groove.
• Share your samples: every sound in Files has a share button. AirDrop it, send it, or save it as a WAV.
• Clearer controls: SAMPLE is now NEW SAMPLE. Hold it and make a sound, and GLIMR tunes all 12 strings to it. REC records your performance as a take, with a red frame around the screen while it runs.
• A quick hint the first time you use each one.

### 1.3 — 2026-10-20

New: an optional guided tour that shows you around GLIMR, from strumming and chords to the rhythm box, sample editor, FX and file library. Skip it anytime, or replay it later in Settings → Take the tour.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-17

Pinch to zoom in the sample editor. Zoom right into your waveform for precise trims, drag to scroll, and double-tap to see the whole sample again.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-13

GLIMR now speaks MIDI. Play any synth or DAW from GLIMR's strings and chords, over USB or Wi-Fi. Turn it on in Settings > MIDI.

The sample editor now docks beside the strings, so you can keep strumming while you edit.

Fixed edge swipes that could interrupt playing.
