It is awesome. Use it on drums, use it on synths, use it on everything. The UI is incredibly clear, it stretches well across various hosts. Not much else to say, if you have any inkling to glitch up anything then this is the app you need. ### 5/5 — Glitching the Core *2020-03-26, version 1.0* Very nice effect for subtle or heavy musical distortions of an incoming audio signal. Offers various ways of manipulation and even „live tweaking“. Does also a good job with the „set and forget“ method - so you are not forced to live-tweak. Small, clean and usable. And a decent price-tag. Grab it and explore. ### 5/5 — Not just for glitching *2020-03-26* I love this plugin so much already. While it’s incredible for glitching your drum beats (live too, not just on sampled loops), try it on other instruments too - it can be used for introducing subtle variations on repeating patterns, adding texture to pads, gating effects like a fake side chain compression and probably loads more that I haven’t tried yet. Already found it useful as an inspiration tool for getting over a mental block on a melody too. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Glitchcore is no longer available in AUM or Loopy Pro *2023-08-05* When searching for AUv3 sources, Glitchcore is not in the list. Please fix this if possible as I like the app and it used to work well until fairly recently. ### 1/5 — Does not show up in any AU host *2022-07-09* This may just be a new problem but I spent a couple hours on trying to get this to show up in GarageBand and couldn’t get it to work. Kinda bummed my dudes. **Developer response:** This can happen with any new AUv3 on an iOS device, and is typically fixed by turning the device off and on again. If you send me an email at info@glitchbreaks.com I can try to replicate the issues you are having and help you resolve them. ### 2/5 — Crashes any time I try to save the file. *2022-01-13* The software is great, and it’s a nice alternative to the GarageBand effects, which are hot garbage. The primary issue is any time I try to export a song as an mp3 file the software crashes and disables itself. I paid 4$ for this. Is there any fix to this? ### 2/5 — I really need help. *2020-12-19* The app won’t let me get in, even after I opened garage band. It just shows the title screen and won’t budge. And I know this is the case because I bought it three times on two devices. It would be nice if you had a tutorial on how to get into the actual app. **Developer response:** The app is an auv3 only effect, it does not have a standalone mode. This is part of the app description. To use it in garage band you must add it as an effect to a track. ### 3/5 — Interesting, but buggy and unsupported *2023-12-14, version 1.0.2* The concept is nice and pretty straightforward and it’s easy to use. But it has issues when being triggered via auv3 parameters with toggles becoming stuck. Unfortunately, the developer doesn’t seem to answer emails so I assume this is abandonware by now. ### 3/5 — Very powerhungry *2021-10-08, version 1.0.2* It is a nice app but I can’t integrate it in any of my live sets as auv3 within AUM because ist just eats up 40% of my processing power. Stable performance, lean and clear interface. Thank you! ### 5/5 — My must-have glitching tool. Heavily recommended! 🤖✨ *2023-01-14, version 1.0.2* I love Glitchcore because of the grid for step sequencing, chaining patterns, and a few modes of movement. It’s not a mysterious Hologram’s Microcosm algorithm magic under the hood (but if you want one button for shredding your signal, it can be done!), so I can quickly set up a few patterns, check which one I like, and move to the next thing. For me, it is a chainsaw with a scalpe, perfect for my use. Not to mention a default side button for the AUM interface named GLITCH, which is a simple stutter if you suddenly want to spice things up without stopping jamming. ### 5/5 — State saving for sequence? *2023-01-11, version 1.0.2* I‘ve got a zillion ideas what could be added, but there is one thing really needed: State saving for sequence. In GarageBand you can find it on the left side in a track, for example I have a Grand Piano on a track and on the left in the Plugins and EQ section I chose edit, tapped a green plus, Audio Unit Extensions, then selected GlitchCore ### 5/5 — Intuitive, lightweight, super fun *2020-08-16* Really enjoying the functionality of this plug-in. The price is right, the plug-in is very space efficient (1.6MB as of this review), and I’m already having a ton of fun chopping up piano samples using Retro Piano and Fugue Machine inside of AUM. I found an interview with the developer on YouTube that was a great walkthrough of the main functionality.
