GlitchScaper is a rhythm machine with six sound generators, each controlled by a two-layer cycle sequencer, designed to easily create glitchy patterns and scapes. To quickly find new ideas, each generator has separate options for making sequences and tones. The parameters of the new sequences and tones are set randomly, but are guided by several user-defined options, which in outline define the steps of the sequence and the type of tone or noise. This allows you make a quick draft of a pattern and then simply tweak it to get the final sound. The advanced copy function gives you ability to quickly make a new preset by copying sequences and tones from existing ones. The tone generator makes bright and rich sounds based on 12 complex waveforms or various types of noise, and can also use an external input as a signal source. Effects transform the tone from smoothly varying to full of squeaks and rattles. Each effect is modulated by a special envelope generator with different shapes that change throughout the sequencer step. The sound generators have individual spatial effects, as well as a common reverb space for all generators that adds an ambient layer to the final mix. The final mix can be even brighter and heavy or pumping with the built-in harmonic exciter and bass enhancer. The intuitive interface and powerful sound design features make this application super convenient for creating your own, unique sound. GlitchScaper is great for creating simple beats with an interesting and unusual sound, but it was originally designed for digital distorted patterns with longer steps that blend perfectly with the rhythms of classic drum machines and sequencers. GlitchScaper is a universal application for iOS and macOS. It can work on iPhone and iPad as well as Mac / MacBook with M1 chip (and later). GlitchScaper works on iPhone and iPad standalone, as an Audio Unit or Inter-App Audio module, and supports Audiobus and Ableton Link. On MacOS, GlitchScaper can works both as a standalone application and as an Audio unit (AUv3) with DAWs and other hosts that support AUv3 plugins. All application features are available on iOS and macOS, including MIDI support (with a MIDI learn option) and audio unit parameters. I mean you can mess around with it make some wild sounds, but you really have no idea what you’re doing. The font is so small. On the iPad I give it a 5 on the iPhone I give it a 2, just cuz its that coo ### 5/5 — Gut gemacht, Igor *2024-02-18* Erstmal großes Lob für die Universal App. Ein Grund mehr, sich Igors andere Apps anzusehen. Zweitens genau so großes Lob für die AUv3 Version. Der Zugang ist nicht einfach, aber hey, wozu sind wir da, wenn nicht zum Lernen. Prinzipiell ein 6-spuriger Drumcomputer, der auch andere Sounds als Trommeln erzeugen kann. Aber eine Bitte habe ich: vielleicht habe ich es nicht gesehen, aber orange auf schwarz muss nun wirklich nicht sein. Nicht cool. Wie wärs mit schwarz auf weiss, vielleicht ungewöhnlich, aber dafür sehr gut. Zumindest optional. Thanks A lot ### 5/5 — A breath of fresh air *2023-11-22, version 1.2* In an age were so many apps are boring variants of each other, such as reverbs, it is a breath of fresh air to find an app that not only does something different, but that its difference is desirable. GlitchScaper creatively mangles whatever it is applied to, and the results can be extensively tailored to suit whatever you’re working on. Used sparingly, what occurs can be excellent. Just remember one operational quirk of the app. If you select a preset, you MUST either double tap from the list to load it, or tap ‘Set’ from the main menu. ### 5/5 — A star *2023-11-13* A glitch groovebox from a reliably outstanding developer, this app lets users sculpt musically useful rhythms, drones, and melodies from a simple set of algorithms. The straightforward interface gives just enough control to direct the inherent wildness of the generated sounds. There is much to love here. The contrast level of the font color relative to the dark background could be improved, and I always like more control and more sound design possibilities, but these are dispositional wishes and not at all complaints. The randomization features of the app are top notch. The built-in help makes it easy to learn. ### 5/5 — Great app from one of the iOS masters *2023-04-12* GlitchScaper is up there with Spacefields as one of my fav apps from this dev for easy, usable sound design purposes. While not as obvious as other apps I figured out the workflow within 10 mins and have been using it everyday for the last week. No one is doing it like Igor and he truly makes creating on an iPad an unique experience. ### 1/5 — Unusable interface, illegible font size *2023-04-08* The font size on an iPhone 11 Pro Max is illegible if you wear glasses. Accessibility is important, and dropping $15 on an app with such a poorly designed UI is a real shame. There’s no hierarchy in the design, just a spreadsheet with a tiny font. Frankly Apple shouldn’t approve apps that care so little about people with bad vision. The app sounds good, but it will be impossible for me to use beyond the presets. ### 4/5 — Pretty sweet! *2023-04-07* Can get to some interesting sounds with this. I love using it as an AUV3 effect. The one thing that would bump it up to five stars for me is if you could get an expanded view of single generator that shows all paramteres that are buried in the five slots. This button also allows you to make reverb tails continue after the sequencer stops. - Added the ability to create groups of presets. Now the list of presets can be organized more conveniently. You can create groups, move presets between groups and merge them. The "Favorites" group is created automatically when you make a preset a favorite. The "Factory" group contains all factory presets, and can be hidden in the settings. - Added the ability to export and import presets and groups.
