### 5/5 — Picture taking addict

*2020-10-17*

Great app. User friendly and can make any picture cool and impressive. Endless ways to tweak color temps and saturations to give your photo any cool look want.

This app is a must have for anyone with a twisted dark side to their art. The possibilities are limitless. The mirror effect is simply put.... genius. You move very slowly bringing each and every mirror effect on, so you catch every subtle change that transformed your original pic into a work of art so cool even you can’t believe how talented you are. Here’s the truth. Its the app!! And after the beautifully cool as hell imagery youve been unfolding for the past 5 hours. You will soon convince that your such an amazing artist with such a dark original sensibility that you will convince yourself that you need an art installation at your local art gallery. YES ITS THAT GOOD!!!! -heather

### 5/5 — This app is fantastic for painting-like photo effects

I’ve been using this app for some time and enjoy it so much. It’s so easy to take a photo and create a vintage or painting like affect. There’s so many different choices and it couldn’t be easier to use. A lot of thought and effort went into making this app one of my favorite photo edits.

### 5/5 — Impressive!

*2019-11-07, version 2.2.1*

This app can do much more than its name implies with a sizable file export: mirrors, numerous distortion possibilities, curves, color adjustments, crop, text, and draw. There is no option for layers but there is plenty here! Well worth the few dollars, and no crazy in-app purchases.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — WOW! Can't even use this without a review!

*2017-09-12*

Ok I get the app creator is a college student, but let me give some advice as a photographer and someone who GREATLY VALUES OTHERS REVIEWS.
PLEASE LET OTHERS ACTUALLY USE YOUR APP IF YOU WANT AN HONEST REVIEW! I will not NOT GIVE YOU an honest review if I can't use your app, and I don't appreciate trying to edit my pictures and every 10-30 seconds a message pops up telling me a college student is a creator and to please rate the if I like it.
Yes I would be happy to, WHEN I USE IT! But not when I haven't even used it! This makes me want to delete it! This angers me more than anything when app creators constantly pester people before they even use an app. Apple needs to crack down on this. It's getting out of control!

Also your app would be more "user friendly" if you could use it in landscape mode. This is enough to make me want to delete it. But because I like the features I thought I might overlook that. But now, I'm thinking twice since I can't seem to DO ANYTHING WITHOUT BEING PESTERED FOR A REVIEW. IF I get asked for an update before I find out how I like this app, it will be deleted.
Please be aware everyone, you will be constantly bugged until you give a review!

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2017-07-27, version 2.1*

Just blurs the pic with different colours. Could do better with photoshop

### 1/5 — REALLY!

*2017-07-27*

I just open this app for the first time three minutes ago and have already had 3 requests by the developer for a review.
One of the interruptions/requests even stated -
College student made this App...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE rate App now... is the begging request of the developer!

So you want the Review ASAP. Need a Review ASAP. Well you got it, here you go.!.!.!
- if I could give less than 1 star I would.
- focus is on how many installations app receives, not user experience.
- seems to only have 3 filters. Maybe there are more features in app but it won't allow me to use them because I have to respond to review and comment requests every 30 seconds. ** If your that desperate for positive feedback then maybe you should give users a chance to use the app first.

I WOULD NOT recommend to anyone unless they like photo editing APPS that interrupt your creative flow.

Hopefully I will be able to get several hundred people to download this app and promptly give a 1 star rating ASAP so you all can meet your goals

### 1/5 — Nag, nag, nag...

*2017-06-20, version 2.1*

An interesting app but the incessant begging for a review guarantees it's deletion. You want a review? Fine. Minus ten stars... just not worth the aggravation.

### 1/5 — Yeah, i like it...but

*2016-03-31, version 2.0.1*

The social infrastructure is a lot to be desired... Want to integrate visualisation as I work so ca re-track my own data!

### 1/5 — Reasonable app ruined by review nag

*2015-10-11, version 1.0*

If I like your app I'll write a good review. If you nag me to write one, I'll write a bad review. Nagging every five seconds ruins the user experience

### 1/5 — Awful

*2015-01-16, version 1.0*

Incessantly nags for a review. "Later" apparently means 7 seconds later.

Oh, and you can't avoid having a border on your image.

### 1/5 — Deleted due to security concern

*2014-05-30*

Downloaded this app this morning to try it out. Had to give it access to my photos to experiment.
The filters looked okay, set it aside to test more later.
I have just noticed that photos from my "protected" folder have been accessed, and my camera has been taking photos (which are blank) while the phone was locked.
This is the only new app I have, and I am sure that it is responsible. Deleted.

### 2/5 — Not very useful

*2019-07-08*

8 July 2019

I did not find this photo editor very useful. Having to select filters before doing anything else in a photo is not convenient and just did not click with a normal workflow. The filters tend to degrade the photo too much and there tends to be a lot of unwanted artifacts when applying a filter. This issue is exacerbated by further post-filter application especially when trying to sharpen an image.

There are much better photo editor apps availavle and I would personally recommend looking at those before possibly settling on this one.

### 2/5 — Annoying review prompt

*2014-11-23, version 1.0*

Seriously!

*2024-01-24, version 2.2.1*

If you want to add mood or other filters that you don’t see a lot elsewhere, this is the app for you!

### 5/5 — I’ve been using this *every* day lately

*2023-12-07*

I’ve had Gloomlogue forever- even before they changed the icon and the hue and cry brought it back. I use it in fits and starts, often in very different ways each time. Fairly recently I was creating mandalas and altering them with combinations of the torus lens, adding a vortex or whirl, sometimes both. Occasionally I’ve used the bump and often used the various kaleidoscope manipulations. I believe the kaleidoscope doesn’t always save the same image I thought I’d saved.

I’d make some changes, if it were up to me but they’re mainly to keep it fresh and make it a little more versatile. The textures like bokeh are static and I *really* wish I could rotate and resize them because they’re often not quite where they should be. It’s hard to stay interested in them if they’re always the same.

I used the borders a lot when I’d just gotten it but lately they’ve seemed too stiff. I love the faded light, somewhat smudged borders I get with some of the initial filters like “detailed” and “illustrate” and sometimes wish I could get that look on it’s own without modifying the entire image.

I know I reviewed Gloomlogue prior to this but Apple used to wipe out reviews when an app was updated to an entirely new version. I review most of my apps, mostly for my own benefit since I can’t possibly remember all of them.
