## What is Gloss?

Real language, from Paris to Seoul and beyond.
Gloss puts what you need to learn a language in one place: live voice classes with AI tutors, notes after every class, a diary that gets corrected, reading, and review that brings back what you nearly forgot.

Tutors from where the language lives
Over 30 AI tutors across eight languages, each with their own city, personality and way of teaching. Some also teach their city's own way of speaking, in regional courses: Busan Korean, Rioplatense Spanish, Québec French, and Egyptian, Levantine, Emirati and Moroccan Arabic.

Every live class ends in notes
Talk with your tutor in a live voice class: free talk, a topic, an article, role-play, debate or shadowing. Afterwards you get notes with the words you asked about, your corrections and better ways to say it.

Tutors who remember you
Tell one tutor about your week and the others know too. See, correct or delete anything they remember in the Memory Centre.

They text back
Message your tutors between classes, send a photo, and get a reply in their own voice.

Start from day one
First Steps classes for complete beginners, a quick level check, and courses from beginner to advanced that you can download and use offline.

Learn from what you love
Write a diary and get it corrected. Share articles from Safari and tap any word to look it up. Save lines from the shows you watch with the Gloss web clipper for your computer's browser. It all comes back as flashcards in Review.

Ready for whatever life throws at you
Practicpe for TOPIK and OPIc, and use the Business centre for meetings, emails and interviews in English. There are Business English and Academic Korean courses too.

Gloss everywhere
Home Screen widgets, your live class on the Lock Screen, and Review on Apple Watch.

Eight study languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French, German and Modern Standard Arabic. Tutors are AI characters, and their replies and feedback can make mistakes. AI features need an internet connection and your consent to AI processing.

About the developer
I'm Tom (the real one, not the AI tutor). I studied French and Spanish at King's College London, then moved to Korea and reached TOPIK 6 after three years. Gloss isn't a team or a company. It's just me, putting the methods I actually used to learn three languages into one app: real conversations, notes from every class, a diary you get corrected, and review that brings back what you nearly forgot. I hope you enjoy learning with Gloss. I wish I'd had it ten years ago.

Subscriptions and credits
• Eligible new learners get one free 10-minute class with their first tutor during setup. An iCloud sign-in is required. This is not a subscription trial.
• Plus is a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. It includes messages and word lookups within fair-use limits, and 60 credits every month on either plan. Monthly credits expire at the end of their month.
• A 25-minute class uses 10 credits. First Steps classes and course lessons use 3 credits per 5 minutes; practice and shadowing use 2 per 5 minutes. The cost is shown before you start.
• Credit packs add 20 or 240 credits, and pack credits never expire.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings.

### 5/5 — Best app for language learning

*2026-10-19*

The AI teaching options feel like real people and it has such a large variety of content that I don’t even use any other language learning apps anymore. Gives you so many interesting ways to practice and learn new terms and from your mistakes through the live classes and also review. It really is the only app like it on the App Store today.
