### 4/5 — More controls please

*2026-08-13*

I really like the speech and listening aspect of this app. It would be really useful to allow the user to control the speed of progress, ie. control when we can jump ahead to the next phrase during a session, or back arrow to allow going back to the previous sentence. Some phrases require less time but other more difficult ones require more. This will vary between people. Currently the timing is too inflexible. Also pause needs to be just a real pause and not repeating the whole phrase again. This would make it so much more user friendly.

### 3/5 — Efficace mais...

*2026-08-13*

L'application est plutôt pas mal. Pour moi lalnahue étudiée est le Grec Moderne : efficace....mais chiant.

### 2/5 — Problem with the Placement Test

*2026-07-25*

I took the French placement test twice and I clearly answered the B2 high-level question correctly, the both time it ended up placing me in A1 low!! Can’t use it.

### 3/5 — Fix bugs

*2026-06-28*

Yo developers, use the app by yourself and fix bugs

### 4/5 — 悪くないが高すぎる

*2026-04-24*

台湾華語会話フレーズ学習アプリ。ひたすら例文を発音反復演習するので会話学習にはとても効果的ではあるが、内容の割にサブスクが高すぎる。台湾華語会話学習アプリではこれしか選択肢ないのか。

### 2/5 — Ridiculous concept. Does not work

*2026-03-01, version 2.9.2*

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat-waste of time and money- not even clear audio.

### 3/5 — Unübersichtlich

*2025-11-08*

### 2/5 — I want to pay for this app

*2025-11-01, version 2.9.2*

This app has a lot of promise and is probably much more worth your time than Duolingo and other apps.

But I’m currently not for a few reasons.
- very buggy, a lot of hanging
- especially when you are in offline mode
- To switch levels, you have to contact support?? (unless you retake the placement test)
-no ability to pause and restart an audio-only session with system buttons (like you would with music, or other language learning apps)
- no way to indicate you know something or not. Maybe I’m wrong, and being exposed to it at algorithmically defined intervals is sufficient.
- ux could be improved (explanation of what buttons do, button size, basic things like that)
- has to load each word during a new session instead of just preloading a 5 word session which makes it stop frequently if you don’t have good service
- can’t go back or forward so if I’m on listening-only mode and I want to ❤️ a word I have to scramble to do it in a few seconds otherwise I won’t be able to without more inconvenience

The most recent update was 8 months ago, which gives me pause. I’m welcome to have my mind changed.

If anyone from this app wants to address this I’ll happily subscribe.

### 2/5 — The cost

*2025-08-31*

Looks good but 300 a year is too much, premier is 300 and basic 150 but doesnt show what you get for twice the costs

### 2/5 — Décevant

*2025-07-06*

### 2/5 — Boring

*2025-06-18*

Very unsatisfying even compared to just anki grinding

### 3/5 — Good. Wrong translations.

*2025-02-22, version 2.9.1*

This app is well laid out and has great settings to modify your learning. However, the Italian translations are wrong. Some are only slightly off. For example, it gives the English “you have” and uses the Italian “Ha” instead of “Hai”. So you are actually practicing “he has”. I really wanted an app like this but can’t practice incorrect translations.

### 2/5 — Add some features

*2025-01-19, version 2.9.1*

Hi. I like the app, but some expressions are unpleasant to me, like "I have a lump here". This phrase feels like a repetitive mantra. If it were possible to delete certain expressions, that would be great. I would then be willing to subscribe.

It would also be helpful if I could mark phrases I already know and don't need to learn. Additionally, it would be awesome to have a feature that randomly repeats learned expressions to help me retain them.

Thank you.

### 2/5 — Great content, terrible app

*2025-01-07, version 2.9.1*

I've been using Glossika for a few weeks now and have very mixed feelings about it. I think the Glossika approach to language study is very useful for me and plan to stick with it, but for the price I feel they've delivered a very sub-standard app and user experience. It is a constant frustration to use the app on an iPhone.

Sometimes I have to restart the app because there is no sound. It doesn't pause when I press the pause button on my Airpods or take them out. Sometimes it fails to stop, or even alert me, when I've reached my daily goal. And so on...

The default settings also seem less than optimal, I had to do a lot of fiddling to get things to work in a way that made sense to me. (Adjusting the pauses, which language is played first, etc.) However, I could never get "full practice mode" to work properly for my target language: Hindi. Even when I type text perfectly in Devanagari it sometimes still fails to acknowledge that it is correct. (I think it should allow me to mix transcription and Devanagari, especially for writing names.)

Finally, in listening only mode it is unable to tell how well you know each sentence, so it can't really used proper spaced repetition methods. It would be useful if it let you manually rate how well you know each sentence after each review session, so that it could adjust the spaced repetition algorithm accordingly.

For all of these reasons I can only give the app three stars, though if I was rating the content and overall approach separately from the UX, it would be rated much higher.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t work offline

*2024-12-11*

Glossika is a good learning resource for language output and pronunciation but it doesn’t work if you are offline, even if you’ve downloaded exercises

### 3/5 — Super geile App ABER

*2024-12-04*

also ich finde dir app toll, auch um satzstrukturen zu lernen topp
Die Idee wirklich klasse und habe wirklich das gefühl dadurch spreche ich deutlich flüssiger und verstehe mehr

Jetzt die 2 ABERS

1. es gibt viel zu viele sätze meiner meinung über gesundheitssystem, krankheit, aspirin, doktor etc und das nervt mich persönlich schon extrem
Will ja nicht 1000 mal

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Extremely buggy

*2026-03-06, version 2.9.2*

Even the cancel subscription button is broken. Very sloppy product.

### 1/5 — WRONG TRANSLATIONS

*2026-02-14*

Vietnamese translations are straight up incorrect

### 1/5 — Not really a important language learning

*2026-02-14, version 2.9.2*

I’m learning random sentence, like I wanna learn about how to interact with other people, in schools and places, but all it gives is “She doesn’t go to bed” or “she has” and won’t let me go back, why not make a dictionary section if you’re gonna teach me random words?

### 1/5 — Total daneben

*2026-02-08*

Was soll man von einer Sprach App halten wenn das erste Wort, dass man lernt „verschwinde“ ist. Warum lernt man nicht alltagstaugliche Särze wie zum Beispiel „hallo wie geht es dir“ oder „schön, dich kennenzulernen“ usw. Demnach App wieder gelöscht.

### 1/5 — Can’t cancel subscription

*2026-01-15, version 2.9.2*

I can’t cancel the subscription!!! The button is unresponsive

### 1/5 — I do wish I could attach an image

*2025-11-30, version 2.9.2*

Hopefully the app works for you flawlessly cause you ain't getting in touch with anyone! $400 per year

### 1/5 — Do not subscribe

*2025-11-22, version 2.9.2*

They offer a free trial period and then charge your credit card without warning.

### 1/5 — Bad faith cancellation system

*2025-11-03, version 2.9.2*

The app worked fine, but when it came time to cancel, it was clear the system is designed to simply frustrate any effort to cancel. I began online and was told I had to switch to the app to cancel. I tried to cancel in the app, and after it asked me for the third time if I was sure, the “yes, cancel” button would not work and was simply stuck. I had to go back online to ask for help and was told that since all of these efforts had failed I would need to cancel from my device settings - because Glossika had NO ABILITY to allow me to cancel.

### 1/5 — Almost no content

*2025-08-04, version 2.9.1*

This app barely has content. At the end of the course it’s random advanced sentences that could have been picked from any book. What I mean is that it’s not a well-thought out app designed to make you progress. It doesn’t give you advanced but natural vocabulary.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2024-12-18, version 2.9.0*

This is the worst app I have ever used. They repeat 5 useless phrases- here were the first 5 that was repeated: 1 you’re as fit as a fiddle. 2 stop bellyaching3 this way is really up 4 we cannot get here 5 where can I stand totally useless sentences- nobody speaks like this. Totally unrealistic and ODD

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Gets me to be consistent

*2026-03-14, version 2.9.3*

I love this method because it's exactly what I needed to be consistent. HOT TIP: DONT TAKE THE EXAM EVEN IF YOU KNOW THE LANGUAGE ALREADY.

I wanted something speech-only that was easy to start. Will this make me fluent? Obviously no, it must be paired with other language tools just like any other language tool, but I can do this while getting ready in the morning or going on walks or on my commute. I'm doing Spanish and my boyfriend is doing Cantonese, and he's actually gotten so good at this difficult language in one year, he was making sentences while we were talking to my relatives! And he sounds so accurate.

Could there be more features? Yes. But I am happy the most that this lets me be consistent which is the most important part of language learning. I think this is the best used after a little bit of instruction such as using Pimsleur Cantonese in my boyfriends case or my public school Spanish learning in my case.

### 5/5 — Once you figure the settings out it works

*2025-12-13, version 2.9.2*

Changing my review from 1 to 5. Had some issues that were amplified by the AI BS general support and lack of FAQs and support explanations of the settings.

Sent a rant to the support group that explained some of the problems and received a reply from a real person and began a useful conversation.

The real tech support person found some settings to change and that prompted me to look at the issues from a new perspective and help get the app working the way I wanted. I wanted to emphasize pronunciation and that is possible if the app is configured correctly.

IMO, the settings are overly complicated and the explanations and FAQs are non-responsive and mostly nonexistent. The AI first line response serves only to discourage and piss off new users, which explains the low scores on usefulness. But if you persist you may well find how to make the app useful for you.

### 5/5 — My Favorite Language Learning App

*2025-01-15, version 2.9.1*

Update: I wanted to come and update my review after a year of using it. No other app has such a quality Irish course, and pairing this with other resources has been fantastic. The heavy emphasis on native pronunciations is my favorite, especially with my language of choice. Their customer service is always on top of it, and I can’t wait for another year with Glossika!

A week into the free trial I was sitting in my car repeating random Irish phrases that had been stuck in my head, and that’s when I realized I needed to get the subscription. I wasn’t stuck with one off words, I got to remember whole sentences. Pair that with studying grammar off the app, and suddenly I can break down the sentences and make my own. The only issue I have is the voice that reads the sentences. Incredible pronunciation and isn’t some botched robot you’d find on Duolingo, but it might be too native. If I was teaching someone the english sentence “I want to go to the store”, I would pronounce each word clearly. Not “I wanna go to the store.” In my natural speed. But I feel like this is how every sentence is presented to me. They skip words and blend their words together as native speakers do, but as a beginner it’s intimidating to try to pronounce. I don’t have time to practice the correct sounds when I’m flying through the sentence. And I’m not sure exactly what parts of words we’re skipping over. This feels like the instruction I’d get after I learned the language and was interacting with native speakers. The harder the sentence gets, the less I find myself repeating them on my own. Good app and good course, I would like to see it more beginner friendly though.

### 5/5 — 158 days later

*2024-11-28*

158 days ago, I didn’t know anything in French. I’ve come back from France and while I’m still a beginner, was able to have small conversations and understand a lot more than I expected.

I have bought nine different courses in French, so this isn’t just love at first sight.

I really like how this has changed my language learning experience.

### 5/5 — One of a kind

*2024-11-20*

Glossika is truly one of a kind. It’s brutally effective, incredibly versatile, and perfect for go-getters serious about language learning. The app adapts to your needs—you can use listening mode, practice speaking, or type along, making the method itself as flexible as your lifestyle. Basically, Glossika is like Pimsleur on overdrive—an amped-up, next-level approach to language learning. It takes everything great about structured audio learning and multiplies its effectiveness and flexibility tenfold.

### 5/5 — A Powerful Tool

*2024-09-26, version 2.8.7*

This really works. I used a variety of tools to prepare for my recent trip to Italy, but it was Glossika that proved the most valuable. I found myself using grammatical constructions and key phrases intuitively that I had encountered on the app. Repetition truly is the trick. The sentences are artfully selected to expose you to the most high frequency vocabulary and syntax. I will double down on my use from now on.

### 5/5 — Application très cool

*2024-07-19*

Un merci spécial pour le bon travail sans connexion Internet

### 5/5 — Highly Recommended

*2024-07-01*

It’s hard to find Thai Language resources between absolute beginner and advanced. Glossika fills that gap very well. I’m 400 sentences in and it seems much more effective than other kinds of study.

The app is a bit more complicated to use than it should be and overall usability could be improved (and has been since I’ve been using it). For example, I set a goal to review 100 sentences a day, but my spaced repetition list usually only has half of that number on it. So to reach my goal I need to decide what else to review each time, and that seems inefficient.

Even though it feels like a work in progress, this app is definitely five stars because of the value it brings to my study.

### 5/5 — 流畅的语言练习

*2024-06-01*

使用快两年了，优点包括：
1、全程可以无屏幕交互进行流畅的语言练习
2、练习语句覆盖了丰富的场景，包括很多没有看到的地道表达

### 5/5 — The only way to learn a new language

*2024-05-15, version 2.7.5*

Trying to learn Cantonese and after 2 weeks my instructor asked me if I had lived in Hong Kong.

Fix the goal day streaks from being completely broken.
