I bought the full version of Glossy. I love being able to see all of my colors and one place, dip jars don’t always reflect the true color of the powder. My one critique of the app is this: from the home screen, I wish I could move the tiles around so I could group colors together. Seems like once I enter my colors that’s the order they stay in. I wish I could drag and drop them around the homepage. It’s that possible? ### 4/5 — Best polish organizer app by far *2023-12-01* First, let me say I love Glossy! The ease is so nice. I have a couple thoughts on somethings that would make it be even better! It would be great if we could sort our list of polishes by color or by name or custom, so we can see them in order, not just by date added. I have a huge collection, and the ability to sort my polishes in alphabetical order would be very helpful. Particularly since I’m not really doing a lookbook. If you can update the app to add alphabetical sorting I’ll come back and give you a five star rating. ### 4/5 — Great app but just simple suggestion *2022-06-21, version 1.0* I love this app to organize my dip powders. All I ask for though is to have a Sort By feature for A-Z so my OCD can see the colors I own in alphabetical order! ### 4/5 — Good but frustrating at the same time *2022-04-11* Let me start by saying the actual gallery and adding the photos and names and collections is great. I have zero complaints on that end. Where I have an issue is the Lookbook. At first I thought, wow this will be a really great way to put designs and colors together all in one place. Until I realized that when you want to add a look to the lookbook, you can’t actually pull from the photos in the app that you’ve already loaded. Instead, the main photo has to be pulled from your camera roll or other album within the phone. Then you can tag the colors used from stuff within the glossy app. I’d love for the lookbook to allow you to actually put color combinations together instead of adding a pic after you’ve done the job. At this point I still have to go out to a collage app to put together colors I want to use on a mani. So I’m back to having multiple apps which defeats the purpose. ### 4/5 — Need to sort alphabetically! *2021-11-23, version 1.0* Would have been 5 stars if I had the ability to sort my collection alphabetically. ### 4/5 — Backup is a nightmare, but I made instructions *2021-10-10, version 1.0* I absolutely love this app, I have over 200 polishes and constantly buy more, this ensures that I don't buy the same color. But figuring out how to back up was a nightmare. First, i'd like to mention that the developer and email associated in the description is no longer valid and the developer is unreachable. And on the app there is a button to click for instructions on how to back it up and the website is no longer valid. I figured out how to do so and wanted to share with whoever needs to backup their app as well. First you will need a computer (i only know MacBook instructions) Connect your phone and go into "Finder" and click on the phone device and you will see "File" go to that and you will see the Glossy app Side note, you cant see the glossy file on your iPhone's file app click the down arrow/carrot and wait a bit until a folder appears under the app. The folder will be the last backup. You need to move or copy that folder into a location on the computer (I moved mine to documents) On the new device, download the glossy app and open it, then hook it to the same computer Then repeat the steps Finder>Device>Click the new device>Files Make sure glossy is in the files. Then open another Finder page and on the extra page, go to the location you moved/copied the backup file to. Drag the back up file to the "Glossy" icon name, it may take a while to show it moved over, so only move it once If you keep trying to move it because it looks like it didn't go into the app file, then it'll end up crashing the app With the backup file moved, click the "Restore Backup" on the glossy app on your new device. And the app should repopulate all your data This process is so complicated because apple discontinued the ITunes app, and so you cannot access the file sharing anymore through iTunes. So the instructions on the app are very dated, so here are some 2021 instructions to people who still have or just got the app. I hope this helps! ### 4/5 — So much fun *2020-11-07* I’m really enjoying this app. I have a lot of nail polish, and this is a good way to catalogue it. It also helps me narrow down my color palette, as I tend to buy variations on the same color again and again. My only wish is that it would sync with the cloud. I wanted to do my data entry on my iPad rather than my phone, and couldn’t get it to sync. That would be a huge improvement. Other than that, I have no complaints. ### 4/5 — The best I’ve found *2020-09-08* I’ve downloaded a few nail apps and so far this is the best one! Doesn’t feel cheap and is easy to use. I like how you can categorize it all by glitters, shimmers etc and also you have an album for your past manis. Today it won't let me attach photos. The screen blocks out and the program locks up. I have written to Support twice and not received an answers. The concept is great but the execution is terrible. I guess I will have to delete the app and find something else. ### 1/5 — Purchased full unlock, but app crashes when trying to add an item *2023-01-25* Based on entering the five free polishes, I was very happy with the app and excited to enter my collection. I purchased the Full Unlock and was charged. The app crashes immediately upon trying to enter a new color. HELP! ### 3/5 — Helps Me Organize My Large Collection *2022-07-19* I just started using this app, and am finding it helpful in sorting through my growing collection. I keep a physical journal of my collection, but it’s nice to have it on my phone as well since I’m not carrying my journal out and about. My only complaint is that the only way to sort the gallery is by date added (newest to oldest/oldest to newest). I would prefer to organize my collection by color since that’s how they are organized on my shelves and in my journal. I like seeing a color gradient as I scroll. I have another app that lets me organize it this way but I like that on Glossy, I can add the different finishes and my own color categories (ex: coral, pink, and orange are totally different categories to me). If there are updates, I would love to have organize by color as an option without having to filter out one color at a time to see all the polishes in that category. Better yet if I can arrange the order myself so I can place them into a nice gradient to match my shelves. ### 3/5 — Feedback *2022-04-05* Tried to use the app feedback feature, but couldn’t send. Would love to be able to sort alphabetically. Also, if a photo in the look book could be assigned a category. Then you could sort by category. Like, if you create a brand with a misspelling or duplicate a color, it can’t be removed or edited. My biggest issue with it is that you can only sort by newest to oldest or oldest to newest. Well this app is pure GENIUS! It helps me keep an up to date inventory and to attach photos of my own manicures with the shade swatch as well as inspo pictures. It’s the best of EVERYTHING! A couple of updates that would be awesome: •ability to move colors and photos to stay organized •ability to add more photo folders ### 5/5 — Great for keeping track of my dip powders *2021-01-10, version 1.0* I’m loving this app! I looked at a few options for logging my dip collection and this one was my favorite. Pros: -easy to use, self explanatory, and hasn’t crashed on me. I uploaded my whole collection without any issues -can take/choose up to four pictures for each color -can tag the brand, finish, and color family (and can create custom tags for these categories) which makes it easy to filter and sort -can add notes for each color -“lookbook” for storing your pictures or inspo pictures. My favorite thing about this is you can tag what colors were used, so it links up to the colors in the library and will display with your colors as well. Cons (more like suggestions for improvement): -being able to change the view would be nice (ie a list or grid view, and different thumbnail sizes so I could see more or less at once) -being able to create “albums” so I could create separate collections (like one for powders, one for polishes, one for stamping plates). I think I’ll get around this by creating a tag in the finish for plates etc so I’ll be able to filter it but it would be nice display wise. -“albums” would also be nice in the lookbook so I could separate my pictures and Inspo pictures. I get around this by titling them so I can at least filter/search -I wish the lookbook allowed you to put multiple pictures under one image since I usually take a few pics of each of my manis. Would keep it neater looking and make it easier so I don’t have to tag each picture separately. -It would also be nice if I could change the order of things in the list. Right now it looks ok because I’ve uploaded everything in the order I want, but when I get something new I want to be able to move it to where it belongs in the rainbow ### 5/5 — It's great! I appreciate that if you don’t see your polish’s brand, finish, or color, you can add one. Really appreciate the filter tool as well, and the lookbook is probably my favorite part. You can do a detail record and tagged in photos of your nail polishes . The lookbook is great, I can keep track of my nail art (DIY) and can have multiple polishes to go with one manicure art.
