## Newest reviews (11 of 32)

### 2/5 — App function/speed improved

*2024-06-13, version 9.2.6*

The functioning of the App has improved.
It is just a great pity that GL appears to not approve of debate as the majority of the articles that are even slightly controversial or contentious have their Comments turned off, particularly if criticism of local authorities could be reported. It’s all very “1984”ish.

### 2/5 — Version 9.2 crashes app when scrolling

*2023-12-16, version 9.2.0*

Since the update to version 9.2 this app crashes when scrolling within an article on iPad. This needs fixing as constantly having to relaunch the app to read the news is beyond frustrating.

### 2/5 — App improvements

*2023-10-22, version 9.1.0*

Whilst the app looks better. It still needs a tweak. Stories replicated across headings. No link to notifications just direction to home page. Then can’t normally find the story that notifications alerted me to. As far as the “live” in the title stories ect are 24 hours behind the times.

### 2/5 — Not much local news Very True

*2021-12-06, version 7.1.2*

Not actually much local news which is what the site is all about ?
Site not updated often especially the weekend might be better listening to local BBC radio

### 2/5 — Often hangs on comments page

*2021-08-07, version 7.0.4*

App has got faster at loading ad content so gets in the way less than it used to but usually hangs on comments page.
As for the content, well that’s a different matter. So sad that a platform to deliver so much varied local content has become a laughing stock in Gloucestershire due to its inane and poorly written articles.

### 3/5 — Sensational reporting

*2020-07-26, version 6.3.1*

How can you report Coronavirus rate ‘down’ and in the next sentence report ‘could be going up’ it’s either up or down.
You are no better than any of the press at present, ‘ sensationalism’ is all you are capable of.
Let’s have less pessimism and more optimism, you can’t even get the weather right.
John

### 1/5 — Drains battery

*2020-06-06, version 6.3.1*

Recently the app has started draining my battery. Yesterday is consumed 44% and I had only used it for less than 30 minutes. Background activity showed it was I use for over 12 hours despite me disabling background activity for this app. To reduce costs of developing and maintaining the app, can I suggest you publish your articles in the Apple News - it supports ads as well.

### 1/5 — Censorship

*2020-05-10, version 6.2.9*

Your account will be censured if you write something they don’t agree with, you will be unable to make a comment and get a on screen message which reads something like “woah! You’re using words which we don’t allow”. If you set up a new login you can write and publish the exact same comment without any trouble. That’s why you see user names change on here quite frequently. Either allow freedom of speech or disable comments altogether.

### 1/5 — Poor quality

*2020-02-16, version 6.2.6*

Advertising everywhere, just poor quality

### 1/5 — Cut and paste

*2020-01-30, version 6.2.5*

Shocking cut and paste website.
No real journalism.

### 1/5 — Gloucestershire live

*2019-07-26, version 6.0.0*

Badly written, repetitive, child like

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Time to delete this app

*2026-09-03, version 26.9.17*

Gloucestershire live has decided to start charging people to read the news. Another company for me to boycott, app deleted - revenue lost for this company and its dirty practices. Refuse to look at the ads, refuse to pay. Doesn’t bother me one bit. Good riddance

### 1/5 — Paywall

*2026-08-18, version 26.8.15*

It has now unfortunately been introduced by Reach that there are now limits on the amount of articles you can read, with payments now being almost obligatory.

This is pretty sad as though the reporting and format is substandard, Glos live was one of the few sources for local glos news. Sign of the times.

### 1/5 — Share your data with the world

*2024-12-18, version 9.4.0*

On first install I looked at the privacy and cookie consent settings and was amazed at the number of companies you will be sharing data with by pressing ‘accept all’ - literally hundreds of vendors! The data shared with most may only be non-personally identifiable but I felt it was grossly intrusive so deleted the app straight away.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2023-09-15, version 8.3.5*

Beware - app now asking to confirm cookies - no easy way to opt out of all of what they call légitima interest of which there are tens of dozens

Delete the app and I’ll just use safari which blocks them for me

Not much news anyway - just sensationalist and badly written

### 1/5 — At least it’s free

*2022-06-01, version 8.0.1*

Seems to require updating the app weekly, journalism is fairly poor, weather predictions are comical.

### 1/5 — UNAVAILABLE

*2022-03-23, version 7.1.6*

This is incompatible with IOS 15.2 please make it compatible

### 1/5 — Too hard to reject cookies

*2021-11-25, version 7.1.2*

Too many buttons to click to reject cookies. Stopped using and deleted app.

### 1/5 — Bad user experience

*2020-10-11, version 6.4.3*

Absolutely horrific site to browse. Constantly bombarded with advertising to the point you can’t read the narrative. Then when you do get through the reports are disappointing and poorly presented

### 1/5 — Good app but widget doesn’t work

*2020-10-01, version 6.4.3*

The widget facility on the latest update doesn’t work! Just get a blank screen. Other than that it’s a good app.

### 1/5 — Appaling ‘journalism’

*2020-08-26, version 6.3.3*

Obsessed with the most boring things and B list celebs.
How many times can you report on a B52 flying over? They even tell you what helicopters sound like ”Wokka-wokka”.
Keen to get freebie food by giving dazzling restaurant reviews and if Nick Knowles is anywhere near they nearly pass out with excitement.
Cut and paste at its best with hardly any real work done.
Don’t even start me on the spelling and grammar.
Says it all.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantaboulous newspaer

*2021-12-17, version 7.1.2*

One of the best newspaer in the world. So informative and caring about community

### 5/5 — Good news

*2020-07-20, version 6.3.1*

A good app to keep us up to date with local and national news.

### 5/5 — Great information app

*2019-09-05, version 6.0.7*

This is a smashing app if you live in Gloucestershire or have an interest from afar its so good....up to the minute news, views and articles and events and entertainment.

### 5/5 — Gloucester news

*2019-08-09, version 6.0.1*

Good
Found contents very interesting.
All the adverts are disconcerting
Find they are too intrusive

### 5/5 — Excellent - informative

*2019-03-06, version 4.2.5*

Title above says it all

### 4/5 — App will not refresh daily

*2024-09-27, version 9.3.4*

In settings I open Gloucestershire Live app and the toggle switch is in app refresh position but is slightly greyed out, so the only way I can daily refresh content is to go into the App Store and open it up from there, any ideas how to overcome this.

### 4/5 — v9.1.0 Improves App

*2023-10-18, version 9.1.0*

Much improved update. Just need the ability to swipe between topics in My News and to move / delete the seemingly fixed Saved Articles tab.

### 3/5 — Not happy

*2024-05-13, version 9.2.5*

Why does one have to select “continue to Gloucester news” half way down page when one has already selected Gloucester news?

### 3/5 — Widget

*2024-03-13, version 9.2.3*

Hello. I really like the app. However The widget for Gloucestershire news appears to have stopped working. Has it been withdrawn?

### 3/5 — Browser

*2020-09-12, version 6.4.1*

What’s actually appears to be happening is the notification opens the app, and then it transfers you to the browser.

Most notifications are doing this.
