The problem I am facing is many things are locked out due to the device not being updated. But the device won’t update I even disabled security after monitoring DNS request for blocked request and still can’t update. I can use the app and control my device but some features are locked out because of lack of ability to update from v5 to v7 for my device. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bad app *2026-06-25, version 3.1.2* I couldn’t get the app to send a verification code, so I guess I won’t be using the app. (Yes, I checked junk and spam.) ### 1/5 — Worked great for about two weeks *2026-02-20, version 3.1.0* I don’t know if it’s the light or the app but after about two weeks of having both the light is not working on the timer anymore. It’s set in the app, it shows the correct time to turn on and off. Some days i wake up and it’s on and most days it is not. I have to open the app and manually turn it on which means it isn’t starting at the desired time I need it to be on my plants. Fix this bug or I’m returning the light since I just bought it ### 1/5 — Aggravating *2025-04-19, version 2.13* This is truly the most ever aggravating app I have ever used. It only works about 5% of the time. I delete it and re-add it constantly but it still says I need to connect the device to use it and it is already connected! ### 1/5 — App is Atrocious *2025-04-11, version 2.13* I honestly might return this product because of how bad it is. Lights keep running incorrectly, they turn on and off randomly, sometimes the app cant even connect to the app. Its an issue daily! Unfortunately it is let down by an app designed by high-schoolers. Owners/management needs to fire the developers and bring on better talent. Because this experience will ruin their brand. Support is nonexistent, settings do not make sense (bad translation), things like aquarium light timers are completely nonsensical and not user friendly. There should be a 12 hour mode for US customers. Typical Chinese developer sloppiness/lack of attention to detail. It’s a shame really. ### 1/5 — Won’t connect *2024-08-06, version 2.0.8* I’ve had my light for 49 days and now the app won’t load up. I can’t even contact customer support for it. 100% don’t buy this. ### 1/5 — Well built light, useless app *2024-02-05, version 1.0.9* Very limited app featu set given the advertised capabilities of these aquarium light units. Wi-Fi network selection does not work - had to manually enter 4 times to get connected. Many settings required multiple attempts to set. Don’t know why any eventually worked. 4 zones don’t work with the automated schedule. Had to exit the app twice to get change from C to F to happen. App started by showing tank temperature of 204C!! Took 15 minutes to stabilize at a temperature that wouldn’t instantly poach the fish! App links to external documentation that advertises non existent features like controlling heaters/etc. Sad that such a well built and very expensive light unit is spoiled by a terrible app. Manufacturer needs to rebuild this app from the ground up and test it thoroughly. ### 2/5 — Needs better customer support for the app! *2024-08-05, version 2.0.8* The app is not working no contact for support other than an email with never a reply I can’t use y light at all I updated app the light just blinks blue again no contact to support so a waist of money I assume.. I expect problems with any equipment operated by a phone to have issues with it’s application but without. Price and without communication your corals may not appreciate however long it takes you to get a new light…. ### 3/5 — Great in terms of lighting control. Lacking in temperature monitoring *2025-05-08, version 2.13* This app is great for controlling your lights, it is straightforward and the connectivity is great. The temperature monitoring is a really nice to have feature but it is lacking in functionality. Setting the temperature alerts is very tricky. You have to move a slider and it doesn’t seem to stay where you want it. I try to set it to 72 degrees and when I release my finger it jumps to 71.8 or 72.2. It would be so much easier if you could type in a value instead. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Works well! *2026-04-30, version 3.1.2* I have two of the 48w lights and as long as you keep your phone and your app updated, they are awesome. The team was extremely patient and professional. I originally purchased their aquarium light, and now l've also bought a home lamp. They've added so many new features compared to before. The app makes changing settings quick and easy. I think the users having issues may be the “low tech” type. Had one issue with my user profile and support was quick to respond and resolve via email. I look forward to the future of this app. ### 4/5 — A useful app for checking light levels generally and good for controlling the later “smart models” *2026-02-27, version 3.1.0* This app comes into its own with the latest smart lamps - a database of plants, the ability to measure light levels and fine tuning of on-off times. These were good lamps without the app, but with the app, they really, er, shine. ### 4/5 — Network issues *2025-12-12, version 3.02* I have 3 of the saltwater lights. I had 2 and it worked perfectly. I could connect to both without any issues. Now that I have my 3rd, one is always disconnected from the app and I have to power cycle all the lights for them to all connect. ### 4/5 — This is what I was looking for *2025-06-07, version 2.13* App works as I expected, connected super easy. I love the ability to change color channels individually over an app. I like the idea that they’ll add more preset animated scenes in the future. One thing I’d change: Wish I could do more than 7 auto pro timer time points. But it’s hardly an issue, I just have more ideas than what it allows me to do. ### 4/5 — Works well *2024-08-12, version 2.0.8* I like the app but it isn’t very intuitive. I like that I can build my own scenes, and the scenes that come with the app are cool, but are they good for plant growth? I just use the basic app and set it for plant growth copying the spectrum from the first menu and set it for 12 hours.
