## What is Gnash?

Gnash helps you quit smoking, stop vaping, or ditch snus — and actually enjoy the process. No streaks to protect. No guilt when you slip. Just a growing pile of balls that makes your progress feel real.

GRADUAL REDUCTION
Set your pace and let the timer guide each break. Hit your target, and the next one grows a little longer. No pressure, no shame — just gradual change that compounds over time.

VISUAL PROGRESS
Every break spawns a ball. Hit your target and it turns green. Miss it, and it's gray — no judgment, just honesty. They pile up, bounce around, and respond to your touch. Tilt your phone and they tumble. It's your effort made physical — something you can poke, prod, and watch grow.

BUILD AWARENESS
Track nicotine use in a few taps. Reflect on difficulty, what triggered you, and what helped. Add notes for anything you want to remember. Patterns emerge over time — without judgment or streaks.

STAY ON TRACK
Follow your break timer from the Lock Screen, Home Screen, Dynamic Island, or Control Center. Live Activities keep your progress visible without opening the app.

COMPLETELY PRIVATE
No accounts. No data collection. Everything stays on your device and works fully offline. iCloud Backup available for peace of mind.

### 4/5 — Can’t add custom triggers

*2026-02-20*

There seems to be a bug that prevents me from being able to add custom triggers. Other than that, I really appreciate the simplicity of the gamification. Simple, but so far, it seems to be helping. Here’s to seeing where this goes.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review and bringing this to my attention! And those kind words about the simplicity. 😇

I’m so sorry for any trouble with the custom triggers. I’ve been putting in a lot of effort to fix that, along with a few other things. The next update will be much better tested and more reliable.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2026-02-14*

Absolutely love this app and I’ve been looking for something like it for months! Actually free and is nicotine cessation friendly. One feature I’d like is for push notifications. Other than that thank you for this app!

**Developer response:** This means a lot—thank you 🙌

I’m so happy to hear that the method works and brings you value!

The next update will include many refinements, bug fixes, and improvements to the existing features. I’m still working on finalizing it.

However, the update after that will include something better than push notifications to help guide nicotine use outside the app, which I haven’t seen any other quit apps provide. I’m really excited to hear what you think.

Feel free to reach out if you’d like to beta test the new features.

Thanks again for the kind words and for being here early. It truly helps.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-04-07

Quitting is easier when you're not doing it alone. Say hi to Hangout — a new community space inside Gnash where you can share progress, swap tips, and root for others on the same path. No accounts, no tracking, completely anonymous.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-03-06

Gnash has been redesigned from the ground up for iOS 26. New ways to stay on track, a smarter approach to quitting, and a few things we couldn't wait to remove.

New features
Your break timer now lives across iOS — Live Activity, Dynamic Island, Lock Screen, Home Screen, Control Center, and Apple Watch. Log without opening the app. Pick a pace between 1–5% and every break you complete gets a little longer. Requires Gnash Pro.

Simplified experiences
Your balls accumulate over time, up to 100, and the log remembers the rest. Logging is faster and more useful — rate difficulty, capture what happened, add a note, all inline. Onboarding is shorter and gets out of your way. Anonymous feedback is now built into the app, no email needed.

What's gone
Insights. Streaks. And... bugs! None of them were earning their place. We're rethinking what smart progress looks like in Gnash — and we'll bring something better when it's ready.

### 1.2 — 2026-03-06

Fully refreshed design, completely rebuilt for iOS 26 with Liquid Glass among many other new things:
 • Live Activity & Dynamic Island — see your break timer without opening the app *
 • Lock Screen, Home Screen & Control Center widgets *
 • Log from Spotlight, Control Center, or Lock Screen *
 • Apple Watch Smart Stack support *
 • Redesigned onboarding
 • Smarter logging with difficulty, factors, and notes
 • Gradual break growth that adapts to your pace
 • And much more

* Requires Gnash Pro subscription

### 1.1.1 — 2026-01-15

Plot twist: the insights graph was lying to you. Green and black balls weren't being counted correctly, so your stats were off. We fixed it. Also, Gnash now speaks 8 languages fluently, we gave you a shiny new app icon, and we made the app faster and less annoying to use. Real talk: thank you for trusting Gnash with something this important. We don't take that lightly.

### 1.1 — 2026-01-13

More flexibility, less pressure
  · Edit log times whenever you want—your timeline, your way
  · Start your quit plan today or schedule it for later
  · Not ready yet? Log with calm gray balls (zero judgment)

Ball got an upgrade
  · Haptic feedback when balls collide (it feels amazing)
  · Eyes now track which way they're falling
  · Your physics simulation just got personality

Warmer, clearer experience
  · New color palette that's easier on the eyes
  · Visual onboarding—see how it works in 30 seconds
  · Settings finally arrived: edit quit dates, toggle haptics, manage data

Now speaks your language
  · Added German, Spanish, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Italian, and French
  · Voice Control support—everyone should experience Ball's world

Plus the usual: bug fixes, performance boosts, and things Ball won't admit broke in the first place.

Your move.
 — Caglar
