### 2/5 — Loved for years - disappointed with new update

*2026-07-12*

I’ve been using Go Jauntly for years now and really loved it - especially for planning a route or going on a round trip. I have just gone on it to plan a long walk and discovered that they’ve made the round trip feature a premium feature above 3 miles. I’m really disappointed with this change because it means that I won’t be using Go Jauntly to plan any routes round where I live as I know my area well enough to not need a device to tell me what a 3 mile walk is. Unfortunately I will be getting rid of the app and will try other route planning methods.

**Developer response:** Hi ILikeLongWalks. Thanks for your message. We are a small self-funded start-up and we have to keep a roof over our heads and feed our families. The App is free and most of the features are free. We do everything we can to keep as much free as possible and even have an offer live which means premium is now only £14.99 per year which is about 4 pence per day. We don't sell your personal data, we don't have loads of advertising. We are not owned by billionaire tech bros. It takes a huge amount of effort to build an app, keep it running and then to keep innovating so that we can help more people walk. We hope you can understand that this small change to help us to keep the app live and sustainable. Wishing you a lovely day. Thanks GJ x

### 3/5 — Please make reversible routes

*2025-09-22, version 4.8.0*

TFL seem to have given Go Jauntly the deal on mapping the Capital Ring, a great walk. But the route is only provided in one direction, not so great.

### 3/5 — Add option to randomise circular walks

*2025-09-15, version 4.8.0*

Please add option to randomise circular walks e.g., If I select X mile route, it always/ every day shows me exact same route. It would be nicer if we could get a new route offered either via adittional “Randomisation”, “Refresh” buttons ot maybe even a toggle for users who would want that behaviour by default.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2025-08-05*

The app features many local walks, from shorter to longer hikes. I decided to give it a try on a longer - over 1hr - walk, but I found it difficult and not very helpful. After you press go, there is no navigation, you have to walk either holding your phone and looking at the screen to watch the blue door moving or just keep checking it every few steps, which in my opinion defeats the purpose. I didn’t go to a woodland to look at the screen. Secondly, somewhere in the middle accidentally I closed the the route and couldn’t find it, there is no history and it wouldn’t show me that route even when I searched for nearest walks. Strangely though, the walk was more enjoyable without this app and phone in my hand. I will be uninstalling.

**Developer response:** Hi there, Thanks for your feedback and we're glad to hear that you found a walk that you enjoyed. Some people just use the app for inspiration. So they use the app to find a location and then that's it, they just wander as they wish. Perhaps they check the map only a few times, especially if they are confident walkers. Please note that we adopted a privacy-by-design approach at the start which means we don't follow you step by step and we don't track your every movement like other apps do. Appreciate that's not what you want but that's the reasoning. We do have background restoration enabled though, so the app usually does reopen to where you left off. You can also "save" your walk so you can access it later as well. We're a super small team, there's about 4 of us right now so community feedback is really important so thank you for taking the time. Have a lovely day! GJ x

### 2/5 — No GPX files

*2025-07-23*

Got the subscription for a month for get access to the GPX files for the Capital Circle path in London, but I couldn’t find them in the app. Bummer. This app isn’t the same category as Komoot or Gaia.
If you just want a green walking path from A to B, then this will serve you well.

**Developer response:** Hello abeecdeef,
Thanks for your feedback. GPX files are available for our Green Routes only as you found out. We have lots of lovely photo-led guided walks as well. The Capital Ring is the most popular in the app but sorry it wasn't right for you. Have a great day. Thanks GJ!

### 3/5 — Route instructions a bit vague

*2025-04-28, version 4.7.1*

Used this for the first time this weekend. Don’t see anything that would inspire me pay for it, certainly not the price being asked. Scant content for many areas, given this is not a new app and many of the walks are supplied by third parties like TFL for free.

### 3/5 — Walks need updating

*2024-09-16, version 4.5.2*

I love the app but both myself and my son have done a couple of the longer local walks only to end up at a dead end and had to turn back. A couple of walks have also sent us into undergrowth which simply wasn’t passable.

### 4/5 — Like it but not love; needs an apple watch app

*2024-09-13, version 4.5*

To avoid getting lost, I have to constantly check my phone. Voice directions are definitely required, particularly an app for the Apple Watch. In addition, I now have to carry a power bank. Like it, but on the verge of loving it.

### 2/5 — Good if the first route it creates is good.

*2024-08-25, version 4.4.11*

You can make the app regenerate a new route if the one it creates it’s suitable. I live near a main road and also completely empty countryside with many bridleways and public footpaths. The app always uses the main road for routes and I can’t make it use public footpaths, bridleways or quiet roads.

This makes the app near-useless as you only get one chance to make a route, whether it’s safe or not.

### 5/5 — Chris in Barnet

*2024-05-08, version 4.4.7*

Full of great ideas and motivation

### 5/5 — Fantastic motivator

*2024-04-30, version 4.4.5*

Great app to get me out of the house and explore my local area. Routes already created with guidance on times and mileage, aswell as details of every tree en route. Makes you appreciate nature even more. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Amazing free app

*2024-04-13, version 4.4.5*

It will invent me a route for my run through the forest… I just give it my location and a distance and off it goes. Turn by turn directions, even with the least trodden of paths. I can’t quite believe this app is free!

### 5/5 — Family walk to the pub

*2024-03-31, version 4.4.3*

Only went wrong once, which is good for a non map reader, really steep hill but we can roll back down on the way back to our digs for the weekend after a few drinks

### 4/5 — Really good app

*2024-03-17, version 4.4.3*

This is a really good app even if you have the free version! However I’m only giving 4 stars because it would be good if it linked with your Apple Watch which it doesn’t currently do

### 3/5 — Few Hiccups.

*2024-03-04, version 4.4.2*

Phone screen keeps going blank - Frequently Needed to Re centre . Otherwise okay.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — New charges are so insulting

*2026-07-13, version 5.0.0*

I use this app all the time but they’re now charging you if you want a walk route longer than 4km???? It’s incredibly insulting

### 1/5 — Difficult to follow expensive and rubbish

*2025-07-28, version 4.7.6*

D

### 1/5 — Fails in many ways

*2024-07-30*

I used the app. I had to constantly look at the phone. There is no voice announcements there is also nothing on the Apple Watch. It doesn’t even make use of Apples live activities on your Lock Screen. All these ways would allow a pleasant walk. Looking at the unlocked home for the whole trip doesn’t work! On top of that after 53 minutes of the recommended walk I was met by a brick wall. Literally! There was no access to the path it said and I had to walk a long way back and make my own route.

Feedback from the developer is all understandable - “we are a small team” etc etc. Unfortunately the fact is the app is useless in its current state. No on can or wants to walk around holding there unlocked phone for the whole walk. App shouldn’t of gone to the App Store and started taking peoples money until it was at a better stage.

**Developer response:** Hi DJ Barto! Thanks for taking the time to drop us review. As a really very small team and self-funded app, feedback is always welcome and helps us become even better. There's a few things going here mainly that as we're self-funded we haven't been able to make all of the features you want yet. Our roadmap includes audio and widgets for suresies. Sorry that you were met by a brick wall, unfortunately there isn't a reliable footway network in the UK, the data doesn't exist or is loss. Often footpaths get built over or become unwalkable due to weather or weeds. We can provide routes as guidance and our community shares updates with us when things need altering. It's a bit like how the road network works in that people report issues for others. You can do this in-app as well by tapping the 'feedback button'. All the features you've described are free to use and made by us for you to enjoy. Enjoy your future walks! Love from GJ x

### 1/5 — Twenty quid for ONE walk!

*2024-04-04, version 4.4.3*

Wanted to do ONE single charity walk near me, and was told the charity organisers won’t give out the route, the only way to find out the route is to download this app.

The app costs TWENTY POUNDS FOR ONE WALK. Twenty quid for an app I was going to use one single time then delete and never use again (I am not a walker so I have no need for this app).

I don’t understand why they can’t give people say the first three walks for free, then start charging based on how many walks you use.

It’s honestly so gross to charge people who are raising money for charity access to the thing they need to do the fundraiser. The people who made this app have nothing to do with the charity who created the route map so why are they allowed to financially profit from it?

### 1/5 — Badly maintained app is offputting to new users

*2024-01-03*

With the London tube strikes next week, this app was recommended as a way of getting round London.

But the signup process is bizarre and oddly broken. It insists on notifications. I do not let unfamiliar apps notify me. But I couldn't cancel notifications - so I had to accept turning on notifications in the app, and when the system prompt came up I then chose Cncel - because I don't want notifications. I was then stuck at a Jauntly dialog where I couldn't cancel notifications, and I couldn't get the system notifications prompt back. I had to force quit and restart the app.

It gets better. To do anything in the app, you have to sign up and register. Okay, there's a sign-up-by-email option, which asks for your email address.

But when you try to enter your email address, only alphanumeric characters are allowed - no @ at signs or dot periods. And all email addresses contain at signs and periods. So you can't enter an email address. If you select the usual email address prompted above the virtualkeyboard, it never appears - because it contains @ and .

I verified this broken behaviour on both an iPad Air 3 and an SE 3, iOS 17.2.

The level of stupidity shown in the introduction to this app is amazing. How is this company a viable ongoing business?

### 1/5 — Great. If you live in London

*2022-11-04, version 4.2.10*

If not well you’re stuck with a meagre selection. Unfortunately apps like this are more focused with the capital than the rest of the UK.

### 1/5 — Location problem

*2022-02-14, version 4.0.12*

There is no pop-up to allow location services and you cannot manually allow it in settings so I cannot actually use the app. Please fix.

### 1/5 — RUBBISH

*2022-01-11, version 4.0.9*

Won’t let me click ‘allow’ so I can see walks nearby. Huge bug in the application which they have failed to pick up. Jokers.

### 1/5 — Just rediculous

*2021-12-26, version 4.0.8*

Download a free app to look at walks near you. Find a nice walk. Click on “view trial” and then you’re told you need to unlock premium.

Just use google. You can find exactly the same info but for free.

### 1/5 — Rubbish.

*2021-10-31, version 4.0.5*

Tried to register. Declined every user name, even the ones that were just random letters. Wouldn’t let me join via Facebook. Just deleted the app in the end. I’ll look on a map. Much less frustrating.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Finally exploring my own doorstep

*2026-05-11*

Been using this to find local walks and it's genuinely brilliant. The routes feel tried and tested rather than algorithmically cobbled together. Someone's actually walked them and bothered to share them, which makes a real difference when you're navigating somewhere new.

The points of interest are what keep me coming back. I've walked past the same spots for years and had no idea what I was missing. Ancient woodland, hidden viewpoints, bits of local history — it adds a layer to a walk that makes it feel worthwhile rather than just exercise.

Couldn't recommend it more if you want to get outside but have run out of ideas. There's more on your doorstep than you think.

**Developer response:** Hi DJ Rol, thank you so much for such a wonderful and wholesome review. It means so much to our little team. We're so pleased you've been able to discover new places and spaces and had fun along the way! That's everything we hoped and dreamed of when we created the app. May every walk be worthwhile for you. Thank you again! x

### 5/5 — Life changing

This app is so easy to use and so incredibly helpful in finding simple routes from my home - and I love the challenges, so motivating.

### 5/5 — Never get lost again

*2026-02-19, version 4.9.4*

Go jauntily

### 5/5 — Feedback fiend

### 5/5 — Love love love

*2025-05-01, version 4.7.1*

This is exactly what I needed to get me out and about.
The walks are great, the photos are brilliant.
Everything you need to get you out and walking all in one place 🤩

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-01-16*

Absolutely love this app. Currently doing GM ringway and love that the app has pictures so you know if you are going wrong. Just upgraded to premium because I use it so much. I like generating my own walks as well, that is a great feature. Cannot say anything bad about this app, if you like getting out and about and exploring new places then this is the app for you. I combine it with doing a little geocaching as well.

**Developer response:** Hello Vale131m, thank you SO MUCH for your lovely review. As a small team, it really means a lot and we love that you love you app. We also appreciate you upgrading to premium which really helps support us and keep us going. The GM Ringway is such a fantastic walk and it's fun that you combine us with geocaching as well. Love it! All the best, GJ xx

### 5/5 — Streets of London

*2024-11-29, version 4.6.2*

This is my favourite walking app and I have lots! It’s the only one that lets me find a green route away from pollution. I’ve discovered dozens of new routes and can now identify every tree in London - thanks to this brilliant app.

### 5/5 — Good App

*2024-11-08, version 4.5.8*

I enjoy this app, for its simplicity. A great method of recording steps. And the feedback is positive.

### 5/5 — A great guide for any distance of pleasurable runs

*2024-09-01, version 4.4.11*

First time user. Precise, bug free, easy to follow and a real gem of new running/walking routes.

### 5/5 — Brilliant - Perfect for Wanderers

*2024-08-04*

Great walking app that opens up your surrounding area suggesting routes to explore. Very handy to have when travelling as well, and can’t wait to explore more of UK with the help of this app. If you love walking and exploring this is the app for you. Would love to see Apple Watch integration at some stage which would make it more than perfect. Happy Wandering!

**Developer response:** Hi VerynWW, so pleased to read this! Thank you so much for sharing. As a small team it really means a lot. We've been chatting internally about how we can further improve the feature set as you mentioned. If you have any questions at all, do email us on hi@gojauntly.com :)
