## What is Go?

Stop doom-scrolling for "things to do this weekend". Start exploring with Go Roam. ROAM is the antidote to "what shall we do this weekend?"

Built for people who'd rather be outside than scrolling, ROAM hand-picks adventures, hidden gems and quiet corners near you. From village walks and indie cafés to gallery openings and weekend events. No endless feed. No algorithmic rabbit hole. Just things actually worth doing.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Swipe through a curated deck of places near you - restaurants, parks, museums, viewpoints, pubs, walking routes, and more
• Tap "I'm bored" and let ROAM build you a half-day or full-day plan with stops, walking distance, and timings
• Save places to a personal map so you stop forgetting that pub a friend recommended six weeks ago
• Build themed collections - "Sunday roasts I want to try", "rainy-day London", "places to take Mum"
• Browse what's happening near you this weekend - gigs, comedy, festivals, family events
• Mark places visited and watch your map fill up. Print it as a poster of your year.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-06-09

Ad serving fixes

### 1.1.9 — 2026-06-02

A quick, honest one: to keep ROAM free for everyone, free accounts will
now see the occasional ad while you browse. We've kept them light — a
small banner at the bottom and an occasional full-screen ad, and we tune
them to the kinds of places you're actually exploring rather than random
  junk.

On ROAM+? Nothing changes — you stay completely ad-free, with no banners,
no full-screen ads, and no sponsored cards. Just unlimited saves, offline
maps, bigger search radius, and a clean deck.

Thanks for exploring with us. The weekend's waiting.

### 1.1.8 — 2026-05-25

ROAM 1.1.8 — How far do you want to go?

You can now tell ROAM how much effort you're up for. There's a new
"How far?" slider in the filters with three settings for each travel
mode: a quick jaunt or an honest adventure when you're driving,
a proper stroll or a proper hike when you're on foot, all the way
up to "where the road ends" in Explorer mode.

The Discover stack is faster too. Switching between walking and
driving used to make you wait while we re-queried the map; we've
cached the heavy lifting so it lands almost instantly the second
  time around.

Plus a tidy-up of the bits you don't normally notice but appreciate
when they break: sign-in handles expired sessions cleanly, push
notifications stop popping up before you've asked for them, and
your ROAM+ renewal keeps its dates straight.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-05-19

We've been busy! This update brings:

Notifications are now reliable. Follower alerts, helpful-tip notifications, visit reminders and community moderation pushes all dispatch properly.

Badges feel alive again. Earning one shows you a celebration toast the moment it happens, from any screen — no more discovering it later when you happen to open your profile.

Profile counters and levels are accurate everywhere. Your level, places visited and helpful score are now read straight from the server so they look the same on every device you sign in on - and viewing a friend's profile shows their stats, not yours.

Your streak comes with you. Previously the streak counter lived only on the device that recorded it. Now it persists to your account, so signing in on a new phone or tablet picks up exactly where you left off.

Faster in-app updates. The notifications bell refreshes the moment you bring ROAM back to the foreground, so new activity shows up without needing to close and reopen the app.

A handful of small visual fixes across dark mode and the Discover loading screen too.

Discover finds way more places now. Famous places stop disappearing. Notre Dame, Westminster Abbey, the Empire State Building and similar landmarks were being silently dropped from results because their underlying OSM tag matched our "boring" filter. Now any place with strong positive signals (Wikipedia entry, tourism flag, national heritage listing, paid entry) breaks through that filter — the cathedral surfaces, the village chapel still doesn't.

Quality scoring got smarter. Wikipedia entries, heritage listings, museum/attraction/viewpoint overlays, and OSM-mapped photos now correctly boost results. (Previously a coding error was actively DOWNRANKING places tagged as "attraction" — yes really. Fixed.)

Cemeteries are now discoverable. Highgate, Père Lachaise, Recoletaand the world's other cemetery-as-destination spots will appear in the History & Heritage filter.

Saturday morning nudges. Every Saturday we'll send a single, gentle push reminding you that ROAM is here if you're stuck for weekend plans. You can turn this off in Settings → Notifications → Weekly digest if it's not for you.

Thanks for using Go-Roam. Loving where we're heading? Leave us a 5 star review on the App Store, it genuinely helps.

### 1.01 — 2026-05-15

We've been busy! This update brings:

Push notifications now work properly across iPhone. Get notified about follows, helpful tips, and reminders for
your planned visits — and the on/off toggle in Settings actually remembers your choice between app launches.

Visit reminders fire on the correct day, in your timezone (the previous version could fire a day early if you
planned late at night), and time-sensitive alerts now pierce Focus modes so you don't miss them with Do Not
  Disturb on.

Your profile counters work end-to-end. Tips you share start counting toward "Helpful" the moment people upvote
them, and "Visited" stays accurate after every visit.

Save your visited places as a printable poster — the Export button now opens the iOS share sheet so you can save
to Photos, Files, or AirDrop it to a friend.

Dark mode is now legible everywhere. Modals, profile cards, the swipe-deck loader, the plan-it sheet, and the
visited-map header all properly flip dark instead of staying stuck on cream.

Past events automatically disappear from your saved list so you only see what's still upcoming.

Faster, smarter image loading on the Discover swipe deck.

Polish across the Social tab, profile pages, and search results.

Improved privacy and safety controls, including community-driven moderation that quietly hides tips the community
  doesn't find helpful.

Thanks for using Go-Roam. Loving where we're heading? Leave us a 5 star review on the App Store, it genuinely
  helps.
