Would like to be able to change modes while riding AND be able to switch between screens or show all info when logging the ride. Lucky to give it a 2 ### 2/5 — trips completely broken *2025-03-04, version 9.6.1* I want to love the app as much as I love the bike. Half the time it won’t connect out of the gate. You reboot bike. you reboot app. maybe it connects. You start a trip .. end of you ride and at least half the time, maybe more it didn’t record or recorded a few seconds and then gave up. I have a lot of 1 min rides. I tried not locking screen which is absorb hoping it would finish recording. I suspect they assume you’re mounting phone on bike and leaving it running. if I close the phone and throw it in backpack many times it records nothing. software needs serious debugging ### 3/5 — It’s not bad but not Gocycle worthy *2024-12-25, version 9.6.1* The app seems very generic and fiddly. Cockpit view and use should be both in portrait mode and landscape but it’s not. There is also no security built into the app and there should be. I should be able to disable the motor if stolen. A top end bike should have a top end app and it feels cheap. ### 3/5 — Frustrating *2024-09-08, version 9.5.2* This version is just bad. The b&w interface is clunky and unappealing… if you can even get your bike to connect, which I can’t right now. The previous version was far superior… bring it back please. Meanwhile, I am not using this one. Edit: I tried this again a couple of months later after the developer noted “bug fixes”. I was able to easily connect to the bike and at the same time, download a firmware update. The app is still pretty basic looking, but seems to work now. ### 3/5 — Getting Back to Decent *2024-07-15, version 9.5* The original app was rough, but much better than version 9 (hastily designed in-house by Gocycle due to some copyright issue) - which I didn’t bother to rate (it was so bad). Version 9.5 (7/25/24) takes the Dashboard (added back to the app in 9.3, I think) and removes the timeout problem (but still has the text sizing issue). It is not as clean as the original app, but the functioning (for more than a couple of minutes) Dashboard makes it a livable excuse for a companion app to a multi-thousand dollar e-bike. Keep working on it, Gocycle - I have renewed faith in your company! ### 2/5 — GoCycle Connect v9.3 *2024-06-21, version 9.3* Needs work. Extremely frustrating trying to make it work as advertised. I am no longer using the App; I’ll fly on my own, do to speak ### 1/5 — Are you taking the micky? *2024-06-17, version 9.3* So, rubber bands to hold the phone in landscape mode and what do you do? You make the app a piss poor portrait mode only! You’d be laughed out of court if you really believed this was a suitable app for such a premium e-bike. ### 1/5 — New app is garbage please fix *2024-06-09, version 9.3* Is zero stars possible? The bike itself is great but the app is the worst app I ever used. It doesn’t even work most of the time. I have been trying to update the firmware on my Gocycle GX for two months, but the app always freezes so the update is still unsuccessful. I can’t log into my account via app. The app states email not found. The same email Gocycle sends regular advertisements to. I log out and login several times when the app freezes. It eventually bypasses the update. The app does work 10% of the time but it is complete downgrade from original version. The original version had a dashboard that worked as a speedometer when using the bike. The new version doesn’t have this feature. Closing notes. I love my Gocycle but the app is horrible and needs to be fixed. This is a premium bike with a premium price so I would expect the app to work. ### 3/5 — 9.2 *2024-06-03, version 9.3* Still waiting for them to update this more since the change due to Apple. But to get the dashboard up, click rides and then landscape your phone. Still buggy of landscaping not working as it should. Like if you have docked your phone to the bike bar and then open the app, connected, ride, it would still be horizontal. Still patiently waiting but I am starting to get a little annoyed that there hasn’t been any improvements of the app yet. ### 1/5 — Sadly the old app was better than the 9.3 version. *2024-05-14, version 9.3* A familiar pattern emerges from the reviews. The app has been launched before it is really ready. Sadly I have to say I would prefer to have the old version back that worked. ### 2/5 — Have to be fair & honest!! *2024-05-09, version 9.3* Extra star from my last review. It seems you are finally trying to claw back the damage you have caused from an easy top premium brand. You have a very long way to go!! Please persist. I’m very tempted to sell my Gocycle & go with a cheaper brand even I if I replace yearly. Please please get back to where you should be at the top!! ### 1/5 — New app massive backwards step *2024-05-09, version 9.3* It’s poor. It disconnects. In iOS you have not disabled the screensaver kicking in like any other media app. It makes it pointless strapping to bike now unlike the old app. Please fix and add the feature that were there for the old app much much faster! Rather than mess about with a kids balance bike….. develop this app please. Was interested in cargo bike but this app needs to improve beforehand. Love the bike…. Hate this app. Be more like Tesla and incorporate the app into your user cases. ### 1/5 — Version 9.0 - Not ready for prime time or any time *2024-05-05, version 9.2* Gocycle does say they are not done with this new version of the app and that is an understatement. While the dashboard of the previous version was not perfect at least it was there. This version has no dashboard. There are so many errors in this version they cannot be counted. Linking the app to your account and the bike the first time will require at least 3 reboots of the app. It freezes up. What is in the app provides so little value when it comes to actually riding the bike. The app will allow you to change the riding mode but the battery status indication does not update while you ride. The app does not keep your phone from turning off like previous versions. That not a big deal as the app now gives you no meaningful information while you ride. You will need a fitness watch or some other means to track your speed and distance in real time. Nothing like buying a product with a set of features and then getting a forced “upgrade” with a third of the features you had before. Maybe this is acceptable in the UK? May 5, 2024 Version 9.2 is out and yes it has a dashboard. The app still does not work anywhere near as well as the one this new 9.X version replaced. I would not buy a new Gocycle until the app is fixed. It is buggy, incomplete and seems to be rich in features you really don’t need to ride the bike (like how to unpack the box). ### 3/5 — 9.2 *2024-05-05* Still waiting for them to update this more since the change due to Apple. But to get the dashboard up, click rides and then landscape your phone. ### 1/5 — So bad it just ruins the Gocycle experience *2024-05-04, version 9.2* Every journey where you try to use the app is a nightmare. Often fails to connect. Advice to force-close and restart the app mostly does not help. Turning Bluetooth on and off mostly does not help. Turning the Gocycle off and on mostly does not help. Sometimes, just occasionally, it all works long enough to change a setting… or long enough to turn off the lights that keep turning themselves on even though you turned them off already before. By the time we set off 20 minutes late I am usually pretty annoyed. It just spoils the whole experience. The old app was bad but this new one is much worse. Clearly no-one is trying to fix these issues with the new app or firmware. Can we PLEASE have the old app back? ### 1/5 — No trust *2024-04-26, version 9.2* Sorry but I can’t trust your app. You deleted all my ride data from the previous version. When the app was updated no notice that all my ride information would be purged. Please add some export option because I don’t trust you to keep my data. ### 2/5 — Backward step! *2024-04-25, version 9.1* I loved the older app, easy flip for dashboard, easy to read. With this new version I can’t even get a ‘dashboard’ view when I’m cycling! This app seems so basic compared to previous version. Not loving it. Please hurry with updates and improvements - this app is so frustrating to use. Not user friendly at all. 😞 ### 1/5 — I want my Money Back *2024-04-25, version 9.1* If I could give it zero stars I would this is absolutely the biggest fraud perpetrated upon us customers. I paid $6000 for this bicycle and I cannot use all the features due to their horrendous app. You need the app to set up different cycling modes. The bike doesn’t operate properly without the app and ever since the update. The app doesn’t work. Obv as budgets have been cut and developers laid off, they've released a 'new' version with a fraction of the functionality, reducing the appeal of the bike considerably. Very disappointing..should have bought from a more established and renowned brand. ### 1/5 — Gocycle app *2025-04-08, version 9.6.1* This app is unusable utter rubbish ### 1/5 — My bike not accepted by app anymore *2025-04-04, version 9.6.1* Update 04/2025 Since the last update after I went through the whole registration process again, which is lengthy and cumbersome to no avail at the end of the whole application process, it tells me that my Gocycle frame number cannot be accepted by the app anymore, which renders the bike completely useless. It used to be a great bike but stay away from this company. They seem to have trouble anyway to keep lights on and no wonder when those type of things happen that customers are not happy with their product. Obviously a must have app for any great Gocycle bike. BUT. Can you guys stop make and force us to set up our bike with an account again and again? I can’t even tell you how often you force me in setting up my bike from scratch again and again. Maybe the 10th, the 20th time of my 2 years ownership? And it’s a really lengthy process. What happened? *2024-10-09, version 9.5.3* The old app was great - slick interface and lots of easy to get to customization. This version is neither and on my iPhone text and graphics actually overlap, window scaling is all over the place and the useful adjustments have disappeared. Even my account disappeared and I had to create a new one just to get started. Perhaps this is now the worst user interface in the App store? Apple should have rejected it. I wish you could disable the gocycle via the app as well and lock it so you can only drive it if your phone is nearby. Thanks to the developers and Gocycle team for listening and fixing issues actively. Keep up the good work. The new app looks sleek and the dashboard is great but all your custom Mode settings are being deleted. Furthermore you are not able to change the speed and the max now is 25kph as assisted power which means the bike is pretty useless as you tech that speed in second gear. The custom mode is no longer able to unlock the motor to 40kph. Only way to get the bike to run as 32kph is by a reset and setup in American mode 1. If I would have known I would not have bought the bike as it is slower than a Brompton now and a joke on the road. ### 5/5 — Love it! *2017-06-26, version 5.2* I’ve upgraded from V4 to V5.2 - works fine for me and I seem to have kept all my original settings (thankfully). Great improvements too and love the live dash! I had some issues with the first release of V5, but they said they were working on a fix which now seems to have done the trick with V5.2. Thanks and keep up the good work GC!! Loving the product! ### 5/5 — Update has worked for me and great live dash. *2017-06-25, version 5.2* A fun improvement from the last app. The live dash is brilliant, I just need to get a waterproof case for my phone now. It seems they've fixed the teething issues as I have my normal custom mode adjustments and max speed is still the same. ### 5/5 — This ebike and app have great support *2017-06-24, version 5.2* Version 5.2 is working fine for me. When V5 first came out, I did lose my personal settings which for me was only a minor issue. At the time, Gocycle told me they were working on a solution for V4 customers and V5.2 seems to have corrected things now. I did have to contact techsupport with my frame number because I had already upgraded to V5. But they were quick to respond. Thank you Gocycle! I absolutely love this bike and the app is an integral part of that. The live dash is really cool. I appreciate the thought that goes into this bike and its app - everything is so well done. ### 5/5 — The best electric bike in the world has the best app. *2017-04-02, version 4.03* This app has never let me down. Very light and quick. You can watch stats and customize your ride very easily. ### 5/5 — great app, for an even greater Gocycle... *2014-04-22, version 1.25* Thoroughly using my Gocycle app to adjust my ride settings wherever I go. I check the terrain and distance of my upcoming ride, calibrating how much power I want and when, and presto, it’s there for me in a second. Not bad at all ;-) Fortunately I ride on a lot of private roads, so can go for the maximum speed assistance of 25 mph ! Wow. Didn’t think the Gocycle ride could be improved, so congrats to you guys / gals at Gocycle ! ### 4/5 — Found out how to rotate into landscape mode *2024-04-25, version 9.2* You select the ride option on the app and rotate! As a suggestion, it would be really nice to be able to access bike stats when offline (if the bike is switched off you can’t see any summaries etc.) and refresh when next connected.
