### 2/5 — Multiple journals not working on desktop

*2025-02-15*

I love the design, but it’s buggy. I bought the premium version for iPhone for the ability to sync multiple journals to my desktop, but the desktop version of the program can only see one journal at a time. Am I missing something? Tried upgrading the desktop app separately, but it says I’ve already purchased the premium version. Tried on a different computer. Tried deleting app and reinstalling. Tried the GoJournal support page, but it has been down since I purchased. Tried Googling for a solution, but the user base is not big enough to find an answer. Other bugs (pop up windows can’t be dismissed) show this needs a lot more testing with MacOS 15.

**Developer response:** We're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues on the desktop app. Please ensure your Apple ID is the same across devices and that iCloud is enabled on all devices. Try restarting your devices and using the 'Restore Purchase' option provided in the Premium screen to get the Premium purchase applied onto other devices. If that doesn't work, log out and back into your Apple ID on all connected devices (provided the data across all your apps is saved properly). We'll also look into the issue with reaching us via in-app support option & get it fixed asap.

### 4/5 — Please add gif support!!!

*2024-07-20, version 2.9*

I love it so much. I just wish it had gif support. When I add them they don’t play, they stay frozen and show like picture and not a gif.

### 4/5 — Its great but needs more features

*2024-03-11*

Go Journal is great but needs more features. like a photo calendar. i.e. better templates, reminders to journal, basically everything day one has.

You might ask. why not just use DayOne?? Its ok feature wise but i dont like being bled out monthly. Go Journal has no subscription fee which is why im using it exclusively.

I hope they never go that route. Charge a fair price upfront per user and thats it. Tried evernote, diarium (diahhrea lol umm) , others. Nope stick with Go Journal.

DEVs please just keep it bug free and add more cool features to it and youll have a 5 star winner! Thanks

**Developer response:** Happy to note! Thank you so much for the positive feedback, it made our day! We will surely consider providing the features you requested in future updates, stay tuned. PL take note that you can make an audio note even now. Try as suggested here to achieve the same - https://support.gojournal.app/hc/en-us/articles/9136704645017-How-to-record-your-audio-in-GJ-

### 4/5 — Nice!

*2023-06-29, version 2.6*

Pretty good app overall. I love the displays and how functional it is! I just wish we could back up our entries by creating an account on the app rather than using our icloud storage.

### 2/5 — Need a previous year memory

*2023-04-29, version 2.5*

I like the app.. But if i think it would be better if you have the app remind you want you posted this time last year.. That would be awesome

### 4/5 — Great app, though development has slowed

*2023-03-30, version 2.5*

Really enjoy journaling using GoJournal. Love the UI, it's very cozy and nice to write in.

Would love to see Markdown for formatting text—making headers and such is a bit awkward. Any chance we can get Markdown implementation?

I'd also love to see an Apple Watch companion app for capturing thoughts on the go. If this app reached feature parity with DayOne or Diarly, it would easily be the best app on the market.

I believe in the GoJournal team, let's see some magic in 2023!

### 5/5 — Worth the one-time payment

*2023-03-20*

This is a great app for journaling because of the templates it gives, editing features, and saving to the cloud. Other journal apps I tried did not have such robust features and usually had a monthly fee which I hate. The only thing that I could think of that would make this app amazing would be the ability to edit or creat entities on a computer that I could then access on my phone. I tend to type a lot in my entry and find that I need a keyboard to get all my thoughts out.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your 5-Star review! It's always a pleasure to receive nice comments – it means we're on the right track. We'll do our best to continue with this positive vibe. Stay with us to see all positive changes. We do support iCloud Syncing of data between devices even now. Reach us via in-app email (Settings icon-Support option) so we can discuss this further.

### 5/5 — Well done

*2023-03-08, version 2.5*

I’m very happy with. I can record days events that are important for me and I don’t want to forget and I can also create multiples agendas for différents events

### 2/5 — It was good for a while

*2023-03-07*

It worked well for a while but as my journal got larger (>80 entries & images) I started getting more frequent crashes and entry corruption. Sometimes it will crash to Home Screen over and over, other times it will reload every entry over and over, while sometimes it will just flip to other journals randomly when I try to add an image. I’ve tried submitting a bug on this and another image issue but didn’t get any resolution. I’ll be looking for another journaling solution soon. It shouldn’t be a memory or processor issue as I have a M1 iPad Pro.

**Developer response:** Hi, we have an update of you, our Test Engineer & Developer were able to identify the issues mentioned by you. We will get it fixed in coming update. Once question for you - when exactly is the app freezing and crashing, is it while adding many images at once or adding some images multiple times in the same Entry? Kindly clarify to help us fix the issue properly. Thanks for your time & feedback!

### 5/5 — Pretty good app

*2023-03-03, version 2.5*

Nice journal

### 4/5 — Best journaling app

*2023-02-27, version 2.5*

I love this app. It’s easy to use and I love being able to see how many days I remembered to log an entry. Great app

### 4/5 — Love it but would really love to see this one feature!!

*2023-02-12*

Its my 2 week anniversary since using this app and I love it. I love everything about it! The only concerns I have are 3:

1. Emojis: Idk why but when I log an entry on my phone and use emojis it always leaves this huge space between the emoji and the next word. I've figured out that I need to use a period and then go back and delete it before it looks normal. Could be my phone maybe?

2. Please create some type of tip jar to help support! The one time payment was a very good price I might say and would be sad to have it changed.

3. Maybe it already does but I haven't used it long enough: but a memories feature! Kinda like Day One and Facebook where we get notifs for previous entries from that day!

Other than that this app is basically perfect and honestly with these suggestions and the right promotions could top Day One 100%. I am willing and would be very glad to help too!! :)

### 5/5 — Great app for all of your journal needs

*2023-02-07, version 2.5*

This app is intuitive and easy to use. I love how you can have different journals for whatever you want and change between them quickly or view entries for all of them together.

The are a few things I’d love to see in the future that would make this an unbeatable app:

1) A view with a seamless vertical scroll through the journal pages.

2) The ability to change fonts.

3) Videos play automatically.

### 5/5 — Just BUY it!

*2023-01-30, version 2.5.1*

I enjoyed:
 *One Time Payment (Most)
 *Cool timeline
 *Robust Editor
 *Export to PDF
 *Search
 *Todo Lists
 *Timeline Photos

Needs:
 *Audio Note
 *Video Note
 *Everyone Day1 has
*Tipjar to keep it one time payment

Keep adding more features. Thanks!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Features not working

*2024-11-02, version 2.10*

The sidebar was working before but it is not working anymore even after reinstallation. This seems to be a development issue where it is not properly coded or tested. Highly disappointed.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2024-10-25, version 2.10*

They finally updated it so it doesn’t crash with Sequoia. I think im going to start looking for a new journal app. Unreliable.

### 1/5 — Crashing

*2024-09-21, version 2.9*

Crashing iOS18

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2023-09-06, version 2.6*

I do not like this app at all! I paid for the full version and feel very cheated. The prompt for the daily reflection template has been the same since Aug. 26, it is now Sept. 5. I’ve messaged in the “help” link but no response. This app receives 0 stars from me!

### 1/5 — App kept freezing with the spinning wheel

*2023-09-05, version 2.6*

I bought Go Journal today and noticed that it wasn't keeping up with the speed at which I was typing on my MacBook Air. It kept freezing with the spinning wheel and I had to repeatedly force quit. I'm going back to the DayOne app, which I've used with no problems for two years. Wish I could get a refund.

### 1/5 — All my journal entries disappeared

*2023-06-17, version 2.6*

All my journal entries disappeared

### 1/5 — Poor functionality

*2022-11-28, version 2.4*

If “bold ” is on, it switches off on next line. Too hard to use this app and write at the same time. Find something else. Also. Why not more fonts ? Letter sizes ? Etc.

### 1/5 — No support

*2022-09-15, version 2.0*

Raised a ticket for support as I couldn’t find any answers and heard nothing back even after chasing it up. So much support for customers who also paid extra for the premium Ticket 64377 (sent on 03/09/22)

### 1/5 — app is so buggy and entries get randomly deleted

*2022-07-27, version 2.0*

the app is so buggy and unstable… my journal entries from previous days were completely deleted for no reason. i’ve also noticed certain parts missing from an entry. bad experience and im upset that ny previous entries are gone and unretrievable.

### 1/5 — There’s no way to export your data

*2022-05-22, version 1.8*

The app looks good and I’d love to use it more thoroughly, but after a few days I realised anything you put in the app is trapped in here. There’s no way of exporting your content. If the app ever disappears or they go out of business or you just want to use something different, you’ll lose everything you’ve recorded. That’s a dealbreaker for a journaling app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-05-30, version 2.10*

Everything you need in a journal. Clean, simple, beautiful design. Lot of options!!

### 5/5 — New to GoJournal

*2025-01-24, version 2.10*

Great app. Love everything about it including the price. Would love to see bookmarks and the ability to set a default font. Otherwise perfect!

### 5/5 — Potential for greatness

*2024-09-25*

I’m encouraged by the recent update that fixed the crashing update on iOS 18. Previously I was feeling that the app may have lost the love of its developers as they poor all their energy into Noteshelf 3, their flagship product.

I hope they continue to nurture and mature GoJournal by giving it the the attention it needs to flourish. If that means switching to a subscription model, so be it. But please keep GoJournal alive and well.

I was really hoping that with iOS 18 they would reveal an exciting new version with some new features and functionality.

For example, things like …

* Drag and drop of notebooks to rearrange in order we want
* Journal groups to organize our journal by area
* Drag and drop of list items for managing a daily todo list easier or any type of list (like Noto)
* Entry bookmarks / favorites
* Custom background themes
* Wiki links for developing a knowledge base by linking related entries (like Bear notes)
* Trash can for deleted entries
* Multiple icons to choose from and support ios18 tinted icons
* An Apple Watch app (on par with Noteshelf) for adding audio entries.

I guess we will wait and see … Meanwhile, I will hold to the faith that new life will be breathed into GoJournal soon. 🤞

Even though it hasn’t been given the attention it deserves, GoJournal is still one of the best kept secrets in iOS Journaling apps, that’s why I’m bothering to write this review.

### 5/5 — Nice

*2024-06-08*

However, occasionally one of the journals will start flashing. To me that is annoying when I’m trying to decide which to open. It starts hurting behind my eyes. The only way I’ve found to stop it is to delete that journal. If it wants my attention it should give me a better clue as to why. Opening and closing the journal didn’t stop it. If it is an attempt to get me to answer the prompts could you please make it an option rather than an annoyance. Personally, I open an app to make an entry and find prompts distracting enough to forget what it was I wanted to enter. I suppose it is an effect of the brain surgery.

### 5/5 — Sort

*2024-06-03, version 2.9*

How can sort to make the earliest appointment first?

### 5/5 — Simple and Effective, one small but important improvement

*2024-01-07, version 2.7*

I like the simplicity. If it is not simple then we stop journaling, usually.

Creators! Please fix the search to search within the journal selected.

I own both go journal and Noteshelf 3

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2023-10-24*

This is such an easy and perfect journal to use. I LOVE it! The only problem I have with it is that it needs to have a way to make it more secure and give the option for a passcode and not just face recognition or fingerprint. I have others that have access to my phone and a passcode would prevent them opening up my journal. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2023-09-12, version 2.5.1*

I like it because it's separeted by day, I can do my To-Do List per day and Journal. I loved it!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2023-05-23, version 2.5*

Journaling is the ticket for personal growth and this app has it all. It’s simple, easy to use, and the best tools to keep me organized.

### 5/5 — Happy Susan

*2023-05-16, version 2.5*

I tried 3 different journaling apps and Go Journal was my favourite choice as does everything I wanted. It is a great app and includes a calendar view of every entry as well as a listing of every day’s entries, photos and location. I’ve already recommended it to many friends who all love the idea and want to get the app. Thank you Go Journal!
