This game is for you! *2015-08-05, version 1.5.0* I play object search games all the time and I love these games! You gather objects from one setting to use in others, there are secret objects hidden in boxes, drawers, great graphics, fun story lines and characters. It is a wonderful way to spend your downtime! ### 5/5 — Top-notch fun! *2015-06-14, version 1.5.0* All I can say about this outstanding game is that I sure am glad I saw it was offered for free yesterday AFTER my homework was done! Totally addicting, well-scripted, hidden objects like they should be! There is one 'glitch': in Episode 2, Location Basement; the barrel easy to see but every time I tapped on it, it never registered until the little dudes took a bunch of my points. This happened three separate times. Outside of this one annoying glitch, everything else went seamlessly. I felt a purpose to finding objects since it involves looking for clues. You often have to find objects in one scene to uncover a clue in another scene. Once you complete a location, you get to look at a short scene about some of the characters you're investigation. This game kept my interest and the artwork is lovely :) Definitely worth buying! ### 5/5 — EAF *2014-04-28, version 1.5.0* This is a great game. Like the fact that each game is different when looking for hidden objects. Like games that tell a story and this is a good one. The scenes are well colored and very clear. There is just one scene where I can't find all of the sheriff's badge, but I keep playing and keep looking. ### 5/5 — It's Really One of the Best *2014-02-15, version 1.4.1* This was one of the first hidden object games I played, and really it's one of the best. As I went back to play it a second time, I had forgotten how good it was. I like that I don't have to think too hard about where to go within the game for a change. I like that I always have the opportunity to get more hints. It operates smoothly, and when you open a location, there are several sites to visit within. It involves less logical thinking skills than the others, but I think the HOS's are harder than most other games. ### 5/5 — Surprisingly Good *2013-10-18, version 1.4.1* I am actually really enjoying this one. I've played a few hidden object games before, but the things to find in this game are a good mix of easy and cleverly hidden (rather than impossible). I like finding stars in each scene. My criticism is that there are sometimes when you have to interact with something in the scene (like pulling up a blanket), but those times are not obvious until the item starts glowing. I don't mind interacting with the scene, but I do like having a hint that I will have to do so. ### 5/5 — Fun *2013-09-09, version 1.4.1* I love this game. Wish there were more like it. I have had a little trouble with two of the chapters where an item is needed to open something , for instance in the governors office, it was hard to get the key to work but overall this is a fun game and I hate to have it end. I found everything but it still wants be to click on the box in front of the door but I keep clicking on it and nothing happens. Then it takes away points for tapping everywhere. Please fix this. Thanks. ### 4/5 — Good! *2013-08-24, version 1.4.1* Very smooth, entertaining hidden object gameplay. I wish the clues flashed on a little longer or it didn't repeatedly deduct clues for showing you the same object. But other than that, great. Good story and a nice job of keeping the theme of all the objects pretty consistent with the setting (relative to some other games at least). I liked that it went from town to town always in a nice new scene, not repeatedly searching in the same place. The story made @ 4 hours pass very quickly! Loved the bonus level. I may even play again or replay some levels in unlimited mode. ### 5/5 — Well-drawn and fun... *2013-08-24, version 1.4.1* .....there are a few quick mini-games (including shooting "pop-up" villains, which I really enjoyed) and some dialogue, but mostly this game consists of well-drawn and clever hidden object scenes. After you complete the full game, there are several bonus scenes, plus you can try formerly-finished scenes over again to see if you can beat other players' times. The one negative I found is that a couple of the "inventory tools" (in the mansion and outside the barbershop) used to find some of the objects didn't engage with the items they were supposed to, and I had to return and try them many times until they finally worked. Other than that, very enjoyable! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Crashes *2011-08-11, version 1.2* Just got this yesterday, had an update today, and it still crashes at the Gold Mine, Bridge location. Just goes blank and shuts down whole game. I even replayed, but same result. If not for this terrible fact this would be a fun, challenging game and I would give it five stars. As it is now, I advise you to avoid this game. I am playing on an iPad 1 with the latest update. OK- got new update and am past the bridge and now can't get the newspaper at the gold mine! box keeps lighting up with yellow outline but no matter how often, or where, I tap, nothing happens and I am stuck again. At least the game doesn't shut down but it may as well as you cannot continue!! Come on and fix this thing as it would be a very good game. ### 2/5 — Items are too random - it's a problem. *2016-10-10, version 1.5.0* The problem with the game is that items are so random that you may not get the special items you need in order to further the game. I've now went as far as I can with the game twice and both times I am not able to find the items necessary in the pictures to move to the next level. I've purchased the game, which makes it even more frustrating. ### 3/5 — Golden trails *2021-11-20, version 1.5.1* This game is a lot of fun and good story line and art work is fantastic. My problem is after I play the game a few times it stops working. The voice doesn’t work, the sound effect stop working. I have to reboot my IPad for the game to work properly again. My IPad has been updated and I am wondering if the game is still compatible with my IPad? ### 4/5 — Frustrating *2017-07-29, version 1.5.1* After playing three times, can't get past "square" even with full "check marks" on other four locations! Tried different areas in other attempts. Potential is good but there is a major problem!!! Added later: I guess the problem was I did not wave the tool over the correct site. Only one tool left to use, know where to use it, but it won't interact with the object. Totally stuck! Great game until this point. ### 4/5 — Game freezes *2016-07-12, version 1.5.0* My third time deleting and reloading this game, as it froze at the Austin level. There is no back button. Other than that, it's fun even if the hints are far between. I can't see the hints that only flicker. It has previously frozen at other levels and there's no way to continue on playing it. If not for that and the scarcity of hints I would have rated it 5 stars. ### 4/5 — Going to the sound menu erased my entire game *2016-04-10, version 1.5.0* I was just about to finish the game, I was on the last town and I decided to go to the main menu and sound options but just because I went to the main menu, it completely erased my entire game progress even when my profile name was STILL there. Now when I try to continue the game it wants to start from 0 ALL BECAUSE I went to the main menu? That is definitely a really bad glitch. I'm not happy that my entire game got erased JUST BECAUSE I went to the main menu. It was all gone in less than a second without me doing anything. The only thing I did was go to the main menu & click on the sound option and when I came back, MY ENTIRE PROGRESS was gone. Other than that really bad glitch, the game is well made and I liked the music and graphics and voice narration. It's frustrating that my entire game progress got deleted in the blink of an eye without me doing anything besides going to the sound option in the main menu, my profile was still there even! It's very frustrating but the game itself is good. ### 4/5 — Good game, give it a try *2015-01-15, version 1.5.0* Nothing so frustrating as completing a game and not being able to get to the bonus content, grrrr. Aside from that, well done graphics and fun story line. Zoom would be nice for us older eyes. Would be nice to know just how many badges are hidden in each scene and be able to have one last chance to look for them before the scene "closes" after all objects are found. Nicely lit scenes, very little repetition of objects. InitialIy I looked at the instructions but didn't have any idea to search for stolen objects, that would have been nice to know before I played the game. The last thing is that the extra hidden, hidden items need a little more time before the highlighting of the object starts flashing. I would rather figure out on my own to use the knife to slice open a pillow before the pillow starts flashing at me. All said, good game, fun to play and value in terms of length of play. Definitely worth the money, give it a shot. ### 4/5 — Fun Game But *2013-10-09, version 1.4.1* This is a fun game. I have planned successfully all the way to the end three times but the unlimited hidden objects games will only allow me to play one half the game. It tells me I have not finished the game. Also the "Extra" stuff that came with this version of the game will not open - it tells me that I must play the regular game all the way through. And I have three times. Please fix this bug. Thanks. ### 4/5 — Ok so far but STUCK *2013-09-01, version 1.4.1* I am stuck in TUMBS town. At the saloon with A 1 on it but , nothing in my find it tray , and shears in my inventory. All other buildings are done. I have taped until I loose points about 6 times now. Guess need fix for this and a way to reset a level if ever stuck like this again. I will delete and reinstall apps ... I will start with saloon if I ever get this far again. No occult garbage or other inappropriate images etc that might be bad for kids if they are using your iPad and decide to try your game. Great sound track. Never get tired of it. This game is hands down my favorite hidden object game ever. There are so many h.o. games that are simply objects splattered all over. There’s nothing hidden about them. This game is a great mix of kinda easy with a little hard. Not so hard it’s frustrating though. You collect coins and hints in a friendly, fun way and you can actually use what you collect. My only wish is for more, more, more. If other h.o. The storyline is fun and the graphics are great! I like that the hidden objects change each time you play. I never get tired of playing this game, I've played several times and enjoy it every time I play. I even enjoy the music, which is rare for many of the games. I appreciate that it doesn't have a dark or horror theme like other hidden object games. I long for and would love to see a sequel to this game; Golden Trails II: a new crime for Jack to solve.
