My kids will happily choose their story and love to see the new ones released each month. With a newborn, it has been so helpful to have an easy way to settle down my big kids at bedtime. I also love the family sharing so kids can listen in different rooms at the same time. Our son is 3.5 and loves being able to choose his own story every night before bed. You can watch as his little body relaxes and drifts off to the soothing stories. They have made such a difference in helping our 2.5 year old fall asleep. He loves choosing a story from the app, then listening to his special sleepy Yoto card. Stories have relatable themes, and I appreciate that there are new stories each month. Not to mention, there are meditations for grownups too! There’s been so many amazing updates since I started, and we love so many of the stories. I love that it has family sharing so we only need one subscription. It took a while for my youngest to want to listen to the stories so I was originally hesitant to keep the subscription, but now she listens nearly every night (and actually falls asleep to them). We starting using your app when she was about 2 and it has been the end of our bedtime routine ever since. She loves creating her own stories and picking different ones each night. She’s usually asleep before the first story finishes. It truly was life changing for us and for her, allowing her to truly rest and enjoy bedtime which was stressful and scary for her before. We’ve just started to use it with our little guy, her 22 month old brother and hoping he’ll enjoy it just as much. Love the variety of stories, and improvements made over time to be able to add stories to playlists. It helps my child fall asleep and stay asleep much easier. Great for setting the tone during a tough day as well. She loves the seasonal stories all the time, and I love that the team leaves all the stories up year-round so we can enjoy a little trick-or-treat in the springtime! She loves having control over choosing a story and I love the control to queue up multiple stories so I don’t have to have my phone out during bedtime. We listen every night and my kiddo picks out our story lineup (he looks at the pictures - I want the lizard one, I want the farm one, etc) and he usually still talks to me for the first one, but by the second story we’re both passed out!! The narrator’s voice is SO soothing, plus they have options to put your kids name in with phonetic spelling so it’s pronounced correctly!! There are so many awesome themes - even though my kiddo usually likes to listen to the same ones over and over until he gets tired of them, we could also change it up every night! My son Dawson is obsessed with Arthur the Alligator and loves that he can make up stories that have his name in it! I’d pay a one-time fee for this because it’s like buying a book of stories. But $8 a month just to hear these same stories? Absolute money grab. But one of their newest stories that we just listened to has a main character that uses they/them pronouns. My child is THREE. Do what you want with your own life. I haven’t found a story that’s captivating enough from the start to hold her attention long enough to put her to sleep. I would prefer a story that was at least 10 minutes. The Barnyard Adventure story wasn’t long enough to put her to sleep and the music after the story didn’t work either. It would be nice to have some different speakers. This lady’s voice whistles so much on s and z sounds and I can’t unhear or stand it. I love this concept and feel like it could be a great fit for us with some tweaks. As good as any other old wives tale. ### 2/5 — Good idea but overhyped *2024-10-05, version 1.0.4* I was really looking forward to trialing this (thank goodness for the 7 days free trial!) after seeing so many amazing reviews from Heysleepybaby. The first night we used it, my toddler did fall asleep within 5 mins, but then again, he was already very tired. The 2nd night, he was distracted by my phone being on so it took a bit of effort to calm him down to sleep. Once I played the stories, this time it took him 15 mins to sleep, which was fine, but again he was very tired already. Didn’t use it the 3rd night and by the 4th night, I’ve been logged out automatically and it says my email address doesn’t exist. I tried many times and eventually decided to sign up again - and it didn’t let me! Again, thank goodness for the free trial as I was actually thinking about purchasing it if it really worked! But obviously would’ve wasted my money if it then decided to log me out and not being about to do anything to get back in! Another thing - which is a personal opinion - is that I can’t stand the tone of one of the reader’s voice. Her voice is really soothing but the tone is so strange I just couldn’t stop focusing on it. ### 3/5 — App needs downloading capabilities *2024-11-29, version 1.0.7* We’ve been using this app for naps and bedtimes and it is generally helpful. Except when it crashed today on Thanksgiving and my child continuously asked for the stories at bedtime and I couldn’t play them because it won’t load and there’s no way to store the stories offline. ### 3/5 — Glitchy - creates more problems at bedtime occasionally *2024-10-06, version 1.0.4* When we first got the app, it was great. It has helped with bedtime some. However, most nights I have to restart the app 3-5 times before the stories finally load. By that time, my toddler is wound up and frustrated that “stories” aren’t working. Also, not a fan of having to select her age every day to sort the stories even after clicking her profile. Maybe future updates have age attached to profile so the stories auto sort. It’s been more than worth it! There’s a great variety so there’s always something for everyone. My only complaint is that there used to be an add to queue feature so you could select different stories each night to play one after another. It seems to have been replaced by an add to playlist option. It makes it difficult to switch up what you want to listen to since you have to create a playlist in order to listen to multiple stories in a row. Update: the add to queue option is back! My kids love being able to choose the stories themselves and switch up what they listen to every night and this makes it so much easier. We’ve been using this app for almost 2 years now and it has been invaluable for bed and helping my kids fall asleep independently. My daughter especially looks forward to bedtime and getting to pick out a story or 2 to listen to. It helps his brain wind down like no other stories can! And I love that there are important lessons embedded in the stories like making mistakes is okay and being kind to yourself and being different can be something to celebrate etc. The creators are so thoughtful in what they include in the app and they are always taking suggestions from the community because they really want the app to be helpful.
